Planning For Italy : to-do list & helpful information 

First, best of luck for your family while transferring to Italy! Here are some things my family would definitely add based upon our own Italian travels: 1. Places like TJMaxx have a great selection of affordable, hard shell luggage which usually come in sets of three (one of which you can take as a carry-on with essentials in case the others get delayed/lost). 2. Bring make-up (as well as body and hair products) for African-Americans, as it will be hard to find and/or very expensive. 3. Italian (aka, European) clothing and shoe sizes run small compared to American builds, so if you are taller/bigger, stock up.

Good luck on the process. We found out last summer we were going to Italy and finally leave in one week. We went and bought a new set of hard body luggage and taking 2 big black rolling duffles also.
