Parents often have misplaced dreams for their kids - focusing on things and achievements instead of focusing on building their character. In his new book, 8 Secrets to Raising Successful Kids, Dr. Leman helps parents place emphasis on WHO their children will become instead of WHAT they become. He offers time-tested solutions for parenting that will help moms and dads plant the seeds of patience, kindness, humility, thankfulness, and respect in their children, as they prepare them for adulthood.
His strategies include starting with the end in mind, expecting the best from your children, modeling a disciplined life, minimizing friction, while optimizing solutions, and keeping the relationship first. The broadcast, recorded with a live audience, encourages parents to examine their parenting style and transform their thinking to get successful results with their kids.

I am going to say a majority of kids stray because the parents preached do as I say and not as I do. Add on to that parents have not rid themselves of their sin, addictions and dysfunction and pass their junk into their kids. The way you fix kids is by fixing the parents. NO MATTER THE AGE!!!!

Thank you! I am a young mom. 2 boys 2 girls and a baby boy on the way!! (All under the age of 7!) This is so helpful. I have been praying and asking the Lord for guidance with rearing my children and staying on the same page with my husband. Our parenting styles are opposite and we're trying to bring them to the middle. I tend to be more permissive and he is more authoritarian. The gentle and understanding way is so important while holding firm boundaries. The power struggles were a big problem and this advice has helped me immensely!

I feel the same way, but has there ever been a parent that thinks they did an absolutely fabulous job raising their kids? I must beat myself up at least once a day, but I have been trying to cut myself some slack and say where was the manual, did you have one? I did the best I could and I’m learning everyday. I have turned my daughter over to her Heavenly Father, and asked Him to please take control and use me as He will.

I will admit that I was very impressed! I was skeptical that being of a more mature age that there would not be much insight on children today. However, I LOVE the insight and advice. This helped me identify areas in which I need to take new approaches and practice more patience.

The 8 strategies: 1. Start with the end in mind 2. Expect the best & get the best. Have high expectations. Kids want to please you. 3. Give and you shall receive. 4. Rolemodel. 5. Discipline, don’t punish. 6. Stay in the course. You’re the captain of life. Know where you are going. Kids are tending to follow leaders. 7. Failure is important. 8. Minimize friction. 9. Keep the relationship first.

Thank you for the segment. Always finding these helpful. How do you get a 5/6 year old not yet understanding their own emotions and how to voice them to understand and tell me what is wrong and how I can help them? My daughter is not really a complain,tattletail type child. She'll rather keep it to herself.
@pandaisfine__5727

I would say, go on a walk or car ride with her. Dont make it about wanting to know her emotions, compliment nature or her favorite song, sing together if you must. My mom got more from me during our car rides than any other time. We'd talk about other ppo/things and eventually I'll find myself opening up here and there. It's not easy but with intention you'll be able to connect with her

Hi. That's because He thinks or knows there is another option. You should make it very clear to him that He HAS no other option. The bible says in Proverbs 22:15 that Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far from him. It is important to be strict with children. They don't know much but pretend to know more than adults because of pride.

You could take time to show them practical examples of where education get them to. Also another thing is to get to know what they are not interested and what interest them more. The. See it there is any way you can build this into their lifestyle. Get to know their interests and build them into their routine. And most importantly, pray for them. It also helps to tell them about how going to school helped you, and what you are still studying now. We are always learning. School is just the initial formal version

But in America, if you raise a kind kid, they see it as a weakness. I don't know how to raise my boys in trying to tell them to be strong.
@esthrraw1731
@esthrraw1731 10 месяцев назад
Kindness is tough. But to remain kind and for boys to be kind, is still possible. Just that he ( or a girl ) as boy growing up need to be able to stand firm when people throw him sarcasms and LEARN to go deep - have his substance... Whichever skill or skills.

8 strategies: End in mind Expect the best Giving Modelling discipline Minimize friction, lighten up Stay the course, be consistent Give room to fail/non-judgmental/ Share own past mistakes Optimize solutions Prioritize the Relationship Ask: interesting, tell me more VS what/why Qs. Hon, seems like something happened earlier, u seem frustrated, I'm all ears.// If u wanna talk, I'm all ears. Sharing feelings open things up. Judgmental shuts everything down.
