There is something so wonderfully old school about modelling with just the fundamentals. Glue, brushes, some paint. Generations of modellers did it this way and I seem to remember the results were beautiful. There was hobbyco, a hobby shop located in in George street Sydney in the 80s. They had glass cabinets full of models completed by experts. Old hasegawa f-16a’s, airfix 109s and spitfires, intruders, a huge 1/24 Stuka in North Africa camo that still hangs in the new location of hobbyco today. These were done in the times before airbrushing and pre shading, salt chipping and black basing. How many of us would love to go back to those times?
Such a simple kit, yet beautiful results in the end.. I had this kit several years back and didn’t think much of it, but seeing how beautiful you’ve made this one makes me wanna snatch another one.

That is amazing how you manage to get the paint to level out with no brush strokes. You are one seriously skilled individual. Anytime I used a paint brush on my plastic models you could clearly tell that’s what I used. And obviously didn’t know what I was doing and still don’t. Thank you both for your replies and I’m going to do some experimenting where brush painting is concerned. I have an airbrush, but, I really don’t like using it. 1, it takes a lot of work to properly vent the room. 2, I have yet got it down to an art form for lack of better words as to mixing and what air pressure, etc. etc. 3, Cleaning it up takes a lot more work. Yes, you can’t beat the paint job with an airbrush, but, ever since I started building models probably 50 some years ago I’ve always used brushes. I straight up admit I pretty much suck at this hobby, but it’s something to do. Especially now that I’m disabled. My stuff won’t ever be seen in hobby shops or magazines or even on here, but, I build them for something to do. Anyway, thank you again for the replies and best wishes to you both. God speed

A little piece of advise high quality. White & silver colored pencil will go SO much faster & will even produce as good or better results for weathered paint chipping and instruments than the brush.
Finally, a good job! But has anyone ever measured how much heavier a model painted with a brush, compared to a model painted with airbrush is (= more paint consumption)?

Thanks! I will answer your question. I use enamel and lacquer. Lacquer is mainly used to paint the body. And enamel is used to ink in some line in black or gray color.
