Just a quick thing about what was said at 10:58 the T8 clubs and the 86 clubs (said spades but meant clubs).. Throwing in these hands would actually significantly raise Hero's equity. At the time I misspoke and was thinking Hero had 30% vs those hands. Of course Hero has 70% against those hands not 30 raising the equity to 35-36%.. Bart

Bart ffs when you going to listen to your god damn viewers. Don't post clips that don't show a villian reveal or at LEAST villian says what he had. this is bullshit. we as viewers dont need to be putting people on ranges and particular holdings then NOT find out if we're right at the end of the video. AK absolutely has to be in villains range here. at least some combos of it. there was an utg raise and a 3bet. there certainly will be people smooth calling pf here with AK and i would do it sometimes under the correct conditions. i would also check/jam this turn if i got here with AK too. not saying this is winning poker necessarily, and its certainly not standard, but its not unreasonable to end up in spots like this in awkard hand configurations.

You forgot to count kk, take into consideration what kind of player he is, among other things. If he is tight he never has anything but ak and sets. If he is wild and agressive he could have hands like 9/10s 8/10 etc. the problem w this kind of math is you’re making up numbers making up ranges based off little to nothing. Instead of doing bs math, this video should be about how to pot control and not bet the turn in losing spot. You 3 bet and get 2 callers on a relatively dry flop. What do you think they both have j/10 type hsnds?!?! Never. The one guy probably had a set and the other ditched ak feeling it was unlikely he beat you both. The most correct play here imo is check the turn and consider folding the river. But the most important thing is what kind of player are they? We didn’t really discuss that at all.
@lukixpogo2254
@lukixpogo2254 Год назад
Q/10 I doubt. But I have ppl folding AQ to my 3 bets all the time. So I guess it depends on your opponents. I think the villian has set 90% of the time. As played its an easy fold imo. But checking the turn seems like the best play for sure.

@@lukixpogo2254but you have to make up ranges to justify any action in poker at all? You’re making up ranges to justify checking back the turn. Although fwiw I agree that there should be more discussion on checking back turn.

This is such a helpful and informative video. Just packed with amazing expertise. (All are CLP videos are imho, and this one is even more so.) My only question is if the possibility of AK can be discounted more? As played, it looks like Hero could very likely have AK himself or AA. So would someone who flats a 3bet with AK from the SB, then jam with tptk when there's a decent chance the they are only chopping the pot?

This is one I'll review much. I'm not at the level of being able to estimate equity this way. I certainly see the value, but since I only play online I skew to the theory that unless I'm pretty confident I have the nuts I'll likely not call a jam. I won a big multiway jam yesterday; 8,8;K,K;A,A. 8,8, jammed, K.K was in CO and I was on Btn. I actually think its even worse than what is shown, we have to assume that the villain is even going to shove with hands like QJcc or QTcc, hell a lot of villains aren't even going to shove with JTcc. This is why knowing what kind of player you're playing against is important, and I honestly think as played I wouldn't be surprised if villain turned over a set or AK most of the time.

This is a very good point. Hero bets into two players on the flop, who both call and then makes a decent sized bet on the turn. That shows a lot of strength and looks exactly like he has a hand like AA, AK, KQ. Are people really bluffing into that range with a combo draw? Especially since by holding a combo draw it makes it very unlikely hero is barrelling with clubs themselves.

usually i don't comment but this video is contrary to winning poker. personally i don't feel comfortable critcizing bc i never really give you guys praise for your standard of excellent content. however i think this is an example of unnecessary and incorrect strategy. the math may say call but even if it's even money you don't need to take every edge that's offered to you, unless you have unlimited roll. The three reasons you give to gamble are superficial. we don't risk our stack to 'potentially' tilt someone. we don't risk our stack just to have more chips on the table. for me this spot is clear to pass on and wait for a better one. we may have some increased equity bc of the vulnerable turn sizing, villain may be pouncing, but still not enough to call. you are beat here more often than not. honestly it's not even a close decision despite the math. good fold. bart simplified the thought process numerous times throughout (asking what we beat etc.) and that's what really should have been the focus of this hand instead of misguided equity calculations at the river. simplifying the decisions and going for the low hanging fruit, that's crushing live poker. -personally i size up turn here. def charging with what seems like the best hand

“Multi-way 3 bet cold call pots” rare scenario but makes sense based on the stronger ranges they should have cold calling from oop preflop. I initially thought of a bigger bet size on the turn but with the SB flatting the flop he should be even stronger i.e. 99s, all combos of AK, and even sometimes 77s. @@e30fanatic0if you think SB’s range is mostly 99/77 and AK you shouldn’t be betting the turn at all. The reason for betting small on flop and turn is because you’re hoping to get marginal calls from hands like JJ/TT which will fold to a large bet.
@qazzaqstan
@qazzaqstan Год назад
The simple answer is because since each person has a smaller "obligation" to defend to pot you can bet smaller. Additionally yeah it is hard to have the nut advantage against more than 1 opponent, and when you lack the nut advantage you tend to bet small even if you have a strong range advantage making betting profitable. Also @John Smith I'm not convinced you are particularly ahead of SB's calling range at all (beyond the draws) as even something like KThh is probably a fold by turn once someone already called behind them. Of course that isn't to say you might not get marginal calls from them anyway even if you shouldn't, or that you necessarily have to be ahead of 50% of their calling range because as long as it is close you are definitely allowed to be mainly targeting the straddle (you definitely need to be ahead of 50% of the straddles calling range given the SB folds though).

My thought process has always been in multi way pots was if I thought I had the best hand, I will make larger bet sizing as to put pressure on weaker hands to call. Or make it costly for draws to get there. I can see where this may not be correct. I’ve been playing 1/3, 2/5, 5/10 for 20+ years and I can say unequivocally that virtually nobody at these levels is playing any form of GTO. So I find a lot of the GTO strategies not applicable. It depends on the player/personality type. In regards to "Position" , I would argue that most live low stakes players have very limited positional awareness and therefore do not make their decisions based on their position. @@charlesnewborn3760 it’s not shit content if you’re interested in poker strategy… a poker TV show where the viewer can’t see the hands might suck, yeah, but that’s not what this is reveals are satisfying but not essential

You said 68 and 810 would not change much because they are also close to 30%, but were you confused that 30% for is for H but those combos in V hand that H has 70%? Discounting K9s, K7s, and 77 to zero is unrealistic in many rooms today, HCL streams are pushing all kinds of crazy play that is carrying over to casinos everywhere. Discounting AK to 2 combos is also unrealistic.

My only suggestion is get to calculating equity faster, we can skip all the talk in the beginning just show us the cards and then the formula. Appreciate the effort, I really do, but I was searching for how to calculate equity, and I am already several minutes in and no equity calculation.. yes I am impatient.. LOL

@@markomirkovic159check jamming KJ is just a disaster on this board in a 3 bet pot. Nothing worse will call you. And very few better hands (basically the two combos of KQs only) will fold.

You might see KJ being played this way at the nightly 50 dollar buy in tournament at your local poker club or casino, not usually in 5-5-10 cash game

Anything is possible, maybe he didnt know what to do and just jammed a worse king. Its just so extremely unlikely that it doesnt factor into the analysis. Just like its technically possible that he decided to call with 72 and check jam bluff all in. Yes its possible just not worth considering in this situation

Definitely could have Ac9c. Now the question is this; how often is he calling with A9cc and how often is he jamming it. I think most people just call and ty to realize their equity. Also a pair of nines technically has showdown value where the other combo draw hands do not
