50 years ago today - almost feels like yesterday. Achieving peace has never been more urgent. Let's keep giving peace a chance. I love you! yoko Yoko Ono Lennon, 31 May 2019 imaginepeace.com & johnlennon.com
yep, but now we have all this wonderful over-priced, fascist, corporate police-state technology to make us happy. odd, how, after the "left" betrayed their principles and abandoned their goals throughout the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s, it appears the fascists still have the upper hand. you know what's weird? i just realized there's a correlation between the break-up of the beatles and the rise of global fascism. since 1970 fascism has been incrementally increasing from decade to decade. kinda makes you think, don't it?
February 2024 In the name of the Father, the Son & the Holy Spirit, dear God, through Your intercession, please stop all war & aggression. Let us live in PEACE. Amen. Thanks for praying with me.
May all the gods bless your naivity! When, in the many thousands of years of human history, has any GOD or GODDESS really ensured peace? Muslims fight against Christians and Jews; Christians fight against Muslims and Jews; Jews fight against Muslims... And all this in the name of ONE God? A GOD who only needs all these wars for his own amusement? IF THIS GOD really had the power to end wars, and if humanity's disputes weren't just entertainment for THIS ONE GOD, there would be no more wars in this world for a long time! If any god or goddess really had the power to influence human behavior, ALL of his/her followers would long ago be victors in all disputes... It is a sad truth that the more religious a person is, the more he/she loses their ability to criticize and reason!
The aggressor nation of Russia and aggressive terrorist organization of Hamas really DGAF about peace and they especially DGAF about freedom, or your freedom of expression. Peace at the expense of freedom is not peace at all. But in general I agree. Know war, no peace. No war, know peace.
I came here to say RIP to that guitar player, one of our heroes. He always made me laugh. “It's hard for me to stay silent when I keep hearing that peace is only attainable through war.” -- Tommy Smothers
Yes John, thank you for your unwarranted heir of superiority and the preaching of ideals that you didn't follow in your personal life. People put too much emphasis on John Lennon the person. The only respect he gets from me it is as a musician. As far as being a person goes he could of walked off a cliff with the rest of them for all I care lol Nobody to write home about indefinitely not somebody to thank
@@jaykapolka6111 Not following ideals? Lol that’s a joke of a statement. Did Bob Dylan follow his ideals more than John Lennon? Maybe only Bob Marley. NOBODY else used his platform for change more than John Lennon. He got KILLED for speaking out so honestly and powerfully. Haters gonna Hate but John put it out there for the world, paid the price, and still inspired millions for who he was. His Music and his person are NOT separate. You wanna focus on his negative traits, great, go ahead and miss out on all his greatness
@@hw343434 bullshit bullshit bullshit. He got killed for speaking freely? He got killed because he was a hypocrite and a psycho didn't like it. Name one thing he changed. One. And please make it a good one and something that's not completely laughable
@@hw343434 the dude treated people like shit his whole life. His own son admits it. People act like he was this Beacon of peace and Light. Now I'm hardly one to throw the first time but I also admit I'm not the best person. John should have tried the same. He showed everybody that peace and love except his family lol. Also he was known to treat people like shit all the time. You obviously know this. But you probably choose to ignore it. And quit bringing up other artists. Completely irrelevant. We're talking about John Lennon. If anything Paul McCartney was more honest about what he was then John was. So yeah I'll say it once again. He preached ideals he didn't practice in his personal life. Musicians aren't supposed to preach to begin with
@@jaykapolka6111 he was changing towards the end of his life. He made bad decisions when he was younger but he grew as a person and these messages he put out are more important than anything anyone else did, no matter how wrong his past had been.
I deeply agree with you. This song I agree with. I am frightened for me and my family’s life in this conflict. I am crying listening to this song thinking about what is going on. I am scared for the future xo Rev. Lorie Gonta
@@jeffreyenglish1815 one song of John's solo career and you can pick any one, it overshadows Paul's entire solo career. After they broke up anyone with eyes and ears could see who was the true talent and creativity core of the group.
Hello dear, I might be late in response! but I would love to thank you for loving my music ambitions and support, where are you from? and how long have you been my fan?🎸🎧🎶🎻
@@Seanlennonmusic This is Claudia Heiowski reolying Sean. L0ved your father's (& Paul's, Ringo;s, and George;s) music ever since the release of their 1st. song. Was it not: Help? Problem is, now all the young people want to hear now is rap about guns, gang, drugs, money, sex and complete arrogance. So if one of these untalented hiphop practitioners starts trying to talk about peace they will be immediately shunned, however, if they talk about violence they will be embraced, praised and paid.
@@Alan-su5bg Have you ever heard of dementia, you asshole? Your brain deteriorates and everything you once knew disappears, you become an entirely different person from the person you once were, you can't even remember who you once were. Eventually you get to a point where you can't even dress yourself because you forget, the part of your brain that had that memory is literally *dead!* You're not gonna stay young forever, so have some fucking compassion!!
we need more SANITY in our world. less delusional fanaticism and more acceptance of reality. we need MORE PEOPLE who give a damn. more people who refuse to play the game that enslaves us all and pits us against each other.
RIP Tommy! Kudos to you and your brother Dick for taking on the establishment during The Nixon Administration and spotlighting the terrible and shameful Vietnam War at the cost of your hit variety show in 1969.
Pray for Peace 🌿🕊
I danced with Tom Smothers on top of Nob Hill in San Francisco in 1977. He and Dick were playing in SF when we held a benefit for a fellow performer who had been shot and paralyzed and they asked to join in. All the theatre and music people in SF performed and the drama and music critics were the ushers. It was an amazing night. Tom was a great man. A fighter ahead of his time. RiP I also lived two blocks from John Lennon when he was assassinated in New York. So this video has many layers of meaning for me. Thanks for sharing it.
The fact that Petula Clark of all people ended up on this track speaks to the character of everybody in that room. We so readily marginalise people into groups and artists into genres when all we really ought to see are two expats making the best of what remains of the night, with friends, far away from home. There's something wonderfully platonic and human about the whole thing, and it's not the sentiment that makes you stop and think, it's the realization that we don't experience as often as we know we ought to.
Rest In Peace Tommy Smothers. Not only were you important in this world, You were important in the Beatle World. You were in the Give Peace a Chance video and session with John & Yoko, you also had George Harrison, and Ringo Starr on your TV program. John Lennon was also at your performance at The Troubador in California. That was the night that John Lennon and Harry Nilsson had a bit too much to drink, and were asked to leave for Heckling the Smother Brothers.
@@nikipapadopoulou5035 I've loved Greece, already since 2000 I've travelled in Greece: Santorini (2000), Rhodes (2013), Kos (2018) and Santorini (2019). This year 2022 should travel in Rome, Italy, in the summer, if Lady Fortuna favors.
My mom loves The Beatles and Plastic Ono Band. I never really got why as a kid, but now that I'm grown and understand the cruelty of the world, I get why. Give peace a chance ☮️
Still makes my hair stand on end, my skin tingles and now I feel sad….but, no surrender…peace and love a simple message, but boy dont we need to shout it more than ever. Miss John. ❤️
This message makes so much sense. Crazy that peace, love and caring for nature is not the top priority It is the only way for everyone. Hopefully someday soon it will be.
