Thank you for your lessons, which I greatly appreciate. I usually get to 75% before it becomes too much for me to learn everything at once and then play it for a while. So I'm always left with incompletely learned things. Then I think I'll learn the rest tomorrow, but then the next lesson comes along and I'm overwhelmed by the sheer volume of ideas because I enjoy everything so much. I'm already old and don't learn so quickly. So for me, the lessons could be even smaller, then I would have even more of a sense of achievement. But I'm still learning a lot and I'm very grateful for your work, your way of playing and teaching. I love playing the guitar and listening to the sounds I can achieve with this wonderful instrument. Your inspiration accompanies me regularly on my journey into Guitar Wonderland.

Don't worry, you'll get there. I've been a student of music theory for years, so this was easy, but not simplistic in the least. If music were always easy everyone would play something. 🙂

Many years ago when I couldn't play very well I still can't play very well, I was in a guitar shop fooling around with a National Steel and there was a lady interested in the same guitar for her hubbie so I finished up and the shop keeper was about to demo the guitar for her. This bloke had real class because I noticed him waiting for me to get out of earshot before he ripped into some of really hot slide to impress her but he didn't want to embarrass me so he hesitated until I was gone.

I think that despite your brilliant insights, you would find quite a few biblical scholars who would disagree with a few points. Nevertheless, you really provided a great insight and i believe, solved the riddle of the chord/cord.

@GuitarME 2 месяца назад
It’s a weird one. It’s in the key of A but switch key for the bridge :)
@ambroseharper8316
@ambroseharper8316 17 дней назад
It's a progression in A. It's just derived from the A major scale and that E leads your ear back to A. The E chord is actually the V (5) chord in that progression. So that would be - A is the I (1) chord, Bm is the ii (2) chord the C#m is the iii (3) chord, the D the IV (4) chord, the V (5) is the E chord, the F#m is the vi (6) chord and the G# half diminished is the vii (7) chord. Then you are back to A again the I chord (1) 👍

Your lessons are greatly appreciated, but it would be helpful if you would play the entire end result first so we'll be thinking "I wonder how he did that" and then see how the subsequent pieces fit together. It's like trying to build a puzzle by examining the individual pieces first without seeing the completed picture on the box. Just my 2 cents.

Jesus Christ almighty, I have video of me almost playing this exact tune over six years ago when I came up with some chords to suit a friends video of him humming some wordless vocals, I never got to finish the end of it as I took ill and ended up with oedema that has prevented me from bending my fingers for the last five years, we were meant to record it together but he never got my finished track stems so he never got to record his song he wanted to make, him being a drummer he needed a guitarist friend to come up with some chords to accompany his vocals and then he would be able to lay some drum tracks down to it, I'm gutted we didn't finish it properly but at least I still have those old videoes, maybe one day when my swelling goes down for long enough for me to shake the rust off enough to record a full take of it, but I did get say 45's of it down and onlly needed to record an outro for it.

@@GuitarME Why thank you, most of what I have done is crap, but it's mostly about the journey and not the destination I think, my favourite track though has to be my Experiment No.8 I did on Soundcloud with Furry Akiko which is my friends username, I can't think of what it is exactly becauase there are too many good points about it for me, it's also the only track I did where my bass playing was on point too. The one I did ssimilar to this has slight variances up to the bridge and then the chorus takes it away in a completely different direction, I got the feeling of Supertramp in the verse and bridge sections whilst playing mine and Pink Floyd (slightly) from their Animals album on the chcorus parts.

Very nice lesson! On the first pass, if you take into account the open string notes, the full chord names are A, Amaj7, Bm11, E. On the second pass, they are A(add9), C#m7, Bm(add 11), E. So it a little bit different flavor there but mostly the same chords. If there was no bridge here's a suggestion, on the second pass don't go to the open E for the ending. Instead, play the E triad and include all open strings as 0,0,6,4,5,0. That gives you a nice E(add 11). Then, play one more A chord for final resolution either an open A or 0,0,7,6,5,0. Resolving finally on A makes sense since the chord progression of the verse is a 1,3,2,5, so going back to 1 makes it sound complete, which is exactly what you did after your very cool bridge. So extra points for you! 🙂
