This is just my curiosity and take on how many 9mm I can fit inside a 50 Cal Metal Ammo Can both still inside their cardboard boxes and all loose. See how many I can fit and store?
@@notaprovee The New Republic ammo is a giveaway. They are the only online vendor that sells them. It might be an exclusive brand made for TUSA like Herters is to BassPro. I missed on their ammo day sale could have snatched up a few cases for 20cpr
2,300 loose 9mm rounds fit in the 50 cal can. You miscounted the boxes. In reality this is too much weight to effectively deal with if moving the ammo can around frequently.
Thanks, I did realized my boxes miscount after reviewing the video. And yes 2300 loose 9mm rounds in a 50 cal can is a lot of weight. It's only good for stationary long term, semi or permanent ground level storage. For mobility and transport, 30 cal can is manageable or smaller containers.
I'd seriously like to know what is the weight of the full 50 cal, as well as a similar 30 cal can. I'd guess the 50 cal got up to near 40 pounds? I'd guess such a full 30 cal would be about 30 pounds. Ever try to get this thing onto a scale?
I did not have a shipping/industrial scale available at the time I did this and the 30 cal can videos. I may be able to do a cheat scale weight by weighing the empty ammo cans, then weighing an individual 9mm round and multiplying that to the number of rounds. Glad I B+ average in High School lol. I'll post a follow-up comment later this coming week. @@mikem.2078
Hmm. My 50cal cans hold exactly 1000 rounds boxed nice and neat in 4 stacks of 5. I have one of 147gr LAX and one of 115gr capital cartridge from 2A Warehouse.
BPS ammo, the good things are that it's cheap, just for plinkings. It's not reliable with semi-autos. I think it's the inconsistent loads of few rounds. I think the positive thing is that they help you figure out how to clear jams, failure to ejects, stovepipes, etc... lol.
HAha I did try to pick it up to move it out of the way of my path, and felt like it was cemented to the carpet. After emptying it half way, I was able to remove it, but by that time, my carpet had a flatten compressed rectangle area.
I store a couple boxes and a lot loose. A 50 can weighs 60 #s filled loose and isn't easy to lug around. With a couple boxes that I can grab from it, means I can just grab 100 and go. As seen here,ru-vid.comv2RgZ2pSqlM With 2500 rounds that's 52.2 # in the bullets themselves BTW.
Yes, weight is heavy with fully loaded loose ammo rounds in a 50 cal metal ammo can. Ideally that type of storage is meant for stationary storage, not mobility. For grab and go, it's best to keep rounds in boxes of 50-100, then your can grab several boxes and pocket/bag them for on the go.
I prefer to keep my ammo separated by manufacturers lot number if purchased or with the full recipe and date if reloaded. That way if there is a problem or a recall I can identify the ammo. For instance, these lots of Winchester 9mm have been recalled. That would be a disaster if one of those boxes was from a bad batch i try to avoid mixing batches of ammo and brand, cans are cheap I've got bad batches before I'd rather buy the extra cans than deal with that
That is a reason also that my rounds are still stored in there appropriated boxes. This video was just for demonstration purpose only. Each brand of boxes was from batches that I got in cases, so hopefully not too messed up.
Hard to resale loose ammo without boxes. Most can't afford 2000 or even 1000 once ammo is unable to buy at stores but they will buy a few box's at a time..... when I don't buy to resale ammo they go straight into mags, loose does me no good, ever.
