I found for food a good start is one tomato one lettuce one wheat one med the rest trees to start this lets you make salads and pastas. then when you get a lab you can do meat adding more burger and salad options.
Solar panels are a big dud on this planet. The atmosphere limits the amount of sunlight that reach the surface. I have seen other games function with only windmills and 4-5 power collectors.
I haven't finished yet, but there's a 100% chance the colonist that was right by that meteor strike at 12:03 soiled themselves and the one just getting to it may have as well, if not nearly having a heart attack.
Hiya Pirate, not sure who Fade is but hello to them, too. I have been on a watching binge of your LP's (from the first) since I went looking for more of this game. I am still undecided on it, as I'm not sure about the re-playability. But subbed for the great vids full of teaching, play efficiency, great voiceover during play and your unique humor. So, I just wanted to say 👋 Hello. A side note-the friend who introduced me to this and got me scouring YT for more, has a basic food source setup that seems to work well. He always starts with tomatoes, wheat, lettuce and I think-Maize is the fourth. The wheat is not only a starch but can easily be used to make pasta meals. The tomatoes are used with the pasta and also, the meal maker uses them with lettuce to make salads. With these, when he checks exactly what the meal maker is making, he sees variety almost immediately. It seems to work in the beginning quite well to stave off malnutrition. Just a tidbit/FYI to try 😀
The maize is a starch and (the meal maker also uses it as) a veggie-even though it isn't IRL, but honestly I can't be 100% certain that is his other choice. I do know that utilizing the recipes can help you to determine what the best 4th choice would be, until you are ready to add on other foods.
a tip is that when you find out that you are using more power than what you have collected during the night, quickly disable the grid and leave the oxygen on just so you survive the night and your colony safe, dpending on your collector you can leave the biodome open too, but looking at your biodome you have trees and If im correct that will take out oxygen at night which would probably count as 1 person each tree, if you have 3 trees and your oxygen is already supporting 29/30 for example, at night youd be running out of oxygen so I think its better that you didnt put trees in the first place and just have more TVs in the canteen :) you can then use the space for more food production
Hey dude keep on goin u doin well in RU-vid your vids are cool u should play civilisations 5 or settlers heritage of kings they are amazing games gladly play with ya
Not sure if you read the planet description, but it says something about the dense atmosphere of the ice planet hindering solar power collection. Wind is the preferred option.
I've 🐝n playing this for a few months and the trick is to get the bio-dome quickly so you can get food and medical items. BTW is this channel new because I really love ❤️ it! Keep up the good 😊 work.
+Jacqueline Perry actually, solar panels are always the better choice on all worlds except the storm world for reasons to do with how repairing and wear works.
For anyone new to the game. I recommend NOT using more than 1 solar panel on the ice planet. Due to weather conditions they aren't operated at full efficiency. I managed starting off with a med solar panel, and a large turbine, as well as a large power collector. This should keep your base running a lot more efficiently than using multiple solar panels here.
It's just my opinion. I find this combination fool proof for up to self sufficient. I am a super conservative player though and I only allow colonists I need at any given time to land. This also means I don't expand fast. Playing it safe is a good term to use I suppose. Also I'm a sucker for science, looking forward to the details.
You're right, haha. After completing the planet last night, i ended up using 11 Massive solar panels. The wind was working fine until I ran into literally two days of no wind. I was also curious if solar panels increase efficiency when solar flares happen, hoping you cover that.
+Pirate and Fade It's _jif_ not _gif_. :-p Sorry man, I couldn't resist. Anyone who has a plan will change colonists percentage the same way you do. It's the only way to ensure you get the specific colonists you need when you need them in order to proceed to plan. For those that think otherwise, as a business instructor used to say: "_Fail to plan, plan to fail._"
Pirate and Fade I used to, and most people do. It didn't used to matter to me, but I've grown a bit fond of hearing it properly pronounced. I have no clue why. I will say it's not because of Jif peanut butter brand; I'm not too big on peanut butter. And now I've made myself hungry.
Fu' chan Hey, everyone makes mistakes and there are bound to be trials and tribulations regardless... Just important to learn, improve, and not repeat. Wish you the best of luck. Don't look at it as if you're starting from the bottom, but rather changing directions. (Edit) BTW, if you created your profile pic nice artwork!
I dont get it... Why not build the Storage room on the mid of it all. And SOONER... Cause, u know... Efficiency drops where you have no way to storage things. Everyone walks more to do little things. And you know, its the Storage room. Where you stuff outside doesnt degrade and all...
It costs resources to build, connect and power. There's definitely room for it on the Mars planet, but it gets hard to fit in ALL the starting buildings you would like on the later planets. Further, early on most of the stuff is either outside (where you are building and repairing) or in the biodome (right next to a processor room) and not much of it hangs around for long enough to decay far. When it is a choice between a storage dome or powering the base, or water, or a collector, or spare production I tend to chose the later because resources are so tight at the start.
+Pirate and Fade Does light affect the growth of plants? During a power shortage at night, does the plants stop production or would they continue to grow like mushrooms?
Full disclosure: I don't play this game. There are enough good Strategy games out there that you can *pause* (I've been playing Hearthlands recently), and I'm not going to spend my money on something that won't let me stop and think about what I'm doing. That said ... I've seen a few Let's Plays on this game, and I am confused by people (yourself included) who insist on placing a mine as quickly as possible. Mines require workers, they break bones (requiring medics and medicine), and the ore needs to be processed (requiring more workers). For an early colony, focus instead on a large bio-dome, importing more Biologists, use your Workers to make Bioplastic, use your single Medic to make Medicine, and TRADE for metal to expand your base. When you're feeding 20 people (with 10 Biologists), have 3 Medics and a stockpile of medicinal herbs, then you can (safely) ramp up to 20% Workers and start operating a mine.
+Daniel Budney While playing, I hit the help button (F1) which gives you the index of everything about the game while having it paused to think of what my next move is. Not the traditional "pause" feature you find in many strategy games like this though it works well enough. They have been updating different features to the game lately, perhaps the development team will actually put a Pause button. Like you, wish they had this in the game.
ESC? Really? Can you look around your base to check the status of production, nutrition of your guys, water & power storage, and plan the size and location of your next building when you use ESC? You say, "exact same thing as pause," but only Pause is the "exact same" thing ... so is it Pause, or isn't it?
+Daniel Budney Jesus...... you're just a bundle of joy. ESC is not the same thing as pause.. my bad. Just go down to 1x speed and look around. If that's too slow for you still, then that's just too bad for you.
+TinyPirate NICE! yeah, the game looks very interesting. Also, do you have a video like this for the first planet? Thanks in advance. Also, a great video, keep it up!
