I have a mistletoe cactus. If is carefree, mine is not bothered by pests, and sits in an east window. In the summer it sits outside under a tree where it gets east sun. I’m in western SC just east of Augusta, GA.

The mistletoe cactus is a type of rhipsalis , I love them they are so different That rhipsalis looks really cute in a head planter, like it the hair.

I’ve got one and love it. It sits in my west facing window and it’s very happy there. This plant is fun to run my hands through and under it. You’ll love it.

I always seem to feel more peaceful when I hang with you. But I have a bone to pick with you little missy! I cant believe you walked right past the pineapple plant and threw it a lightning fast shout out and walked on! Us frigid Canadians need to see where a pineapple comes from and how it grows! To me, that was the one i most wanted to see. I need you to go back to Lowes lol jk. Great vid... I really liked the Monstera Peru.

Hi everyone. Melissa the sphagnum moss you picked up is not the usual orchid moss, they now carry both. I don’t like the sphagnum moss, very nasty. I will stick with their orchid moss, same package. Please let us know what you think of the moss. Lowe’s is all releasing the variegated rabbit track Maranta and the Hoya Cumingiana on a heart trellis in a cute pot ( I got one yesterday).

Oh really? I just assumed it was the same haha oh well, I’ll see how it goes. I’ve never seen both kinds at my stores before. I haven’t used any of it yet. I keep hearing about the variegated marantas popping up! 🥹

I'm so confused right now. I could have sworn I've been buying "sphagnum moss" off Amazon. Then recently I went to buy more, and it seemed the product wasn't available. I also came across the product Melissa showed in the video, so I ordered that thinking it was new packaging of the same stuff. It was cheaper than what I paid before, which I thought was nice. When Melissa mentioned the new packaging in the video, I was like, "Oh, I guess they did change it." Then I came across your comment and started looking into the "orchid moss". The package seemed strangely familiar, so I went back to my previous Amazon orders and apparently I've been buying "orchid moss" this whole time. I'm pretty sure I've seen it at Lowe's and ignored it since it specified orchids. I guess once I was happy with the product, I never looked at the product name or labeling again. So I think my recent purchase of the Better-Gro "sphagnum moss" is my first. It did appear to have a lot more debris in it, with little roots, twigs, and various things throughout. I thought I noticed a new smell, but it's been a while since I've messed with moss from a new package. I think I remember bits of debris in the orchid moss, but I don't remember it being as substantial. I'll have to see if they've got the orchid moss in stock so I can compare the two. I haven't come to a verdict for myself quite yet, but my impression is that I'll prefer the orchid moss. Thanks for commenting, otherwise I'd probably have loaded up on the "new" stuff, haha

I've been buying the orchid moss the whole time and what I use for my poles but it's still sphagnum moss. I think it's cleaner with less debris in it. I might use this for something else and go and get more orchid moss at my regular store. I think it looks nicer!

Yes, everyone. Lowe’s is now offering the orchid moss which is what we have been using, and now also sphagnum moss in a similar packaging. Like someone mentioned; the sphagnum has more debris and it does smell funny. I will stick with the orchid moss. Unfortunately, I’ve got two or three bags for the sphagnum moss to get rid of. I might try to take it back, but it’s been over 30 days. Everyone, use the orchid moss, not as many problems. Shay

I have an ideal location for a Mistletoe cactus, so now I have another item on my “I Wanna” list. If my memory is correct the label indicated that it is low light tolerant. I hope that is correct because the intended location is near an East facing window that is definitely lower light. Once that is verified then the search begins. Oh boy!

oh I didn't check the light situation with it. It will probably grow okay in lower light but most plants prefer brighter light inside. I think I will go back next week and see if any are still there lol

Have you ever gone to the Lowe’s or Home Depot in Bluffton? In my opinion, I think those stores stock nicer plants than Savannah stores.

I don't think so! Bluffton is about an hour from me so I tend to stick to the savannah stores lol. I may eventually go though, I want to check out some other plant shops :)

ha, i came for the mistletoe cactus comments! I was just watching another youtuber (Peggy's Plants) shop her Lowe's in Florida. She called this a 'Jungle Cactus'. Said she leaves it out all year round and the blooms are amazing. Now i want one! LOL Time to head on over to my Lowe's. Thanks for taking us shopping Melissa! 💚

Changing their setup allows them Room to switch out to bring out all the spring plants. You’re gonna miss out on the mistletoe cactus.

I went to Lowes last night and the plants were a mess lol. I did get a full basket of hoya curtisii though. The one i have is small and not growing as fast so I'll add that to the new basket soon.

So funny…..I just picked up the ripsalis mistletoe too! I wish they had the big one tho AND…. days later snagged a variagated maranta. I was thrilled . I thought for sure you would find one too 😂

@@plantsbymelissa Make sure to always check near the cash registers….lateky they’ve had a small set up. I’ve found the cumingiana hoya, and the variagated maranta there. always check there

I was at my local Lowe's just yesterday and wow yours is way more stocked! haha I find a lot of my rehab plants at these big box stores. That's how I got my BOP. Saved him from root rot and he pushed out a new leaf this week!

ripsalis (mistletoe cactus) are really fun, I have a few now and I highly encourage everyone to try one, they are similar in care to easter cactus.

I see a lot of comments about the mistletoe cactus so I won’t add much other than I LOVE MINE! 😂❤ I can’t wait for spring and summer when my stores are more stocked. I like that hoya and the mistletoe cactus. I will have to go to my Lowe's and look for one. The last time I went they had pink princess for $20. I wish I would have gotten one☹️. Could you please do a video on the supplements/ fertilizers you use? I use fish tank water for all my plants. I have around 150 ( not including all the individual ones in each pot). And also miracle grow. Oh what is pon? Thanks!!
