You're analysing the soundtrack to my childhood. That plucky staccato scherzo at the beginning of this track was one of the first cues I ever listened to from this movie, and it stuck with me since them. Thanks for the great work, as usual.

I feel the same way, Zoltan. I grew up with the Harry Potter books, films, and soundtracks, and it’s very nostalgic and satisfying to go back and study them in such detail now.

@@bradfrey I was 11 years old at the time, same as Harry. You might remember it was a time when the 'digital economy' wasn't mature just yet, and obtaining music was done through rather dodgy means, and a lot of downloads were crappy compressed quality - which is how I first head the whole HP1 soundtrack. Now We have the glorious LLL expanded album, which I wish I had back then, along with the JW Signature Edition scores. It would have gratified me so much to more have all those back then. Kids today are much more fortunate.

Those clusters are very similar if not identical to those in the winds at bar 53 of 'The Adventures of Jar Jar' (from Phantom Menace Suite)

There was a reddit comment some time ago about the progression B-C-D-Eb-Gb-A in bb62-63. I see this is an octatonic progression (Semitone - Tone) until the 3rd inversion dominant on A and octatonic progressions (as well hexatonic etc) adorn pretty much all of JW's work. Great analysis Brad

Very well done! I love your analysis. One thing I noticed while watching was the little reference to Hedwig´s Theme at around 1:20 (b48) in the Harp/Vla (pizz). I didn't find it in your score but I think it's a very fun and subtle way to describe musically that Harry is going to Hogwarts but is not quite "sure" how to get there (safe). A very fun cue!

I’d love to see an analysis of Hans Zimmer’s “Arcade”. It sounds like a relatively simple piece of music, but I wonder what other people get out of it.
