Linked to the global initiative “Precious Plastic”, plastic waste is brought into new forms here at “Johannplasto” in Dresden-Johannstadt through local plastic recycling.
Residents of the city and supporters can hand in their plastic waste locally and directly here. This saves transport routes and prevents the garbage from ending up on huge, difficult-to-sort and difficult-to-clean piles of garbage.
At the same time, the aim is to produce useful and long-lasting products from plastic waste. But although it is possible to recycle some of the plastic waste that arises, consumption must still be minimized in order to achieve high recycling rates and initiate a circular economy.
Genuine & local plastic recycling with a low energy consumption is difficult, but the resulting products make a valuable contribution. At Johannplasto, the plastic waste is sorted, cleaned by hand, shredded and put into new shapes under pressure and heat.
