I do a 50% change every Saturday morning, which is fine on my little 40ltr using a bucket and scoop. Instead of throwing the water away I use it on my house plants, or even the garden. The plants love all those nitrates (and residual fertilizer), no point wasting it!

I agree with Chill. It looks very easy when you (Balazs) do it. But when I try to do it, it's hard and gets messy every time.

For those of you that have Oase Filters, and do not use the supplied Inlets/outlets, (Upgraded to lily pipes) the filter INLET (with the strainer) makes a great water change tool. you can buy whatever length of hose you need and attach. the strainer makes an awesome fish/soil/plant blocker when draining, and an awesome way to diffuse the water when filling. I can put my drain side right into my tub (no need to worry about debris because of the strainer) When I am ready to fill, I have a quick attach pump that I put in a bucket under the tub spout. I correct for temp, add my declor and ferts, and turn it on. Easy, hands free water changes!

I do a similar thing. I suction the water with the oase intake and it goes to the sink. Then connect the hose to the tap with the python connection and that’s it. Same hose, same oase intake.

I do bucket method for my 60p, 2x a week Thu & Sun. 1 bucket out, 1 bucket in. Took me less than 10 minutes of maintenance. Hate long hoses plus my tank is quite far from the water supply 😆

Awesome job guys! I always learn something new from these types of video! I've often found that the filter hoses get stuck or are difficult to remove from the lily pipes, a really handy tip I've learned for getting the filter hoses off is to push the hose further up the pipe to break the seal first and then pulling it off, rather than trying to just pull the hose off the pipe, I unfortunately broke a couple before I learned this trick.

Nice revamp! 🙂 Actually I change the water according to the tap water being distributed. During the winter, the tap water is like 15°C and I can adjust the temperature to the tank, changing 60-70%once per week. During summer the tap water comes at 27°C-28°C 🥵...so I prefer to change 20-30%, 3 times per week 👍

I'm sure she will. You are right, it is a lot, if you don't find a way to feel disconnected from the world while you work on the tank, and if this process is actually something you enjoy doing. I do enjoy doing water changes and trimming, cleaning algae from the glass, it lets my thoughts run freely. :) Maybe it's just me...

"Its my tank, i do what i want" Betta's in a jar, Angels in a 60 P tank and the people who advice clown loaches for nano tanks with a snail problem.. i cant stand those ! At home, it is impossible to refill the tank with tap water, too hard, too many nitrates and chemical salts to soften it. In addition, my tank is opposite the toilet. So, I empty with a bucket and I refill with a trash can on wheels filled with osmosis water and a beaker jar. It takes a long time but for me, taking care of my aquarium is like looking at a fireplace.My mind wanders and it's distressing. On the other hand, I don't know at what time the Green Aqua team sounds the bugle but poor Chills seems to have fallen out of his bed! ;)

Hard water from the tap, top up with filtered water from a kettle system designed to take out most of the hardness or water from a condensing tumble drier, otherwise the water will get harder and harder like the Dead Sea. Big water changes are great so long as you don't stress the fish and the tap water isn't high in Nitrates or Phosphates. Big changes temperature and Chlorine are often issues. Good luck.

I find that JBL aqua in-out (which is the one you seem to be using?) will almost instantly clog if i don't use the default "vacuuming" part on the other end that has a kind of a filter to stop bigger stuff from entering the hose. How do you manage to keep it unclogged with just hose on the other end? For getting out the muck from the hoses after cleaning i just use the priming button and direct the outflow hose into a bucket 😂
@MrGhostsword
@MrGhostsword 3 года назад
The water change, and not sure how it in your country, but in the UK and Portugal if you add water straight from the tap, the hot water, it may kill your fish, because the water comes through copper pipes.
@roelnoten
@roelnoten 3 года назад
I use the same hose for taking water out and refilling. Much easier, cheaper and less hassle. Can’t think of valid reason not to. Also I don’t bother filling the inflow tube with water like you did. The filter will suck that side anyhow. You might need to press the filter prime knob once. Ok, there will be some air in your filter which makes noise and disturbs, but that’s gone in a minute or 2.
@roelnoten
@roelnoten 3 года назад
Added benefit: when you store it filled, it will be filled with fresh RO (or tap) water. Much less chance of algae blooms developing in the tube. And store the tube in the dark, like a closet!

for such a small tank, using a big cup and a bucket to change water is much faster than pipes, when you don't need trimming.
@detlefh.7090
@detlefh.7090 Год назад
Try 5L watering cans for small tanks. That's what I use for my 20g which is more comfortable than buckets. And when you let the new water rest for 24hrs you don't even need Prime or such because chlorine will have dissipated by then.

Hi GreenAqua, im new for this hobby, after we flood our tank for the first time. How much bps of co2 should we supply to the plant after DSM? No fish yet at the moment..
@GreenAquaShop

Just as much as otherwise. Too much CO2 will drop the pH a lot which decrease the filter performance.

I change 120 l of water every week (half the total volume of aquarium). Very hard water,straight from the tap. Got rid od external filter as cleaning the dirty pipes was very messy. Now, with internal filter I finally enjoy the maintenance. Got a water pump as relying on gravity do not work when sending water 10 m down the hose to the toilette bowl. Just wanna say do what suits you best and your aquarium. It should ve hobby not a labour.
