Playing banjo for a wild fox! He came back for an encore! Titled "Aesop Mountain" and streaming now! 

You know it’s a great musical performance when the crowd is going wild.

Its so cute how he's trying to enjoy it but is super cautious at the same time. The fact that he just sat in front is crazy

Some folks might think playing banjo for a fox is weird, but to me it makes more sense than 95% of what I see people doing

The urge to uproot my life in the city to live in the mountains of Kentucky and teach myself the banjo.

I went camping in the woods for a few months. I started singing and a Raven swooped into my camp and just sat listening to me sing. That Raven imprinted onto me and became part of my camp. It even followed me from campsite to campsite for two months! At night it slept on the roof of my camper. Every morning when I came outside it would caw at me a cheerful "good morning," and I would start singing to it. It was amazing. The universe is beautiful!

I think when your musical audience is a wild fox you must be living right.

Mathematics is a universal language amongst men. But music is the one true universal language for all creation.

Organized sound and recognizable timbres are things animals can appreciate. Always magical to communicate with our planetary family of wild creatures.

The part you didn't see: The Fox jumped up on a hickory stump nearby and said "I guess you didn't know it, but I'm a fiddle player too."

Moments like this make this world less hellish.

That fox has the life. Living free in the mountains, away from busy roads and the best view you could ever ask for. Even comes with a dude that plays banjo for you.

We had a wild fox once. They love to snuggle. People think they would bite you but just gain their trust & you can pet them. Remind me a lot of cats. Very intelligent, & sweet... If they are acting like they are crazy & chasing after you to bite you it is probably rabid, because they normally never do this. Very curious, gentle, sweet animals. We let him go back into the wild & live free on our land. What a wonderful animal.

Do you think the fox was more like "This music fits me and this place perfectly?" or "wow, these rare human sounds!"

Imagine this fox, having never heard music, as he walks around as though he isn’t sure what to do but can’t sit still. Like instinctual movement/dance. And then he looks around at the scenery as if he feels the need to experience that while hearing this. And then must come back round to watch this strange sound this man is making. It is pure innocence and shared experience and is beautiful.

I love how even animals know what good music is.

There is just nothing better than truly communing with a creature of another species, particularly if they are ‘wild’.

I'm not surprised the fox came back for an encore. The music was being played so beautifully.

Imagine the story that fox has to tell to all his friends. "One of those scary 2 legged hairless things had a weird sounding stick... And he didn't try to kill me with it. It was nice." -🦊

My neighbours have just gone to the Canary Islands for ten days of laying on a sun lounger and drinking booze. I would rather have one experience like this in this lovely video than any amount of soulless time spent boozing by a pool. .

Had the same experiences with playing guitar for squirrels. They got up close and personal, laid down and listened for a good 15mins tranced. ✌🇨🇦👍

One day in the nineties I was playing my Banjo in the forest in Northern Germany and I had the same experience: A fox came out of the bushes. He stood and listened and then sat down. I played non-stop 40!! Minutes. Then I started to sing- that was a mistake - the Fox got up, turned and went away. He Never came back!

What a magical moment. The land has come alive and the spirits send an envoy to listen.

My cat used to listen when i play my accoustic guitar, she certainly perceived the vibrations.

When you get a wild fox to sit and listen to your banjo skills, you know you have reached MASTER CLASS level.

This is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. I really wish we knew more that this is what the vast majority of humanity was like. Music,motion,silence,animals. That’s all there really is.

I’m not American. But I’m trying hard to get over there legally. Been to West Virginia when I was young and it left such an imprint on my soul. The landscape brings tears to my eyes. It’s a wild, untouched wilderness of unmatched beauty. Some day.

I have had the same experience playing my harp. I had a hummingbird who would perch right in front of me and would Bob her head back and forth to the music. She did this everyday I was outside. I also experienced it with robins. They were searching for worms but when I began to play they would literally freeze on the spot, and when I stopped they’d hop across the yard again.

I love how one way to universally get an animals love is through music. Shows that even tho we are 2 completely different beings, we still share a love.

I used to go in the woods behind my house, sit on a big rock, and sing songs. Every time birds would come down and listen. Once I saw a deer milling around too. It was a magical time. Animals love music!

That is so cool. My Dad played guitar and when playing outside near the cow pasture, all the cows gathered to the edge of the fence to listen. ❤️

It was this song, paired with the right atmosphere of walking home at night that it somehow brought back emotions and memories I never knew I had. I almost cried on the way home just thinking about the good old days

It’s so cute when he tries to do his own thing within earshot but when you stop he knows coming back will make the music start again so he can make the music play then go back to his thing 😂

You're a fox. You've been traveling days, barely scraping by for food. You come across a good haul and continue your wayward journey before hearing a strange noise. It's coming from one of those human creatures. It appears to be a stick of some kind. Weirdly enough, the noise is rather soothing, almost comforting. You step closer until you lock eyes with the strange giant. His lips curl and bear teeth, but the noise from his stick doesn't stop. You unconsciously inch closer. Surely, if this creature meant you harm, it would've done so by now. You now hear the noise in all its little intricacies. Like a swirl of different emotions gathering into a strange elixir inside your little heart. The noise continues from the strange giant. You feel a vague sense of comfort, perhaps more so than you should. Your vision guides your paw to look over to the cliffside, and you see yet another source of possible food and water. You look back towards the human still with his teeth bared, but no hostile action. You gather your nerves to wander into the woods, but for some reason, you find yourself reluctant to forgo this feeling, given by the human's instrument. You stay but a moment longer. You doubt you will hear anything like this noise again, and you listen one final time before letting the music fade behind you onto your journey...

A truly beautiful simple moment.... moments like this give me hope

As a teenager, I started singing in the woods while hiking by myself. A baby fox went up to me & curled up beside me. He sat there until I quit singing. I really wanted to pet him but didn’t. Felt like having a pet dog along for my hike!

It's nice when someone appreciates your music, no matter what species they are. I used to have a cat that liked listening to me play guitar

Cows and horses would rush to a fence in groups and listen intently. Quite a thing to behold.

This proves that the beauty in music can transcend through different species. Ive noticed this with my dog as well. When I play guitar he comes and sits real close and looks up at me with happy eyes. Sometimes he even falls asleep to my playing.

That’s about as pure as it gets, man. And your playing was fantastic!

That fox knew there could be no threat from a man creating such sweet sounds, so he came to hear, free from fear. Music soothes the savage beast.

I played harmonica for a hippopotamus at the national zoo in Washington DC. She was in an indoor pool with her calf. She started trumpeting along with me (blowing through her nostrils) IN KEY!! She had perfect pitch. It was amazing 🤩

This song sounds like it would play over a montage of someone packing up all of their things into a car as they get ready for a journey that'll take them far away. They have emotional farewells with friends/family, and as they are driving away, they see something in the passenger seat wrapped in a blanket. Opening the blanket, they see a momento of all the adventures they had, and there's a note signed by everyone promising to see them soon. The protag chuckles, and a wry, bittersweet smile spreads across their face as they indulge in those memories one last time before they drive off into the sunset.

As a lifelong hiker, foxes like humans and are very curious about us (the cat-side of their nature) yet quite wary. Sometimes you'll come across an less-wary one like this. Several times while hiking I've come across a fox that wants to entertain *me* by running around in circles, stopping to look for approval with big smile and panting tongue, then back to running in circles. Always toss them a bit of jerky as a tip!
