I place burlap over my newly planted carrots and water well. The burlap is a great covering keeping the soil moist. I remove it when the seedlings are about a half inch high.

That’s a awesome idea. I bet the burlap holds in the water for a good while too and is heavy enough it stays in place. Thanks for the tip. ❤️

I saw it on internet. Tried it and it works. However it can take more than 2 days for them to sprout. But you can clearly see them when they sprout. My first lot are growing now in the UK in my veg plot. Still hard to keep the carrots from coming out in clumps but they are growing in abundance.

Yes. I did an update video. I think it does help some with the germination. But it took mine 18 days to sprout still. So still a bit of a wait. I will keep playing around with different things. I’m also trying out seed tape for the first time.

@@jencordial I think the idea is that you wait until they sprout in the pre soak before you add them to the corn starch and with a magnifying glass you can see when they have.

Another way is to germinate the seeds in potting mix in the fridge. Worked well for me. The advantage of the cornstarch is you can get better separation between plants so you won't need to do as much thinning.

Potting mix in fridge. I’m intrigued. I might try this this spring. Hadn’t heard of that one before.

I got carrot seeds that didnt come up, so I went and got Burpee carrot seeds, and kept them watered, most them are 3 to 4 inches tall. the first time I have grown carrots and they look like they are going to hang in there. I have to water twice a day sometimes. I'm excited to see how they turn out.

Hello. I think yes in regards to germination. I had excellent germination. As far as spacing I’m not so sure. It looks like I will have to do some thinning still. But I’m thinking if I play around with the cornstarch mixture and make it not as thick and a little more for the amount of seeds it could bring better results. Im putting an update video up this weekend. Thanks for commenting. 😊

I’m hopeful I’ll get at least a few carrots. Maybe I’ll do a taste test.

It's not 'Nanettes." It's Nantes, pronounced naant. They are named for a French city.

Thank you. I’m terrible with pronunciation. It’s a work in progress. 😀

Good job 👏🏽. I use cornstarch gel but now I put the gel down and then place the seeds on top, coveringing with sand for good contact. Then I water💦. Works well.

Thank you. I did enjoy planting carrot seeds this way. Your way might allow more control with how many seeds are placed and to be able to do it more evenly. I might give your way a try. Thanks for the tip. 😊
