Thanks for the info,i have bought now lots of lilie bulbs on half of the price and was wondering should i wait till autumn to put them into the ground or is it also possible to plant them in july(when i get home where i want to plant them)will they survive during the hot summer in the ground?...So just as you said i hope they will come out with a green stem and then still collect the power to survive the winter in the ground👍
PUt them in now. I have just planted some in May and they are coming up. I also plant some mid august but they tend to not flower. HOwever last August a lily called Eyeliner which is white with a black line around did flower! If its hot and dry just water them or start them in pots for year one and you can easily water them. Even if they do not flower this year they will flower next year.
I don't understand why you can't just plant them, am I wrong or can I plant them whenever I want in the summer as long as you realize that you won't get flowers that year ¿ Or does it somehow kill them because they will try to flower and not store nutrients for the spring? I don't care about flowers this year I just want to get them planted!
You can plant then anytime, I was just showing when is a good time. I have planted them at the end of July and they still flower sometimes before the end of the year. But even if they do not flower they will grow and then flower next year. So yes just plant them. They are my favourite flower. Watch out for the red lily beetle and they drop down when they sense you removing them so catch them from underneath. Also they lay black marks and that is the new lily so put on a glove and just brush over the leaves to remove them without pesticides. Enjoy!
