I live in Georgia with heavy clay soil and finally learning so much about gardening in clay soil! Realized the importance of learning to garden in your own zones. Also told my husband about getting a pole saw to trim our birch tree near our house that has been a jumping zone for squirrels to get on our roof! Thanks for your wonderful informative video!

Every tree and shrub that you plant just enhances your property more and more. You will definitely have arms of steel. I love that little bobcat and auger that must be a real gamechanger and not to forget the new edger. As Jenny says, worker smarter not harder, love it and love your channel.

Oh good. My parents' landscaper put in three junipers that each can be well maintained in a five foot space, into a space that's about 12×3 1/2. I pruned multiple times this year. I might need slimmer options for the future if I ever take them out. I may want to keep one but remove two. A trellis and vine or containers of blueberries or raspberries are the current ideas. However, we have bindweed in that area. I'm not sure whether spindly plants can go there.

Hi Jenny and Jerry... how's it growing? [1] Jenny, I am also a big fan of all kinds of Holly bushes. I especially love the varigated leaf ones. I think the more the 'merrier' [get it? lol] They really are lovely,,, especially in arrangements and different kinds of decorating. [2] I totally love this TEAMWORK! Both of you getting it done. Just working together side by side,, creating a lovely environment. You should be so proud. It's fantastic to see people coming together like this. HARMONY! [3] Great job on the maple trimming. Great mulch could be made out of the branches that Jerry trimmed up. Just send them through a chipper. Remember bagging chipped mulch is a major revenue source!!! -OR- cut into firewood for the pit or fireplaces,, and all the wood ash [pot ash] would also be great for the holes to amend the soil too. [4] I would have put the 'Land and Sea' down in the holes,, not on top of the holes to help with the drainage issues, and also with as an energy source and to give it Should have dropped a good plenty amount of leaves in those holes before putting the bio-tone in there. The 'Land and Sea' sitting ON TOP of the soil is sort of wasted energy. It's doing nothing really but acting like a top dressing,, which is what mulch is suppose to do. Compost IN THE SOIL, and Mulch on TOP of the soil. Compost isn't a top dressing..that's the job of mulch. Compost and leaf mulch down in those holes around the root ball will give it so much energy, it will get them through their darkest days of adapting to their new environment. It would also help with the drainage issue. Same for all the coffee ground and egg shells..all good things dropped into the holes before dropping those trees and shrubs in! [5] That poor edge was working up a storm. It was chewing through something that was NOT very friendly to it. Does look a lot better with that clean edge to define the area. [6] Finished product looks so much better. That entire area is going to be so appealing. Can't wait to see it all come together.

I hope Jerry's back was fine after lifting those heavy trees. It looked like he was twisting as he lifted. I didn't realize you had so much flagstone leftover. If it's not already intended for another area might I suggest you place some of it beside the car doors so as one steps out of or into the car they'll have a dry spot to step? I know you get heavy rains and thought the gravel might get flooded at times. Sort of like painted lines in a parking lot. Just a thought. ☺️

I love hollies and want some on my 1.25 ac. (...zone 4), in Vermont. May be next year. A battery pole saw weighs less and no smell. We are circled by woods and near the mountain can be very windy ... pole saw is great getting broken limbs. Late, are you adding some bulbs / flowers around the hollies ? You two have a good day. :+)

I planted coppery on virburnums as a privacy screen but put them five feet from center to center (since the width is supposed to be 6ft). Since I live in zone 9a southern Louisiana I didn’t want to have to worry about air flow issues and diseases with them being too close. I just planted them a few months ago. Is it worth it to dig them up and move or should I look for something to plant in front of the hedge line to sort of cover that space? Thank you for any recommendations
@smoothsailingmp

@karenbrower9952
@karenbrower9952 2 года назад
If the trees are 12 wide you should have planted them 12 feet apart. Each one will be six feet from the center. If they are only 6ft apart they are going to crowd each other out. Six ft from center for each tree and the will still touch. Jenny I think your math was off.
