I save numerous plants so I can use them from year to year in containers around the yard. These are the containers at the entrance to my driveway. The “stand” and container are actually two of the same, one used upside down as a stand and one to plant in.

The main focal point is a Pencil Cactus (Euphorbia tirucalli). They can be toxic to animals if ingested, but when left alone are stately, architectural, and a great statement plant. In the sun, the ends will turn fiery red - fun, right?
Planted underneath are @provenwinners Lemon Coral sedum and Purple Heart (tradescantia pallida). Both do well in full sun and can be left moderately dry. Soon, they'll be spilling over the edge and really showing off.
Hope you enjoy my approach to filling containers and saving plants that make unique statements! My hope is you can take something from this and translate it into your own yard!
