I am a victim of sexual abuse. when I was young. Ricky in my eyes is completely innocent, child abusers of any age or background should suffer fates worse than death. He realized, after ending the life of one of his many childhood abusers, that it did nothing to quell the rage inside of him and, instead, it only further fed the burning inferno deep within his soul. You can easily tell that he was a good man with a good heart but that he was suffering inside with an ever-growing hatred towards the ones the stole his childhood along with his sister's. This is such a tragedy and what is even more messed up is that the "Children of God", now known as The Family International, have never been investigated or anything which means that they are protected by higher-ups.

What i don't get is how The Family is still around, even with the proof of their illegal practices not only being openly admitted but published in writing. You'd think a murder would shine a light onto the group to the point to where law enforcement would get involved.

This story breaks my heart every time, I’ve been down this rabbit hole for three years. It’s so infuriating that the people who did this are still out there and I can’t even begin to imagine growing up the way Ricky and his friends were raised.

This could explain why they seem to avoid any kind of repercussions for what they do. Many judges and prosecutors keep repeating “pedophiles and rapists don’t fear prison; they fear getting caught” as they hand down fairly light sentences for sex crimes. If they can’t go to prison, what the hell are we supposed to do with them?

My wife’s parents grew up in that same cult. They were friends with this man. The stories I have heard that went on in that group are horrible. I’m so lucky my mother in law left the group when my wife was born. Otherwise my wife would have experienced a lot of the same things her parents did.

I feel so much of Ricky’s pain. I am a survivor of CSA with my mom letting things happen to me for financial gain. I am 25 and have suicidal issues. A part of me really feels his thirst for revenge, but I hope karma will do the job bc the government sure as hell won’t. I left my mom last year, shortly before her thyroid cancer progressed. Safe to say, I hope these types of monsters endure a long, grueling state where they wished to die.

i knew a group of people in college who grew up in this cult, they were comprised of a bunch of siblings and half siblings and although they were really cool people and eacaped the cult sometime in their youth, you could perceive the damage done to them. a lot of them were overly sexual and promiscuous
