Hi. My Ficus Alii has branches with few leaves on each branch. It's bare and ugly. How can I make it to grow more branches and leaves.? Would notching help?
Yes, there are some standard things you can do coming out of winter going into spring. We just released a Blog on our website about some standard things you might want to do. www.plantz.com/blog/spring-houseplant-care-tips/ But, for your Issue. Can you send a couple pictures. Maybe taking a look at and talking over a few things we can get Alii going again. It's probably just reacting to the winter. But light and watering matter? Age as well. How old is the plant? Yes, you can notch but only if the water is back right. You don't want to stress the plant more than it already is. If Alii was to dry or to wet. If Alii was to dry water up slowly, then fertilize and trim. If Alii was to wet, Myself I would change out the soil, in case of fungus, ph levels off. Just a ftresh start to the year. Once that's stable a bit, couple weeks-ish, then trim.
