Nice healthy looking longans! I am no expert but planting a tropical that deep may be the issue. Generally you want the top of the root ball to be at or above grade for several reasons - aeration and drainage being the most important (roots need oxygen and don't like to sit in a swamp). Compost and mulch right on top of the root ball out to the drip line of the plant for it to feed. I too am still learning and am in a different country so maybe your method works best for you and your area though.

I totally agree with what you're saying, but I felt in the case of both longans they would fair better at level grade. I later piled up a mound of compost and mulch 10 inches high.

Nice Longan trees, they look like they’re going to do well. I keep seeing glimpses of your dragon fruit plant in the background of your videos, how are those doing in your zone?

I'm still a newbie with DF, no success as I needed a pollinator, so a couple of years ago I planted a self pollinating variety which might help with the older one. Many Asian growers in my city get great results.

Hey there, what video of yours do you talk about your spacing of trees? Been watching tons and seen some info on keeping your trees short but looking for a focused video.

@RealLifeFruitopia 3 года назад
My 2 Wurtz trees give around 10-15 fruit a year, should be over 100 though. The trees didn't start producing until 5 or 6 yo.

Two possible reasons. Firstly it might have been grown from a seed. Or secondly, it is a type A avocado tree and needed a Type B avocado tree planted nearby for the flowers to be pollinated.
