I just love your videos Karen. I also love that that there seems to be a lot of us alike… , buying plants, and them leaving them in their pots, and then it’s a ‘oh heck’🤣🤣🙈
I love the chats. My garden seems behind, and I have plants to put into the ground just like you. So I'm clearly in good company 😅. Love watching the bees 🐝 getting busy on all the flowers. Thanks for a fab video xx
You are so sweet. I love watching you try things and figure out your garden. It is refreshing to learn along with you and see the beautiful space you create. I would also love to have a coffee in the garden and listen to the bees! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Karen! Thanks so much for the video! For the BBQ, something that we love to put on the grill are onions-like the Vidalia or sweet variety-put them in some tin foil with a bit of butter or oil, wrap them up and throw them on like a potato. Nothing like it-reminds me of the fair! I am from the South in the US and we also love to put chicken quarters on and baste them with a mixture of cider vinegar, pepper flakes and ketchup, which is delicious as well but a bit spicy depending on how much pepper flakes you throw into the vinegar sauce. I also had a question for you-how do you deal with slugs/snails in the garden munching on all of your veggies? I live in the French Alps and this year especially, with the amount of rain we’ve been having, there are so many and they’ve eaten so much of my garden.🪴
I cannot get to garden this year so far, it has been raining non stop, today is actually storming! This year is doomed for gardening. Between snails and slugs it is a failing battle. Luckily your videos always brighten my day.
Hi Karen. I always make my corn on the cob on the bbq. Remove some of the husk, soak the cobs in water for about 15-20 mins and on the bbq they go. Ready in about 15-20 mins! You can make fancy butter mixes for them too😃 I like the chatting and hearing you say you sounded demented I almost burst something 🤣 The robins were helping me garden today! They were looking to see if I was digging up any treats for them. I think the other plant in Joanne's garden was a spirea. Love her peonies 😍😍😍and her Japanese maples 🤩
I prefer just listening to you talk, it’s very soothing! With the music I often find it’s a bit much. I’m also growing a raspberry plant for the first time - it’s a dwarf variety and I’m leaving it in a largeish pot ❤
I like your chats ... I am feeling better about my weeds and doing my best each day (or when it's not raining). I think your garden looks lush and healthy.
Be careful with the raspberries. They can be invasive. A friend planted some in a border and the plants took over. She had to spend a lot of time and hard work to remove them. I love listening to your chats and prefer the chats over music. Always enjoy your videos. We are entering into a big heat wave here in eastern US. Have to go out early in mornings to water. Not a fan of hot weather!
Your Wisteria will grow, they’re notorious for slow growing we have one which is about 8ft high x 6ft across and it took 5 years before we had any flowers it’s on a south facing garage wall. Wish I could send you a photo of it as it’s magnificent when it’s in bloom. I prefer the chat to the plinky plonk music 😊🌸🤗
‘Focus Karen’ 🤣😂🤣😂 - this is me being distracted every 10 secs 😆. Gorgeous garden update albeit a bit weird watching you doing an impression of me 😆😆😆. Loving the chats and your lovely garden keep ‘em coming ❤
Plant the raspberries in big pots instead of in the ground as they will spread like crazy and you won't have access to anything in your border. Raspberries are not natural climbers, but they can be trained to grow up a trellis with some help. Trellising can help raspberry plants in several ways, including: Containing growth: Trellises can prevent raspberry plants from taking over a small garden. Preventing falls: Trellises can support tall, heavy plants from falling over. Harvesting: Trellising can make harvesting easier by keeping the canes and fruit off the ground and leaving enough space to walk around. Fall-bearing varieties: Trellises can be especially helpful for fall-bearing raspberry varieties that can grow tall in fertile soil.
Thank you for this Vlog, I quite like the chatting while you are planting, you remind me of me I talk to myself and my plants too! BBQ idea, get your butcher to butterfy a leg of lamb and look on the internet for a marinade, it cooks in about 20 minutes and is absolutley amazing. We stumbled accross this recipe only last year! enjoy x Your garden is coming along nicely, I am hoping to move this year, so not doing much in the garden this year!
Love the cometary.. Mum did an Edward Scissorhands.., Wait the clematis is getting friendly with the wisteria and I believe in you ( marigold ) you will come back. Thanks for the bees sounds.
it's a weird gardening year. Here in Scotland it was hot earlier in the year, always wet in the spring but this year it was so warm and windy in between that the garden dried out so quickly. Now it's cold. Really cold. My peony didn't flower. My peas aren't taking. My tatties haven't flowered either. It's hard to keep on top of the grass and some of my beautiful spring blooms got wrecked in the wind and heavy rain! Never mind. I still love pottering and planting. Keeps me grounded.

Thank you for bringing us along . It's great to see how your garden is evolving. I enjoy hearing you talk as you work, but music is fine too. The bees sounded like they were right by my ear. Thanks for the video. Your strawberries look wonderful.
Cabbage steaks in foil , olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt pepper & a cheese blend of asiago, parmesan & mozzarella. Cut cabbage 1 1/2" thick. Wrap in foil and bbq.
I love the random chats in the video 🥰. It’s more personal and less… influencey?? 🤔That’s not the word but you know what I mean🤣🤣. I’ve got a loganberry bush/tree and I’m definitely going to need a trellis asap it’s shot up in the last two weeks.
Ok that’s on our list - get our trellises up! I’m going to wait and see if my raspberry bushes start to grow before trying to install a new trellis 😂 Re the chats, I get it and while I like doing the intro and outro to camera, having the chats while I worked was actually really nice!
Karen your garden is looking so pretty and so is your sister's . My rasberry has been for 3 years and last year it haf 3 fruits all of which my little blackbird gound brfore me. This year it has really taken off and there are hundreds of raspberries. Thankd for sharing xxx
Your strawberries, wow, nice work, here in Cali I still haven't gotten a harvest so I have given them up but you have inspired me to try again, your sisters garden is beautiful, you two are so talented
Bbq ideas. - Grilled pineapple - Marinade kebobs of red peppers, zucchini and mushrooms - bbq pizza - asparagus with garlic and cheese - grilled fish and prawns with chili lime sauce or lemmon pepper
Does BBQ have a recipe? Salt, pepper and throw it on the fire add a little sauce if you want. Cook to desired temperature. (Need a good meat thermometer) Enjoy. Love to cook fish or chicken, in parchment lined, foil packets with veg and peppers. yum. Buzzing bees doing their job while you have fun digging and planting. Everything growing good. Thanks for taking us back to sister pretty garden. The last hydrangea looked like a mop head variety and should be large. Love her rescue plants. Take care and have a great week.
@@Lovelygirliebits I marinate cubed beef and make kebabs with vegetables. A little fancier serving with baked potatoes, rice etc. Marinate in soy sauce, garlic, ginger and olive oil. The usual suspects. ha ha
I love listening to the bees. For some reason iv not had little birds in my garden for two years now. I miss the dawn chrouse. Your garden is looking well and your sister has green fingers. Thanks for sharing and catch you next time.
You have made me feel wonderful, I love pottering in my garden poking at this and that no real coordination in it at all but it’s colourful various different shades of green, weeds every where plants in pots half dead looking but I love it and you have lot more coordination in yours though, love the chatter too instead off the plinky plonk xxx 0:06
I did plant 1 Raspberry Bush 3 years ago. I cut it back every late fall. It has "escaped" a really large metal container, and it is trying to take over the yard. You will most definitely need to trellis it over time. I wish I had controlled it from the start. Lesson learned. Have a wonderful week.
Oh yes, raspberry bushes are very vigrous. I battle with them all the time. You really need to stay on top. And it is almost impossible to get rid of them. They grow back from small little roots left in the ground. But I love to eat them so I have to be ok with that. 😅 (PS: There are summer and fall raspberries. In my yard the fall ones behave much better!)
As a veggie I love to make burgers out of halloumi or tempeh. Both work super well on a bbq. Whole cauliflower with a yoghurt and za’atar marinade is also really good, as is whole butternut squash or cabbage “steaks”
@@LovelygirliebitsTempeh can look a bit confronting, but it’s much better than tofu, imo. Takes on pretty much any flavour you want it to Your garden is coming along a treat. I’m fairly new to gardening so it’s really helpful following your journey
Hello you have beautiful plants. I think you need a male and female raspberry plants, I could never get mine to bear fruit and was told this, I no longer have them. Take care, I like the chit chat along the way. 😊
great vlog can you tell me what the pink rose is called op the purple one next to the chair love dogs but that one needs to go on a very long walk 🤯 your sisters garden looks lovely
I love to prepare sweetcorn on the cob in the microwave. Then wrap it in raw bacon and smear honey over the bacon. Just bbq till bacon is done. Its delicious
Good afternoon Karen the shrublike plant in your sisters garden near the peony is a Spirea. Joanne’s garden is so orderly and full of colour, not saying that yours isn’t. 🌸🌺 See you soon 💖
The one thing I have heard about trees is, the first year they are kinda in shock, second they are focusing on roots, and the third they thrive. This has been true for my apple trees I planted in 2020.
Loving your garden video but can I ask are u planting deep enough ? Going to have to sort my garden out but it’s so back breaking I find it hard (lynn)
Don't put raspberries in the ground they will spread like crazy I made that mistake and it is a constant battle to keep them just cut down to some sort of order
Enjoyed this video Karen - love the chats when you're planting rather than music! How is that dog allowed to bark for so long. I have 2 dogs and if they were outside barking for any length of time, I'd take them in rather than disturb my neighbours! By the way, I have the same 2 acers in my garden as your sister. Planted about 20 years ago, they are now higher than the house. Colours are stunning in the summer and autumn!
I purchased two hosta plants on 19th of may. They are still not planted out. I don’t have a job,no kids, yet they sit in their pots. So don’t feel bad,I am far worse. 🥴🪴🪴
