I ride metal pedals because I like the grip and they make my drivetrain feel super responsive. My shins look shockingly bad from the scars and I almost never do anything that involves taking my feet off the pedals. I also like to do a lot of pedal grinds and I like how the metal slides more than plastic. I also ride sealed pedals because I hate how loose ball pedals get wiggly after a while. A lot of people I know prefer plastic because they like the flex on hard landings and they grip just fine when fresh
Ruben alloy or plastic are probably the best pedals out there I’ll switch between the two depending on what I’m riding. The alloy version are about 100$. The pc are around 15$.
I use eclat centric and Salt HQ pedals. Both are great, but i would love to have exalt centric pedals in alloy. That would be the ultimate perfect pedals.
The biggest difference for me is that metal pedals rip apart your shins and your pants. Even if you wear pads you have to buy pants more often when with plastic pedals. There are plastic pedals that offer great amount of grip if your shoe profile is a great match.
