You know Lyn I’m going to try and root some schlumbergera cacti stems in water I watched your video on how to root them in water but now I just have to find the cuttings :)

Rooting them in water works so well Ben :-D and the Schlumbergera frony cutting is rooting already in water so fast :-D XXXXXX

Hi Lynn can you do an update on the schlumbergera opuntiodes? One of my two cootings has a nice rooting system already, the other one has a tiny root too. I rooted them laying down and misted them a few times a week on slighty moist ground. I would love to hear how your cuttings are doing and in what medium you're potting them up. I suppose you wont pot them up lying down? Do you think it will benefit from a growing light? Thanks dear I hope to see an update soon as I bought them a few days after you so I can benefit from your knowledge 😀

Hi there :-D yes I will make an update on the S.opuntiodes cuttings in the next couple of days :-D they have successfully rooted and starting to grow new shoots too, I have potted them up in 50% peat and 30% loam and 20% perlite and planted them upright :-D I am so happy to hear that yours have rooted too, thats FANTASTIC news as I have heard from other growers how difficult they can be, so happy that we have had success with this very hard to find beauty :-D I will get the update video filmed for this weekend,

I will do :-D I did have them without lights but now I have them under the growlights for 2 hours a day after it goes dark in the evenings just to extend the day length to help them carry on growing at this time of year :-D but I will include it in my update :-D XXXXX

Brill video as usual haha look at the polytunnel looks nice and green haha are your schlumbergera ok in the garden because my large ones are sadly suffering oh can you do a video on your Hoya plants and could you possibly try and take come cuttings of them in a video x

Did you have any luck propagating your lutea in the water? I just received a cutting in the mail and I'm scared to touch it 🤣

Hi Liz :-D yes I managed to propagate them in the water, but they were so much more difficult to get to root than the traditional Schlumbergera cuttings, and they can be much more sensitive to rot, but if you keep a close eye on them when rooting them they should do well to rot for you, good luck with your Lutea, and thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a fantastic Friday XXXX

I live in the US and have Schlumbergera opuntiodes. Is there a cactus potting soil that would be comparable with the perlite, peat and loam that it requires?

I think I will be bringing in the Schlumergera and the Rhipsalidopsis into the polytunnel in the next few days as its been so wet and windy here, and it will let them dry upo a bit before I bring them into the house to overwinter next month :-D I would love to have a go at propagating Hoya but I am not sure how to do it haha :-D I am still new to Hoya's :-D I haven't got a white S.truncata but i have a white Rhipsalidopsis easter cactus, but a white Schlumbergera would be amazing haha :-D thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching and sending lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from across the Emerald Isle for a FAB Saturday today XXXXXX
