When my Dad was alive I used to go over and help him with his yard and garden and it was one of our most favorite times together. I now have most of his garden tools and every time I take one out to use it I feel like he is gardening right along side of me. 💚
Hi Laura. After watching this video this morning, I got on my gardening clothes (jeans and my Garden Answer t-shirt) and headed over to my mom’s house. I’ve been meaning to clean up the beds in the front of her house for weeks now. Your video inspired me to do it today. It made my mom so happy! Made me happy, too!
Always love seeing your parent's gardens!!!! Everything looks amazing! Excellent job!!! 💕 I planted a winding pathway garden of Hostas, Virginia Blue Bells and Ferns to connect my neighbor's and my yards in a little shady spot for my grandkids and their kids to walk through it or when we go to each other's houses. It is like a wooded fairy garden and we all love it!!! 🌷🌺
I really liked what you said at the end about going to work in someone else’s space, even just to pull weeds, does something for them AND for you. I’d like to share with everyone in the comments about the Buy Nothing Project. It’s a wonderful project of starting local groups of neighbors who want to give and receive and lend and help one another, no money or bartering needed, and no strings attached. It’s all about giving, receiving, and gratitude. While folks give away all sorts of the normal stuff you might normally see resold, there is also a special set of gifting called “gifts of self”, “gifts of time”, and “gifts of talent”. Helping a neighbor with plants and gardening in their space could fit into any of those non-stuff gifts. And in addition, you can be able to give away (or ask for!) supplies, seeds, plants you have pulled out or divided, extra seedlings, good soil or fertilizer, pots, extra food from a harvest, and even find neighbors lending their big stash of tools. If you think “wow, how nice to go help in a friend’s garden for the day” but don’t know of anyone who has one or needs the help, join your local Buy Nothing Project and offer the gift of a set of hands in the garden to your neighbors!
the way you explain the why and how of plant selection is very helpful to me. I also have learned to look for the Proven Winner logo while I am shopping.
I just LOVE you guys and your mom is just the nicest person! When I visited a couple weeks ago I could tell they were busy! busy! busy! But she took the time to ask us where we were visiting from and a couple other times stopped US to chat. Loved that!!❤️❤️❤️
YOUR PARENT'S PROPERTY IS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS 😍 I LOVE WHEN YOU TAKE US THERE. What an amazing daughter you are to help them with the gardens. I'm blessed with an amazing daughter also so I know they are so grateful 🙏 💖 TYFS GOD BLESS YOU ALL 🙏
Such a great platform..don't ever sell out to the mainstream programmed world..God is longing for the world to just be real..True to him..you are the perfect fit for this..would love to hear you mention him..God has you and your beautiful family !
I have to remind myself often that I have to build my garden thru the years, not all at once like I’d like. There’s no way to get the look of your parents gorgeous garden instantly. BUT it’s my goal! I have to have patience and just keep at it for the long haul and quit trying to do it in one spring. Lol.
And then you change your mind. Early on, when I first bought my house with its clean-slate garden I had ideas how I wanted my gardens to look. Not having much money at the time, the gardens had to wait, and wait. Today, they look nothing like what I'd planned. I'm kind of glad I waited.
“Aren’t these all pretty?” LOL. You are so adorable when you get excited about flowers. Your enthusiasm never wanes, which is why the world adores your channel, your home and your family. I understand your excitement. My fist visit to a garden center in spring after a cold Ohio winter is like the kids entering Willy Wonkas chocolate factory! Thank you and your husband for being a bright spot in my day and making me feel like you’re my best friends. It’s a wonderful trait!
Thank you so much for brightening my day. I love your videos and look forward to them daily. They bring me so much peace and joy and are a wonderful distraction from sad and scary things.
Hi Laura! What a special thing you did for your parents! I'm sure they'll love looking at everything you planted along with all of their other beautiful plants. I love their garden! That Birch tree is absolutely beautiful! I'm glad you grouped the Hostas and Heucheras instead of planting them in rows. So much prettier. Thank you for sharing!
It is so sweet that you go help and planet for others. I have been sick this spring and one Saturday morning my neighbor and her mom showed up and mulched my front needs and brought me ferns for my porch. Then my daughter planted my pots for me the next day. It was such a blessing just as you said. Thanks so much for all of your videos. I love your channel
The tiny yellow ranunculus look so nice with orange oriental poppies. I had them all around a big poppy. glorious! Your parents gardens are the most beautiful private gardens I've ever seen.
Thank you Laura. I'm going to my Mother In Law house and plant something in her yard to enjoy. Thank you for showing and sharing your love to your neighbors and families. It's something I will pick up from you to help me be a better person. 😊❤🥰
I just love seeing you & your Mom together, it's obvious where you get your pleasant disposition...I never had that with my own mother but I do have it with my only child and it's "glorious." I saw the video with you both Antiquing in Boise May 2021 (Harley Chandelier : ) so I'm scanning for videos with Laura & Mom. Have a superb day and hug for your Mom too : )
Laura & Aaron, thanks for taking us along on this project! I love your parent’s garden so much! It is just so peaceful and spectacular at the same time. I could spend hours there, exploring their plants and gardens! You are so right about it being a blessing to do this for someone else. I think I’m always blessed more than the recipient when I’m able to do this, which I do for my elderly neighbor and my aunt who is 83 and has always had beautiful gardens. She’s not able to do the work she used to do, but is always so happy when we go and take care of her gardens and plant for the new season. I love it! Benjamin is growing so fast! Loved the shot of that squinting face! 🥰 So precious! Thanks again for doing this! 🙌🙌💚💚🌿🍃
You've definitely got your mother's eye. I approve of the revised positioning of the heucheras and hostas. Now, that is a gorgeous combination. Always love seeing your childhood home and garden. Still smiling over Benjamin and his cousins petting the lions. Say hello to your mom and dad from me. ~ Lisa
You are a wonderful daughter planting your parents garden. I’ve been looking at your channel for the past few years and always enjoy seeing you plant your own garden and helping out others as well. I am looking from Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean . I have a garden myself which is not as prolific or beautiful as yours, but I’m trying. I absolutely love seeing Benjamin and Aaron out helping you too. I’m looking forward to seeing the progress on the new property.
sooooooo Gorgeous Laura,..loved how you placed everything,...I am learning so much from you,..yours and your parents yards are such a fabulous sneak peaks as to how I imagine Heaven to be!
Don't they say that the key to happiness is to do little things that make other people happy? Loved this video, your parents' garden is looking incredible!
I absolutely love seeing Benjamin in the garden with you. Thank you, you give me lots of inspiration. I just have to remember to control myself when buying. I want everything! LOL
Loved this video. You are blessed with wonderful parents and they are blessed with a great daughter and son in law. And also the cutest grandson ever!!
I love that you talk about color, texture, and weight! It's so important to see design and understand how the eye moves around. Has anyone ever just painted those water box tops brown or black to blend into the ground color? The green that fades really stands out, so just wondering how a different color would look. That auger, yes!!! And Laura, what a wonderful daughter you are ♥
Hi, Laura! Can you share how your parents met, and a little of their story of how they got started gardening and with the seed company, please? Seeing their garden is such a treat!💗
Laura, you beautiful soul, you spoke to me at the end of this video! I returned from the nursery with a flat full of plants when I only intended to get slug bait. Most importantly one was a blue spiky plant, forgot the name, bought to replace a red cordelyne in one of my beds in an area where there was too much red and yellow tone foliage. Thank you so much for your tutelage!
Thank you so much for all of your videos. Since the lockdown in our country I've been busy gardening and it really relaxes me...helps me cope up with things...your videos are one of those things that really make my day...thanks a lot!
Man Laura no cart what a long n tedious walk back n forth with a large hall. What a loving daughter and son in law😃😃. You are indeed getting a work out no need for a gym. This planting is gorgeous
It was so nice of you to add plants to your parent’s garden. You have inspired me to get some serious gardening done which has been hard for me to do with the passing of my mom this past Christmas. There are two areas that are favorites, the way you reconfigured the hostas, heuchera, and the addition of the lobelia. The other area is where you placed the purple fountain grass. All very nicely done.
Yeay!!!!! I'm so in love with your mom's garden! I love your garden too, but truly appreciate the tours and updates in her garden throughout the year. I like to see what it looks like throughout the different seasons.
I would really love to see a Q & A video with you and your mom. Considering how well-versed you are, I can only imagine the pearls of wisdom she would offer!! 🌸🌱🌳💐
I love your parents garden it is just gorgeous, so peaceful and full of beautiful plants and flowers. I love when you show us how it is looking and I look forward to seeing those plants grow and fill out the spaces. You are always such an inspiration and as I look at my own small yard I have some good ideas of things I want to plant and things I want to do even in my small space. Thank you for sharing this amazing video and it is always so fun to see Benjamin, he is growing so big, and he is just adorable. Take care sending love and hugs, bye for now.
Oh what a lovely video, I can see why you love it so much it is peaceful to watch, it is a pleasure to see the gardens of different people, your mum and dad have a elegant garden. I wish I could do something in a smaller area. I never seem to have enough time. Thank you for sharing this, looking forward for some new ones. 😀🙏👍🌺
Wish I had your smarts and your energy for about a week. Add to that the discount you get from the garden center. I would be so happy!! You do beautiful work and inspire me every day!! Thanks!!
You know, watching you dig holes with that auger convinced me I need one of those (and the cordless drill). I have sooooooo many tree roots that it takes the joy out of planting.
I just love how every time you plant is like the first time. Your enthusiasm seems to never wane. That's the heart of one who was born to be a gardener.❤️
I Love your Parents garden!! It’s so intimate and unique. Your Family is precious!! I have to get a fountain now to put cactus plants in!! Great job!!😀
i love your parents' garden! (your dad is so funny)... so many areas to wander and gasp and admire and it's just such a paradise... i wish everyone had a place in their life to come home to that's at least a piece (peace) of something like this - it just changes your life and your perspective.. no wonder you have such a love of gardening - look at the influence you had! what special memories to have and continue to create with your beautiful family ... thanks to Andrews Seed Co. for letting us get a peek!! and as always, thanks for the video!!
My mom is a master gardener but can no longer garden. I'm just coming into my interest in plants. I can't wait to travel again and visit her and help with her garden! ♥️
Laura, you’re so right about doing something for others. A good friend of mine had twins 7 months ago and she was telling me she hadn’t gotten her veggie starts in the ground yet. I went over and with the help of her mom babysitting got all of her garden planted and had a blast doing it. It felt so good and she was so appreciative. Great video as always, thanks for the inspiration!
I so enjoy your videos and I've learned so much! Especially during Covid, you brought sunshine and optimism to your viewers every day. Thank you! I especially love your garden tours...just beautiful and so peaceful.. Thanks to you, I've become a committed gardner! And, I love that you help in your parents' garden. You are beautiful inside and out🤗
Your parents house is stunning. I love the new plants you brought over to your parents. I can't wait until we can start decorating around the landscape with some hosta varieties and some roses. Thanks for sharing
I garden for 2 of my older neighbors, and you are so right! I dug a new bed in the one ladies back yard and she just keeps thanking me over and over. Then I turn around and thank her for letting me plant. Its a great feeling! I just wish I had more money to fill it with more plants!!
Heucheras----OH MY WORD THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL and especially the ones by the lobelia. I sure hope we get a tour of your parents garden later in the year. It is so beautiful. I could get lost watching the purple fountain grass in the breeze. And your favorite spot...WOW. I wished you could have lingered that shot more. I grew up around a dad who wanted and had NO trees and loved to spray and kill off flowers so I had no idea how a true garden looks like. I am so happy i came across your channel. i have learned so much. I pray you are all safe in America and stay that way and healthy. Find peace in the garden
