Great design Leon, thanks for sharing. However I found by adding 2" of stones at the bottom of the plastic containers, it helps the soil to dry out every month or so, which keeps the soil from getting sour. I use this idea on my concrete roof where I have trees growing in large plastic containers which I then put into larger concrete containers. The trees provide shade and make for a beautiful garden setting on my roof. I live in the tropics in an area that doesn't rain that often but when it does it pours. I needed away to capture the rain in a low maintenance and mosquito proof way. Now if there is a big rain the water is stored in the plant containers instead of washing away or going into under pot platters that would allow for mosquitoes to breed. I also use a piece of clear plastic tubing to stick in the pvc pipe to check the water level by covering the top with my finger like a straw and pulling it up. God bless...

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❣ I've been using method number two for 20 years now and it works wonderfully I've started lots of apple trees and actually been growing pineapples in Southwestern Colorado pineapples take about four years though before they start producing and I only have five one that's produced and the other four from plantings from the mother plant mother looks like she's about to produce again . I always use the standpipe but I use wash stone instead of laying pipe in the bottom . I used the yard cloth only because I was given a few free rolls before that I use cardboard with no print and or straw works very well . I use clay and concrete pots , plastic and Metal watering troughs . The pot or trough I am growing in I make sure is well-ventilated from the sides as well as the bottom but has good support . 2 to 6 holes on the sides depending on the size of the pot and one good hole in the bottom in the middle is enough . My property is pretty much all clay so outside I dig a hole to set my trough or pot in leaving a good trench all the way around it . then the trench gets filled with cedar mulch . if I were in Porous ground I would definitely use a liner . inside everything's in a pot in a shallow trough or tub . I put the pot in the tub put the stone in the pot . then around it in the tub , doesn't need but two inches thick and inside the pot 3 to 4 . The very first time I actually did this with a raised bed over a bed of stone 4 in deep 8 in in the ground . It was 10 ft long 4 ft wide 3 ft tall with two and a half feet of my composted soil . the sharing of peace light loving gratitude and pH balance give equalizing freedom !!!!!!!!9 HHBpHhelps Henry

If you want grow your trees larger and Fuller, you need very heavy buckets, For this you will fill the buckets halfway with large gravel top with 3" sand, top this with dead matter like fish and chicken gut scraps, chicken poop horse manure ect. Add some enzymes and mis well with sand. Now bury your tree in soil to the top. Now drill one pencil size hole we're you want the water table in the bucket to maintain. Drill 2 - 2" holes 6 " apart across from each other 4" down from the rim. Get some 2" rope, cut in 1' lengths, put ends of rope in hole, splay ends of rope over itself and tightly wrap with bailing wire to form your knots on the inside of the buckets. Now you have self moisturising pots with good base material for tape root growth good spread root propagation and proper weight to keep it from blowing over. Handles to move it around or draft g it. all plants and trees need a ground connection, for this you will need to put a copper pipe in with the plant from bottom to surface of container and a solid copper wire running to a copper pipe 3' in the ground beside the bucket. Do one this way And one with no ground connection to see the difference it really makes in growth and health of the fruit. Water, nutrients and sunshine are fine and good, but with out connection to the mother's source of energy all things suffer to grow and strive. Bath naked in the morning glow and walk bare footed some times. You'll feel better than you do already. If my advice helps you. Keep your dollar I don't need COMPINSATION for helping you.
@HJG-1019
@HJG-1019 4 года назад
I am confused about adding the 'copper wire for grounding'. Is this to keep plant 'connected to the earth's energy'? Cuz l have noticed some potted plants dont seem to like it in the pot. Is this true even if the potted plant is sitting on the ground (not raised up)? Thanks in advance~ Any more info on the subject is appreciated!

In a colder climate, water at the bottom of a wicking bucket will freeze solid during winter months and destroy the bucket.
@darlenewilson9095
@darlenewilson9095 5 лет назад
algo Tip them over (buckets) and drain all the water you can get out of them and put the lid that’s made for them on it or cover the container with a new garbage bag not opened and lay across and take a string around them and tie the bag tight on container. Lay a few small rocks on top and leave it till summer. Mine done pretty good by covering them. I thought of the same thing you did. That they would bust. But I covered them and they seem to have done ok.

@@berlwright7029 they are used for other animal besides cattle. Check in at a local feed store. Another option is to use 55 gallon barrels. You can cut them in half and make 2 tubs. Just make sure when you get the barrels you get the To seal the holes. I actually use 2 barrels that are 2/3 tall. I cut off the top of 1/3. That's when I grow my potatoes in. With barrels new just want to make sure it's a food grade plastic and hasn't been filled with the anything toxic. A fine old choice would be these tubs I have gotten at my local hardware store. They look kind of like big clothes baskets with to rope handles. They work great but they cost me nearly $10 each. But that's what I have on the front porch because my wife thought the other tubs were kind of ugly.

A question about the milk jug-soda bottle tub: the water filling tube is connected to just 1 milk jug -- how long does it take to fill the system up with water, given that the water has to diffuse from the single jug to all 7 other milk jugs + soda bottles? It seems that it would take hours to diffuse to all the bottles-jugs, does the system need to be checked and topped off several times each fill-up? And how can you tell if the overflow hole is spilling because the water has not diffused to into all the jugs-bottles or if the system is really full?
