Hi Caleb! I love your channel! I’ve been cooking and gardening for years so it’s always wonderful to find people who are just as passionate to share and find new ideas. What I love about your channel is you explain everything you do and the whys behind it. I have learned so many new things from you that I realize I didn’t know. Your a wonderful teacher Caleb! It’s what separates you from the others! Your passion is infectious 🥰 I’m waiting for a mojito recipe with all that mint❤️😉
I got soooo burnt out on watering my corn and tomatoes last year, that I’m gardening vicariously thru you this year. Thanks for all the beautiful videos! Praying for rain! 🙏🏻☺️
Your videos on everything from cooking to gardening make my heart sing and aches to return to optimum health so I can get back to my passions! You are the best medicine.
Maybe you can show us what the whole outdoor patio area looks like in another video, and discuss how you came up with the design? We only got tantalizing glimpses of it in this one. Thanks!
Have had my bay leaf “tree” for about five years now and it supplies my family and friends. Fresh, it only takes one leaf compared to two or three dried ones. The oils in the fresh ones are very fragrant.
My bay bush has grown into a beautiful bay tree. I keep it in an container. The leaves stay a shiny green all year round. It went from one foot to four feet within five years. You can’t beat the flavor of a fresh leaf. It takes two to three dried leaves compared to one fresh. 😊
Your enthusiasm is infectious. I live on the east coast to Central Florida zoo year’s ago I bought a half dead Guava plant of all places Walmart, eight dollars I told it this year if you don’t do something you’re 15 foot tall eight for the cost you are going to the compost heap. I was out fertilizing and pulling weeds and low and behold I had a tree fall on baby guavas I smiled. I go well we got babies we got babies. My neighbor looked at me like I was crazy that’s OK my husband understand lol love your channel.😎
Love your videos! So good to see someone "tease" the roots on pot bound plants before planting. So many times I see videos where the gardeners (sometimes even pros!) do not do this and it makes me cringe.
Dude I just need to carry you around with me 😂. Luckily I have a cell phone so it doesn’t have to be weird 😂😂😂😂😂. Thank you for all the tips and tricks.
I put a thick bubble wrap in my terracotta pot then add soil and then add the plants, finish with soil. The heaving in the winter will bounce and be flexible with the bubblewrap in place. Works great.
I cover my drainage hole with coffee filters then some rocks on the bottom 1-2” for drainage. I know the filters decompose so usually use on smaller containers knowing most plants will be transplanted into a larger pot..
Love your channel ❤. Had to laugh about the old dried bay leaves - we use it in cooking BUT I don’t even really know what it tastes like 😂 Will be on the hunt for fresh bay plant. ✅ Recently bought assortment of herb seeds to grow because in Florida we have great weather year around. Truly appreciate all the helpful guidance. This will be first time growing the “real deal”. 😀
What specie for bay leaves? Bay Laurel??? Also, how much light do you give them when you over winter them (rosemary, too)? Thinking about in my basement, which would be warm but not lots of sunlight. Thanks for all you do. I look forward to hearing from you daily!! Keep up your good work.
Can you talk about terra cotta pots verses plastic? I don't love the look of plastic but find terra cotta dry out really fast. We get no rain in summer here (western Washington zone 8) so watering is a constant hassel. Thanks for letting us visit your garden.
I don’t know if it’s because of the zone I am in ( Portland, Oregon), but my French tarragon spreads out and I’ve had it for over seven years. Love it in chicken salad and stew and we make a hearty and thick legume and spinach and herbs soup. Do you have any tips for growing coriander. One plant in a pot in the shade does ok. But in my raised bed it goes to seed in a week!
I need to know more about this plant room. Do you have lights set up? I've tried keeping rosemary and it just curles up and dies, even on my kitchen window sill? Is it really just going dormant and not dead? Oye. So many years of rosemary plants. And I'd love to find bay plants too.
Hello just wondering I live in zone3 I tried for 2 years planting garlic in the fall and never see the result in the spring..Any tips or input that you can give , really appreciate it.
I would love to grow herbs but I know nothing about how to actually use them! Tea would be great but I know nothing on how to dry them!?!? How do you use herbs you grow??
Drying herbs can be as easy as cutting a bunch, tying a string around them and hanging them in a cool dry spot. you can also use a dehydrator on low. I am on a low salt diet so use a lot of herbs to flavor my food with a little salt. Thyme, oregano, parsley, and rosemary are just a few great ones!
Also dry herbs on racks you use to cool baked goods. Once dry break down and put in jars for use. Baking sheets help with this process. Some herbs dry in days. Others in a couple of weeks.
I put herbs like thyme and oregano in my beds because the flowers attract pollinators. Sometimes I put the leaves in salads, basilis really good this way.
