Plano Field Box vs Harbor Freight Bunker Hill Ammo Box

The dimensions of both boxes are the same, and the construction is very similar. However they are different boxes. The Plano was $6, and the Bunker Hill was $3. Is the Plano worth twice the price?

So, I just noticed that the Plano box is made in the USA, and the Bunker Hill box is made in China.

Found this video by accident but I am greatful for doing so. The prices on Plano ammo boxes has skyrocketed and in most places sold out. Didn't even know harbor freight had ammo boxes before ur video. About to buy some now.

Thanks for stopping by. I have been trying to find the Plano box again also for what I paid. No luck though. I did find a Plano shotgun box that is a little smaller but it is $5.00

I just purchased some Sheffield Field boxes from Amazon that are made in the USA I got 10 of them , heavy duty , thick but I love it's made in the USA 👍👍

Just ordered three to hold 11lbs of ammo each. Hope TSA doesn't have any problems with them.

I vacuum seal my ammo, with a silica gel packet, in quantities that fill my mags. 30 for AR, 17 for Sig, etc, etc. No rattle, no moisture!

Well, that is going above and beyond. I keep mine in the original boxes inside of the metal "mil-spec" ammo cans. I have not found a use for these plastic cans yet.

Please do a waterproof test, see which rubber seal is tighter.

Another box to avoid are the Strategy Ammo Boxes at Walmart. They are made by StoutStuff USA, but they are total junk. Bought one and the latch broke right away after opening it. Never had that happen with a Plano box.

Thank you for the tip. I have not had any issues with either of these, but I am just keeping some watch straps in them.

@@WrongTimeWatch Yeah, mine broke just from opening the latch when the box was empty. I called StoutStuff about it and they told me they wouldn't cover it. So now, it's only Plano and MTM for me. Can't rely on the third party boxes.

I just said f it and got surplus cans. Pain in the ass to clean up but once they do you can trust it with holding your steel ammo

Yea, not sure I would trust these plastic cans with a bunch of loose rounds dumped in them. I have a bunch of metal cans, probably too many, but they come in handy.

@@WrongTimeWatch yup I pretty much try to buy US or Europe made I found that that the m2a2 cans are cheaper new from sites than used military surplus for some reason. Honestly we all need to justify to any member in the household that a pallet of used ammo cans from the gov auctions is a investment

I'll take the USA box! What kind of gun do you have? I just got my first gun a Sig p320x full size! I'm 65 btw.i don't think I would pack them that tight though, I want to be able to get it out quickly.... But then again I don't even have a ammo box yet! Thanks for the video!

I had a P320 RX but did not care for the romeo red dot. I now have a "Glock 19" that I put together without any Glock parts. It has a Holosun 507c.

What size is the plano ? How many box can take 9 mm ?

6 to 8 boxes of 9 mm. It depends on the size of the 50 round boxes. Exterior dimensions of the case are, 11.625 x 5.125 x 7.125

Neither are air tight that includes mtm you need the steel cans if you want a air tight seal

@@WrongTimeWatch who says? Rubber gasket beats mtm in this application I would think. Precision and cleanliness needed to maintain metal to metal seal is unlikely

Depends on what you want to use it for, but yea it does the trick for storage and organization.

Not a Fan of Plastic Ammo Cans. Just not as sturdy as Steel.

Plano is utter crap, lock on one corner only and you can lift the opposite corner and reach into the box and pull out items. For ammo completely useless.

That is a good point. I did not buy these with the intention of locking them up, so I did not consider that.

Egad, you're right. A single hand shuffling 9mm boxes back and forth between two "cans" and making mistakes. Each can holds nine boxes of 9mm, whoops WRONG, 10 boxes
