Platinum Century 3776 Soft Fine Hyper flex nib
Even a flexible but quick and sudden nib like a spring can be softened in its mechanical action, resorting to a few tricks, such as making the writing surface softer, judiciously regulating the thickness and compactness of the writing surface.

Hi Marco! I bought my red Century following your advise, it’s even the same one. The only thing is I don’t dare to press too much the pennino. I would like that it will be a little heavier😊

Thanks for the great review as always. I got this pen but had to return. Had issues with it. In this "genre" of pens, I do find the quality & all around performance of the Pilot nibs cannot be matched. Never had an issue with any of my SF Pilots (743, 742, FA15, FA10, Custom Urushi) they always just work. Can you give your advice on which pens you like the best in this genre? I know you have done great older reviews of all the Pilot SF type nibs. The only one I don't really have yet is the Elabo SEF/SF, custom 74 SF The older videos the auto translate doesn't work as well unfortunately. Can you comment of maybe release an updated video 😂. I believe you recommend the Pilot Elabo SEF as a great pen. Do you suggest spending the extra on the metal vs the resin (I believe you said for balance, but know you put some metal in the resin the balance. Thanks Marco! Or any other suggestions in any brand/nib for this feeling of writing which is really what I enjoy the most. You can assume I am using high quality paper always, & this is for joy of writing (not necessarily for "daily" note taking as I have many pens). Always looking to add to collection of worth it. Really love your videos & your advice. Whenever I am looking for a comparison I am curious about, your channel always seems to have the answer! On another note, one of the best pens I have "created" is the Fountain Pen Revolution EF ultra flex (w/their collab with FNF custom ebonite feed/bock housing) & put into Asvine v200. For $110 total in US, it is the best creation and flex pen I have found for price). If shipping is an issue for you I can always send you one if you need! Thanks again for the content/videos.

hello and thank you for your kind words (and for not getting tired of listening to Marco yet!). You wrote everything correctly, in my opinion the custom 74 is a gym where you can get a nice Fine line with a single nib but also a flexible nib that is easy and does not betray. This nib combines the 2 worlds of daily writing and the pleasure of writing. The Falcon Elabo SEF is a damned weapon for calligraphy, difficult and presumptuous, it only wants the inks it likes and only the papers on which it flows well. It is very demanding but it repays with the handwriting. The line is not fully flexible, I would define it as more elastic and this also creates fatigue in the hand. Having said all this, if you want a modern fountain pen that is in between the custom 74SF and the Elabo SEF I strongly suggest the Elabo with the SF nib, much more ductile and available than the SEF. The nib is very good, I also like the resin version (but the metal one works very well too). Thank you for your offer, I tried a Revolution but I must confess that I am much more fascinated by the old Waterman and Omas with their magic nibs, real flexible ones built when that was the only way conceived for a stylograph nib. I send you a warm greeting from Italy and whatever your choice will be, it will be a happy choice that will enrich you.

@@MarcoChiari thank you for the detailed response. I love your beautiful words in describing the pens, as it conveys really how pens have their own "character", like comparing women😂 the beauty sometimes in the more difficult pens. I have a large collection so with enough "daily" writers that are logical😂, I will decide on the Elabo SEF in either resin or metal, although the prices have increased recently. I enjoy that it is a pen to work with and get rewarded through trial & error. Yes I agree with the Waterman & Omas. The 14ct vintage Omas (gentleman extra) is a lovely lovely nib and I love it. I do intend to try to find an extra lucens from '50s, although hard to find in good condition for decent price. My pen mentor (@ShakMD on RU-vid) has just recently gotten the grail Waterman 57 (size 8 nib) and says it is "the one" (although we always say this with our newest pens). You should reach out if and speak with him. His collection is immense & he is the only person I have found besides you with so much knowledge and advice. Any advice on inks for the Elabo? I generally use Diamine & Iroshizuku inks (try to limit so I don't get crazy). Thanks again!

I'm pretty much just use the Clairefontaine Trioumphe 90gsm paper or Tomoe River 52gsm if I want to see any sheen offered (cannot find ruled though which makes hard).

This nib the best nib I have and certainly it is the most fun to use ! However, mine has flow issues after 2 or 3 lines on an A5 hobonichi.... Maybe an ebonite feed will solve the problem ...
