I live in Sydney Australia, these guys are so shy you’ll barely see them unless you go looking for them. I found a baby one in alittle riverbed near my folks cabin up in the mountains after the bushfires 3 seasons ago. Little guy must have lost his mum and was in a horrible way when I found him. Bundled him up and Took him home and then to the vet (who owns the property next door) the next day where they kept him for a few days. Wasn’t sure if he was going ti make it but the little guy pulled through and then a few weeks later he was well enough to be released into the river bed near where we found him. He’s still in the water way and I see him from time to time when up at the cabin. He’ll even come right up to you when swimming in the river now so must be a little less shy around humans now Seriously the most beautiful animals you’ll ever see.

My 5th grade teacher who was also a zoologist at the Denver zoo had one of these in our class, same with two piranhas, snapping turtle, chinchillas, boa constrictor, and a dove. Such a cool class. Duckbill was so neat and friendly.

well, it’s only the males and they mostly just have their venom during mating season. The most *truly* venomous mammals are Slow Lorises. If you don’t know about them, they live in southeast Asia, not Australia. They’re adorable furry primates who face a really tragic plight. You should look into them,

Fact: They are not Mammals. They are categorised as a Monotreme. A Monotreme is an animal that lays eggs (like a reptile / bird) and also produces milk to feed their young ( Like a Mammal) Only 2 Monotremes exist, the second is the Echidna. This is taught in Australian schools, and I just so happen to live in an area where both both live!
