I was born in south ga. You sound like home. I live in AL now because that’s where my husband is from. I planned to get my mustards in the ground at the end of August. And yes thinning is hard to make yourself do when they’re first coming up but boy have I regretted it when I didn’t. Enjoyed the video. God bless and happy gardening.
I planted my mustard greens near the beets and cabbages. Then I read not to plant the greens near the beats. Should I remove the greens or beets and replant somewhere else? Thanks
No guarantees but bamboo skewers pushed into the soil, with 3-4 inch exposed, and 4 inches apart. The lady of the house discovered this after hand harvesting Buckwheat, leaving 4 inch buckwheat stubble......cats HATE tip-toing through it.
Love me some greens all kinds i like to steam them in a littlebutter chopped garlic and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes, eat them with beans and rice. Braggs amino acids. Only recipe i know
I just subscribed - glad to find you on how to grow mustard greens - I am in zone 8b, 60 miles north of Gulfport Mississippi and have had a hard time finding info on when to plant, harvest mustard. Today is 27 August and I am not sure when you sow - it is still VERY hot here around low to mid 90s and wonder if I should wait another couple of weeks before sowing. What zone are you in NC. I lived in Cherokee NC in the 90s and just loved it but had to move back HOME to MS. There's no place like home. I used to garden with a friend when i was a lot younger but unfortunately was not in charge as when to plant etc and that's been a long time ago - so I guess I am learning all over again - still remember an awful lot but am just having trouble knowing when to plant certain things. This summer was my first garden in my new place and although the soil was not the best condition, I have not been too dissapointed in what grew. The squash bugs devastated my squash and zucchini and as I am trying not to use any chemicals like sevin dust, I guess I get what I deserve!!! As much as I like squash I am not gonna waste my time next year battling with the squash bugs and just grow something else that the bugs don't want to eat. Any suggestions? My okra right now is doing great and i am happy and want to get some greens in and maybe carrots - when is good time for growing carrots? I am looking forward to more of your informative videos and take care.
