I promise this is the only time I’ll upload high school football, but wow, this was too crazy not to upload 😳. What do you guys think about this?? Update: Edinburg High has been disqualified from the playoffs because of this. And they won this game btw, so they would’ve continued their season and had a chance to win the championship had this not happened. Update #2: The player has been charged with “assault causing bodily harm” and his bail has been set at $10,000.

Ouch... that's right. Laws still apply in the universe of football. You can't tackle or take down just anybody you want. It has to at least be a player, and even then, only during gameplay and properly.

AK Alksander absolutely. I believe KTO covered one particular college football game (2006 FIU @ Miami) where the events were far more serious, but essentially had the same result as far as punishments and suspensions are concerned. But yes, baseball, football, basketball, soccer, hockey, lacrosse, etc... in my eyes, they really need to do that with all sports

I live in the place where some of this high school league takes place. It’s near Mexico. I go for the Eagles since it’s my home team and the school I am going to go to next year. It’s cool having the city I live next to and my area get praise, but not for bad reasons. I live in the same county as the school (Rio Grande Valley) and they just cancelled Middle School Sports so rip. I think this is a deciding factor in that decision. Joe Blow Don’t worry their season would’ve been over anyways. It always ends once they start playing teams outside of the 956. Would you think any different about the whole team being disqualified if the referee would’ve fallen just a bit differently... causing him to break his neck or Have internal bleeding of the brain, dying In front of everybody on the field? I mean, I really don't care, it just seems a little fucked up to punish other kids for someone else's actions. The sad thing is, he may not even have been the ref who made the call, initially. He is just the head ref who has to state what call was made. So sad this young boy thinks he has a right to attack a ref, very much older than him, who has no protective gear. This is not right in any situation. Yeah, sometimes you get that ref that you feel deserves it, but you do not act on it. This is not a kid. This is a young man, who obviously has been playing football for many years. He must be very immature, because he should have developed more self control by this point in his life. This is no more than a violent temper tantrum. Very sad situation.

Update 1: His high school team was either disqualified or they forfeited the playoffs Update 2: He was suspended from all high school sports in TX Update 3: He was charged with assault Update4: March 2022 after the incident, he was found asleep inside a car with six grams of cocaine and marijauana . Was booked in Hidalgo County on a $50k bond.

Update: the UIL, the governing body of Texas HS athletics, has put in place a 2 year ban on the Edinburgh Athletic program. Not sure if this is completely true, but if it is, there's either goning to be an appeal, or a complete review of the situation.

I applaud this young man. For far too long refs and umps have been getting away with blatantly bad calls and fixing games. Its about time soneone took a stand and defended themselves, this needs to happen more often and maybe they might think about calling the game fair and without bias.
