@@motijewelsghatkoparw8516 bruh at 550 you don’t even need openings. Just focus on not giving away pieces for free and take the free pieces that your opponent gives you.
@@motijewelsghatkoparw8516 I went from 600 to 1200. I did two things, make sure to not give away pieces and learn a system general ideas. With white I mostly play London and with black King’s Indian. It was like 3 months of constant growth just trying to be solid
I’m sure it’s been pointed out a lot already, but it’s called the dragon variation because the kingside pawns are arranged to look like the constellation draco.
Levy makes the most entertaining youtube videos because he knows enough about the game to play well, but doesn't treat Chess like it's a holy game to only be taken 100% seriously. Thanks for the quality content!
I watched the show and didn't even really notice the Sicilian being played, but I've recently picked up the sicilian because people who play e4 usually want you to respond e5
The sicilian is popular because it's an opening you play to take risks and play for a win with the black pieces. e5 is an opening which is more solid to equalise with the black pieces.
ive recently been learning how to play sicilian dragon. im rated bout 1000. but so far my win rate for the dragon is about 90%. its insane. thankyou levi
the dragon is such a cool name for a aggressive and powerful opening! But Ive only been able to play the mainline when i was around 1100-1200, as most ppl in the lower elos tend to play the closed sicilian...
@Newton Nathaniel Aizer Gumana ik but it's working for me atm. And I'm now rated bout 1200. So in 1 month I've gained 200 without really playing a lot. I'm a quick learner and learning something I can use till the end is always helpful. I'm learning new mainlines at an earlier rating to give me an advantage
Dude you are soooo good at chess man. I feel so lucky that you decided to start making RU-vid videos. You're literally a chess professor. Such a great teacher. Thanks for all the time you put into these videos.
What a great video. Super pace, tons of variation - time well spent. And yes! Thank you for mentioning our “made it this far” commitment. You are a very good teacher. You make if fun and energetic!
I love your videos!! I tried playing one of the openings you taught in your videos and it makes the game so much easier. Like you somehow just magically have every square covered and its just a matter of time before your opponent messes up. Wish I could get a chance to play you one day but I'm sure there's like 100 people waiting in line to do that. Keep up the amazing content man!
I have really found a unique love for chess ever since I watched The Queens Gambit and watching youtubers like you really makes me want to learn more about the beautiful game!
Wow. This is great. I saw The Queen's Gambit and was hooked. Just learning. The setup at 26:30 is fantastic. Great presentation. You just taught me several levels of knowledge. Thanks.
I've only recently started trying to get back into chess. But ive had a huge issue understanding the ideas behind the Sicilian. This video is perfect, running through the theory then demonstrating variations in games. Love the video, keep up the great work.
The scicillian is my bread and butter opening as black, the accelerated dragon variation and sometimes french variation, but I can never find good theory for a lot of other variations. Thank you for not only giving me the necessary information to persue this, but in general all the videos that have helped me get to the point I am at. From watching you and hikaru you have increased my rating to up to 400 points, and I really appreciate what you have been doing
3 years later. And I hope you're still doing great :) Ty so much for all of your content. I'm currently learning to play to have a shared interest with my nephew who I don't have too much in common with. You have been a tremendous help in the process.
Gottham, good making of teaching videos! I like the format whrein you discuss a little bit about the opening and apply it to your games. Im hoping another content like this! Teach us more Sicillians! Love from PH
Keep making great content! Been watching your videos for 2 months now went from 300 rating to 800! I enjoy the moments where you tell us how alone you really are but talk like we are right with you man!
Thank you for making videos that get right into the content without 2 minutes of a subscribing pitch for viewers right at the "opening" (no pun). Great job.
really love watching your video...you get right to the meat of the issue without too much nonsense! And watching you play while talking is very helpful too.
Thank you! You are a good teacher. I have seen the most of your videos. And you are great teaching people. I'm a beginner so it has been learning to see.
Well thanks Gotham, today I just peaked 1000 for the first time using the dragon Sicilian you just taught me. Forced mate in 4 after outpositioning the opponent the whole game. With this opening I felt I had a counterplay to every single move he played, Thanks a lot! ❤️❤️❤️
very accurate. except Levy has played chess for his whole life and is an IM, and i've played pokemon my whole life and still can't recall all the type matchups
i play this opening a lot when I'm black. been finding a lot of ways for playing the Sicilian my little nephew just turned 8 he is very interested in Chess so i been tutoring him a bit really enjoy your videos iv increased my rating a bit from these videos
Just found your channel yesterday….no apology for putting Beth Harmon’s pic in your video. Queens Gambit sparked my interest in playing chess after not playing for years. Great channel
Awesome. You're a great source for chess information, and I like how enthusiastic you are about sharing the knowledge. You encourage players like myself to press for greatness. Thank You.
I honestly pegged him for multilingual. His pronunciations in English come across as very French to me, and being a Francophone gives you that rolled 'R' sound that makes Spanish sound legit. Just my theory lmao
@@GuitarQueero1 I don't know where you know French from but the rolled R isn't characteristic of French speakers, it is a characteristic of Italian and Spanish speakers that's true but the French can't roll an R to save their life lol. Although I do agree Levy definitely has some French vibes in his speech
@@GuitarQueero1 that's why I said I don't know where you knew French from cause here in France I promise you people can't roll Rs at all it's crazy, maybe it's part of the reason you guys have a better accent in English than we do
Hey man, I am new to chess and these vids are really helping me understand the game more. There is so much more to this game than I thought. While there is a lot of information to swallow at once here, it is very well explained, I understand everything, but remembering and applying what I learn is the hard part. You've earned another Sub 👍🏽
Bro, I just started playing chess after seeing Anna Cramling’s videos. I came across your channel and it’s awesome. You’re my favorite content creator for chess. 🎉
Levy while instructions "I'll play it later against a strong player" 8:31 Levy during the game "I talked about this in the introduction" 13:22 What do you record first the games or the instructions?
This video is the BEST I have seen when it comes to the Sicilian Defense! Believe it or not, simply playing the video from "Black's" viewpoint is VERY important. Most other competing videos play from a White view of the board. I am learning at present by playing computer chess and of course the IA NEVER (or rarely) plays like a human. However, with your excellent description of the variables I am beginning to understand my options with this defense. GREAT JOB! Thank you
Watching it in 2023. Thank You for the all the clips and this one in particular. Keep doing what you doing. You got me interested in Chess. And I speak Russian too btw 😉. Pleasure watching your videos. Very detailed and very interesting. Aside all, it’s not boring to watch. Regards. Sadig from Brooklyn, NY. 🙏
