Baptisia are so fun and bloom right after my lilacs. The root system is shoring up a spot that wants to erode away. Even my little dog knows how to get it started in the Spring as it dies back to the ground every year!

I'm also a northern Minnesota resident, zone 3. I cold started some false Indigo and Lupines this year early October and much to my surprise they germinated before the first snow! Now I've got them inside and they're getting the royal treatment before spring. Not ideal but I really didn't want to lose them!
We are still in the process of getting through our winter. Still have 3 feet of snow and another 5 inches of snow expected on Tuesday! 😩 Thanks for watching!
