Jeanne has built 2 side lites for an artist friend who gathered some plates and asked to have them assembled some side lites to go on either side of her door.
We film with eye shields and safety guards removed.
You should have all safety attachments in place and
wear a respirator when cutting and grinding. Use all

Did y'all use a bandsaw to make those intricate cuts around the plates? Very nice windows!

Thanks, I just cut the pieces with a regular hand cutter, they weren't that difficult, we do have a ring saw that we use occasionally on very difficult pieces.

What a great inspiration!! THANKS I was taught to choose foil on clear glass depending on the desired patina; Black backed, silver backed or copper. What patina did your client choose?

We used copper foil, when we got into stained glass there was only copper foil so all artists used copper foil and the over time the color would change to a more gray finish.

Oh this is so lovely I'm curious to know why you on ly foil big windows like this why you don't use lead? Did you use reinforcement in these windows, was it a bit wobbly to carry, you did a great job they looked good in the window, I did ask questions there too because I saw that video before this one Thankyou hope to hear from you soon 😊

We only do copper foil in our studio. We feel copper foil is stronger and more versatile. We have friends who only do lead, so it's up to personal preference. We add reinforcement in some instances, but rarely in a thin sidelight that will be encased by a strong outer frame.

@@GommStainedGlass yes I see that makes sense. As ive only been doing stained glass for 2 years, I like to know why people do things differently, I want to do some peacocks on the front big windows off my house & I would have thought it would look better foiled than leaded otherwise it would look so bulky so I see yr point there, my teacher was very old school leadlight & I like to be different too if something else works I'm happy to try it, so Thankyou, you have a great day 😁
