How to plant blueberries and other perennial berry shrubs in your home organic edible landscape. I also got to taste my first raspberries from the canes planted this year. These are low maintenance thornless raspberries.

Well, you're a gardener and a man after my own heart Siloé. Somebody who likes to look for bargains, or to get things for free. Good for you for going for the discount aisle. A lot of plants are just stressed out because of lack of care and watering. And as long as the roots are healthy. As you know, they will come back. Plants are a lot stronger than what we give them credit for. They have the desire to survive. And will do everything to do so. If we just give them a little help along the way. You're very smart by buying your plants this way. It's not only economical, but you're saving plants that would otherwise be thrown on the scrap heap. Again, another fantastic video Siloé.

Thanks for watching. I'm always happy with a bargain, especially if it will save things from being discarde.

I lived in a house that was built in 1908. You are right about finding all kinds of crazy things buried in the yard. It was fun!

Berries are such a delight, as they grow and on the palette. It will be great to see them next year when they are an established set of bushes giving you baskets full. I like the wall display inside of your home with the empty large antique frame as the center piece, some of us would probable enjoy a video that shows your home décor and how you came to the style and your hunt for such items.

So happy for you and your berries! I planted blueberries last year but a deer breached my improvised back-yard barrier and destroyed two of them. I might give up on them and plant new ones later when I get my privacy fence built.

Congrats on the raspberry- and the blueberry bushes will look amazing in the fall against the color of your house. Please give us an end of season update so we can see how they did. I love your videos - the quality- the artistic narrative- the precious bits that we gardeners share in common and make life interesting like that first fruit, rescue plants, and finding things in the soil when you dig. Thanks for making me smile today Siloé.

If they grow large, they will look beautiful, but it will take several years.

I make a citrus fermented vinegar using various past their prime citrus, water, sugar (and added a lil bit of apple cider vinegar mother to get them going). The vinegar can work for cooking and making salad dressings, diluted for cleaning, as well as a soil amendment for acid lovers such as roses and blueberries. When it comes time to strain and remove the fruit in the fermentation process, I will often take the citrus and bury them around my citrus loving plants such as blueberries and roses. Doing that with old citrus/mulching with a bit of citrus peels can be options for acid-loving plants. :)

I bought my raspberry with thorns particularly so my naughty puppy wouldn't eat it. He ate it, thorns and all, right in front of me. I rescued some and think it will survive. I'd love an update on raspberry life...

Berry Nice! (sorry) LOL I loved my berries try golden if you have not, they do have thorns though not huge like wild black berries They are cooler. Maybe less acidic? And my black caps! MMm! I hade around 30 blue berries they were very mature! That chapter is over. So I hope for a future bunch of berry patches! Your new friend G.

Your video prompted me to check on some blueberry seeds I placed in a paper towel a few weeks ago. Sadly no sign of germination. Even if they do germinate there is almost zero chance getting the plant to grow here in Jamaica, but I thought I'd gamble as I've seen someone growing blueberries in Hawaii. Thanks for sharing your experience with raspberries. I'm going to find out which variety, if any, might have a chance of success here. It's a pleasure watching your videos, keep up the good work!

I hope you can grow them, I'm not sure if they can grow in the tropics

I live in sub tropical Australia and we can definitely grow blueberries here, but need to use specific varieties that don't require much winter cold in order to produce. Hopefully you can find varieties that work for your climate too!

Speculating, is it possible that your blueberry seeds were from store bought blueberries that were irradiated, making them sterile?
