I like to keep a pencil around so that if one of my mistakes happens to sound good, I can make a note of it. After I've made several of them, I give myself an arranging credit. 👍

Greetings Jonny, it's a super aproach to jazz blues. Because E flat isn't easy to follow so quicly, if possible show us the chords progression written one by one Eb-G-Bb-D....Thanks a lot.

Personally I would have put it in a 6 time, and made more of a swinging feel, and yet still had a classic vibe to it. But not bad. I just think that swinging 1 - 2 - rest- 456 kind of feel, suits it better. But still beautiful.

Jonny. I continue to jump around from mastering something to play to practicing fundamental technique. I am working away on this, and slowed down the speed to see the chords and it dawned on me..why not just start by playing the scale of chords in E flat major a few times if the chords in the tune are mostly diatonic. Also I like the pneumonic of BEAD and beadgcf to see circle patterns that can then be seen as 3, 6, 2, 5, 1. Those two tips are helping me and might be useful to other students. Thanks for creating your wonderful site.
@bentlomena97

Salut jonny. Everything is OK ,but second part is more complicared with 6 alteratiions over the scale. Please teach us a modulation from E flat to a nearest tone like F or G. Still E flat is hard and boring because we ought to add 7th, 6th, 9th . All these sounds some bizarre to ears not familiar with advanced jazz.

Thanks for taking the time to reply but you miss the point. I know the tune well from my 18 + years as a professional guitarist, Hammond organist & vocalist in the 60's & 70's but having recently taken up the piano I'm very interested in the style being used here. I was being lazy & also trying to offer some support for all the effort that goes into these videos. In the end I simply transcribed the arrangement from the screen and learnt a lot from it. I only play the piano at home so I'm not breaching any copyright issues of the arrangement. In case anyone is puzzled; playing jazz & pop electronic organ is very different from piano. You can just play the same notes but believe me, it doesn't sound musical. Because you have two manuals you can set them up so that you are more or less playing both hands in the same octave: very difficult to do on piano. I learnt to play the organ from my guitar knowledge. (top Manual is lead, lower manual is rhythm, bass pedals, if no bassist, same as bass guitar). I had no knowledge of piano at all. The one thing I was able to bring to the piano is being able to read music (Still working on the bass clef), scale fingering and an extensive knowledge of chords and harmony but again the way you voice chords makes a huge difference on any keyboard or guitar and reading different arrangements by accomplished pianists is a good way to study different styles. Note to Johnny; please keep up the good work.

I like your style very much and learned to play piano more from your lessons. “The way you look tonight” is my favorite song, but I didn’t learn much because you showed this song in the key of E flat, a key I have limited familiarity. So, it’s hard to follow. I would learn more if the lesson is in key of C.

I like this quick tip on harmonizing the melody. It's the type of helpful hint I need for my music composition classes and pieces. The 7th chord is especially useful to me also for further study, mastery and compositional form. I'll review my lesson again. Keep emphasizing that tip. I'm catching on in my composition work and form.
