Playing as The Grox in Cell Stage (Spore) 

First thing to come to mind with this is making a Blastoise like creature with cannons on its back for creature stage. Super cool discovery, this cheat engine stuff is awesome.

The spaceship and building editor combination is really cool, it gives the possibility to make airports.

I think that we can't play with non-living things as living things for the same reason that the Grox loses its body when it becomes a tank. It looks like editables are either saved as a collection of parts (our non-living things), or a collection of parts and a spine (our living things). When a living thing is put in a non-living editor, the editor just reads the collection of parts and ignores the rest, leading to creatures without bodies that still function as vehicles, buildings, or spaceships. When the opposite happens, however, the editor crashes when we try to progress outside of it because it tries to animate a spine that doesn't exist.

The base address for Editor Type and Save Creation are the same probably because their memory was allocated at the same time. They may be part of the same struct or object or array in whatever language spore was written in. The base address is probably different between versions because the code was recompiled and the compiler decided on a different address for those values. Probably the same story, with Stage Load 1 and Stage load 2, same C++ struct or object.

Would making a small 'living' creature and building a tank on top allow interacting with it? I think the reason for crashing may be the lack of skeleton

Gosh, haven't played SPORE (2008) in forever. I remember using Cheat Engine to scale gates (disguised as a creature that's a planet) to enormous sizes to generate a planet prop (a technique I picked up from a cool adventure I forgot the name of)

Man, I love how Spore has a lot of intricacies that are STILL being discovered. I absolutely love glitches and work arounds like this. Question: Do you know about the hidden building editors and vehicle editors? I did a writeup of it on /r/spore, but you can actually save creations as harvesters and farm buildings. But you can't load them back into the game. But maybe this trick will help it work? I dunno. I love crap like this.

oh my god i remember all the cheat engine tutorials in my childhood but never understood them i think davoonline used to have an archive/sporepedia of hacked creatures which had a lot interesting vehicle part shenanigans going on, but i'm not sure if it's still around anymore :(

this is super interesting i didnt know you could load creations in wrong editors the grox cell sporepedia icon is SO funny interesting how the grox cell just uses regular creature animations instead of cell animations like youd expect. well it does so in the editor anyways. whats up with that? i didnt know there was a cell editor with limited parts just for startning up a new cell game??? wait how do you get that though. considering ive only had access to maxis cells im assuming you could theoretically get a creature with parts from all vehicle AND building editors do the vehicle/building creatures crash upon any attempt by the game to load it because theres technically no body itself to be found?

I wonder with all these cheats if there is a way you can start as the grox empire with all their planets included.

Well, something I'd find impressive is if you manage to make the unused editors actually playable (without crashing). I tried the plant editor once and it was like a fever dream (and couldn't even save the creation)

gonna give so many creatures cool parts with this. big question though: say you made a creature with ship parts. when picking creatures to spawn in at the beginning of creature stage in the nests and all that, would the game load it fine like any other creature or just flat out refuse? wanna know if an eco-flag-bearing creature with a gun on its back would be player-only.

I would love to have a creature with unused cell parts. You know that all cell parts have 4 "upgrades". I really like herbavore mouths. They look cool and they have tentacles. I really wish I could save my creatures with these parts.
