I'm not sure I liked the way you went about making this video. It felt as though you were making fun of this man and because he is from a country where he probably doesn't have the internet he won't ever see it which is even worse. I also found the brief picture of the Black man and the words PAUSE< BREATHE< LOVE on the screen to be poking fun of this man. Why you would be smiling and acting happy instead of showing empathy for this man I don't understand. I think you took the wrong approach and made yourself as a young porofessional look bad. I guess that's what young people do now.

Watching him hug his family and friends, that must have been one of the first times he felt not only comfortable enough to hug his family without wondering if he grossed them out, but it was probably one of the first times he'd been able to give them a full hug in years too. I really wish more people would really think on who holds the power over their day to day lives and how they can take more of it for themselves instead of selling it for convenience and practicality. Personally believe the movement has already started, and it is a peaceful one that I am referring to. Ones that focus on building communities back from the destruction over the past century, focuses on producing locally grown high nutrition Veg and Fruit that is not covered in Round Up, and other harmful substances, and on. I think using Flint as an example of why taking this power back is important. Depending on where you live it is legal to have your own rainwater collection and water treatment. "Who has the money for such things?" You may ask, "Communities." is my answer.

@@SoloAdvocate I think it has more to do with the fact that certain aspects of society have become convinced to fight against their own best interests. These are usually very superstitious types of people who will believe almost anything they are told without much in the way of evidence to back them up. These talking points are often backed up by the very politicians who get to decide this power over us in the first place. This often gets mistaken for actual evidence because they trust these people implicitly to act only in their best interests, but are usually only acting in the interest of themselves. If people had more examples of the people who have slipped through the cracks like this I'm sure things would be different. If they only understood that these things can literally happen to anyone at anytime and that most healthcare plans don't take this into account they would be quite concerned. No that I'm the best at planning for the future but these people never even think about it. They are too busy whining about wokeness in everything, that includes the medical industry to care about their own health anymore. They aren't the majority of the population but they are an influential one nonetheless, they have the power to keep it all tied up in red tape forever sadly.

I know the medical system in the US is very different from here in Denmark, but it baffles me how you as a doctor could look at a man like this and refuse to treat him.. Australian here, US doctors seem to not care-- some of the patients in Dr. Lee's show come forward to her as a last resort because the other doctors they've seen just don't care. Add that to the fact that if you get sick in the USA, you have medical debts that you can't do much about unless you have tens of thousands of dollars to spare.

What happened to this guy at the hospital is highly illegal here in the US. You can walk into any emergency department and be seen regardless of insurance status or finances and be treated just the same. Many hospitals don't even ask for your insurance info until the end of your visit or hospital stay which is nice because it keeps docs from looking at that info and just treating the patient for what they need. It's far from a perfect system but having dealt with "universal healthcare" and US healthcare I chose the US any day. The skill and cutting edge tech, the incredibly short wait times, the ability to choose your doctors and surgeons (even getting as many opinions as you want and basically "interviewing" doctors) is unparalleled. Well worth the out of pocket cost!
@faithbarcelo4795
@faithbarcelo4795 2 года назад
@@elizabethmion4595 @Elizabeth Mion Respectfully, I have to disagree with you. I personally was turned away from an urgent care here in the US for not having insurance and I had a broken foot. I also disagree that the quality of care justifies the ridiculousness of the healthcare system. I would say I receive better care back in Spain, and it's free and I would NEVER get turned away even if I didn't have my medical card on me. The wait times are significantly less, I would never have to wait months before being seen like in America, and the quality of care is much better. Even for things that don't fall under insurance like dental care. Medical professionals abroad ACTUALLY care about their patients, which is something I have not seen in the US unfortunately.

I sometimes cry to myself about it…I hope I can one day afford liposuction to remove them.

Just in regards to some of the commentary regarding healthcare costs, we shouldn't overlook the costs of the medications themselves, or what's required to access them. Dr. Yoon mentioned Soolantra, which is a product that contains 1% ivermectin, and there are generic versions out there. In terms of medications, the cost isn't all that high, with generic products running around $100-150, but for individuals with no health insurance, or drug coverage (I'm Canadian so the distinction is important), it's probably outside the amount they can afford. To add insult to injury, it's prescription only, so the cost to obtain that also has to be factored in, and at the early stages...when it would be effective, it probably wasn't viewed as a health priority...and probably little more than an aesthetic issue. It's good to see him get treatment, and no healthcare system should allow for anyone to reach this point. At least in this case, Roger was able to by treated, and I was honestly amazed at the level of reconstruction that they were able to perform.
@evilsharkey8954
@evilsharkey8954 2 года назад
Even surgery when it was still small would have saved the healthcare system a lot more than waiting until it was so bad that he needed a surgical team, general anesthesia, tracheostomy, and reconstructive surgery. Unfortunately, it’s considered “cosmetic” so he would probably be paying out of pocket, even with insurance. Our healthcare system is so bloated and inefficient.
@eng-eq7xy
@eng-eq7xy 2 года назад
@@evilsharkey8954 I don't think there's a perfect system out there, and there are merits and flaws with literally every one. As I wrote, I'm Canadian, so costs for things like surgery, regular checkups, and even seeing specialists never even come up. ...there are MAJOR caveats however. Unless a condition is urgent, even medically necessary procedures can take an utterly insane amount of time to have performed. This is most commonly associated with orthopedic procedures, like hip and knee replacements. Even though individuals can be rendered immobile from the pain, it's rarely considered to be an urgent procedure, so a wait of 1-2 years is pretty much the norm...and that was pre-SARS-CoV-2. If things are urgent, most get the care they need, and are out of pocket little more than parking fees, and the requisite Timmie's* runs. It's far from perfect...really far, but I will state that I haven't come across anyone who went bankrupt because of a medical condition. At least in this case, the outcome was amazing for all involved.

@@eng-eq7xy I’ve never met anyone from a country with single payer healthcare who wished they had a system like the US, not even conservatives. Canada has socialized medicine, which is a step farther than single payer.
@eng-eq7xy
@eng-eq7xy 2 года назад
@@evilsharkey8954 Actually, Canada is a single payer system, not socialized. Most physicians and hospitals are not employed by, or run by federal or provincial governments, respectively. In the former, physicians operate private practices, however they bill all their services to the relevant government agencies. The amounts they are allowed to bill are set by the government, but in terms of employment, they are privately employed. As for hospitals, in most cases, they are mostly operated as independent institutions (incorporated under the Corporations Act), and are not directly owned by the government. Again, their source of funding is largely from the relevant government agencies, but there is a hands off approach when it comes to direct ownership of them.
@evil1by1
@evil1by1 2 года назад
@@eng-eq7xy the joint replacements are a red herring imo. It not like you wake up one day bone on bone and need a joint replacement. Ever single non traumatic joint replacement, the patient has known for years they needed it and they put it off and put it off until it got so bad they couldn't avoid it anymore. Now after years of procrastinating they cry because they have to wait a bit longer. Boo hoo, maybe quit being cowardly and get it done when it needs done. A lack of forethought on their part doesn't constitute and emergency on everyone elses.
