After playing Baldurs Gate 3, it’s hard to find a RPG that surpasses it or be on the same quality, they have set the new standard for fantasy RPGs in the industry that I just don’t think many future games can truly live up the same caliber exception for a few studios. I’m not saying it’s not possible, I would love to see that happen but itll be harder if people keep eating up this carbon copy slop, then devs would expect for you just to eat whatever they shit out *cough* EA, Bioware, Bethesda, Ubisoft *cough*
How does one exceptional game "set the standard"? If someone gets a 10/10 grade, does that mean every other student is supposed to as well because they "set the standard"? Baldurs Gate 3 is a brilliant game no doubt, but if you now come to expect that level of quality from other studios than Larian you are just ruining it for yourself.
I hear this but then see the gameplay & know it’s not for me. It got, game of the year, cause it was a dedicated sequel that the fans of the franchise had been asking for. They listened to their fanbase & were rewarded for it. Meanwhile, dragon age has been ignoring the same fans that elevated them to fame for literally decades now. The ONE THING any dragon age fan wanted was a return to form with the dark gritty nature that was present in the first two games. You could kill your entire family in dragon age 2. You could choose to be racist against elves just cause “why not?” In failguard you do 10 push ups over some pronouns. This is an insult to the fanbase & they don’t deserve to hold the IP for either Mass Effect or Dragon age.

The only reason this games doing well is because they're reusing the Dragon Age IP. I've never played much dragon age but even I can tell this has nothing to do with Origins. If it was a new IP this game would be dead in the water.

I dislike the woke/anti-woke comments. I dislike corporate shilling and review curation. If a game is mid, but people expected it to be good, then why is that a problem? Why are the consumer's expectations of the product a problem? Since when did we start defending corporations instead of consumers?
DEI kills creativity by pushing agenda over good story, good gameplay, good artwork, and good hiring. Shouldn't the best ideas, artwork and employees be picked? Everyone should be able to agree with this. It's common sense. It's why we're closing our wallets to ANYTHING DEI.

Which is a shame because Dragon Age used to be anything but that. I used to absolutely love this world, lore and characters but this just doesn’t feel the same to me.
Gameplay looks mid and narrative/story/dialogue all seems outright bad. Shame. Older Dragon Age games were great. 2 and Origins were peak of the series. Always sad to see a franchise fall off but that already happened with Inquisition so this is no surprise. 😕
@@ironChevalDA 2 was okay not completely bad but it did felt rushed and areas to explore were just too small and barely had much and reused areas and felt like there wasn’t much to do in the game…and restrictive with customization especially with the companion on not really having good gear to keep them alive in the fight
As a huge fan of Origins, i cant wait for this game to be around 20 bucks where i can enjoy it. It seems the odd numbered dragon age games are the hardcore-oriented ones and the even games are more casual friendly. None of this looks 'bad' but fudge dude this is NOT what i wanted, especially after 9 YEARS.
It is somehow worse than the leaks showed. Im honestly surprised. Concord 2 Electric boogaloo seems to be going off as expected. Meanwhile the games rating slides further down.
Lets be real, this game is 100% doing better than concord. It still isnt doing great, a possibly 200M$+ game having 70k on launch (with whatever consoles at, we dont know. Any one to say definite console sales are probably pulling it out of their ass.) Concord costed 400M and refunded every copy, nothing will top that in a long time.

I don’t think most people are hating on being inclusive, ever. But the activism, the bad writing, the bashing over the head with “the message” and the constant blame when gamers and viewers are criticizing said writings and activism is making this more horrible than it might have been. I haven’t played Dragon Age, my husband who has said the first two were awesome but the Mass Effect trilogy is my favorite alongside the Witcher and I still play them every Christmas season. This game looked horrible and fake, a bit like uncanny valley. Plus it didn’t look like an adult fantasy but like a Clash of Clans mobile game. Put this along with this horrible scene where they bash you over the head about pronouns and they can shove the game where the sun don’t shine. Refund, Charlie. Let’s hurt them with our wallets.

I love Dragon Age, I’ve played all the other games and actually didn’t mind Inquisition when it came out. But this is…well it isn’t Dragon Age. The dialogue, the pacing, the plot, the characters all half assed, frankly. Combat means nothing to me, I’m here for an RPG, this isn’t an RPG. It’s a “pick the same dialogue but in different tones”. I heard the ending is amazing but that is not enough for me to buy this.
The envirnments look great, the abilities and animations look great, the combat is okay, but the dialgue is kinda bad. All in all its not nearly that bad. Edit spelling.
The only thing i find obnoxious about the game is like all chracters have HUGE HEADS like its almost comical. Oh your a chracter with a speaking part huge noggin, if your an npv with no speaking part regular sized head i can not state how annoying it is inquisition everything was almost perfect in body proportions but veilguard it feels like the cheat for big heads was turned on and not turned off.

We have good points on not liking the games on how the dialogue is just poorly written, how they made the combat feel slow and awkward, how they made characters feel bland and not how they should be like the previous games like Solas who at the end of Trespasser who wanted to restore everything back to the elves by tearing down the veil since the elven gods are trapped in there and can’t get out unless it’s destroyed and yet…SOMEHOW Solas is trapped there while the gods are now out…? Also they made edgy by making him have that weird dialogue of “People are always dying. It’s what they do.” like…really?
I've seen better game play and fighting on hello kitty island adventure. Better writing for me was a book in brail, BTW I can't read brail. [EDIT] I forgot the voice acting, a mute person could not try and sound 1K times better in the action scene alone.

The dialogue is so repetitive and boring... and full of exposition...nowhere near the quality it should have been after 10 years of development. Guess its time to go play Origins again.
I'd say it'd be better if they would break up the HOURS of frontloaded exposition dialogue a little more with combat, but the combat is boring af so no salvaging this nonsense

But I know how Bioware games work, and seeing a lack of variety and complexity in choices and dialogue options is super weird. Their games always presented you with roleplaying options but in Veilguard you're going to be "the good guy" no matter what, and it kinda sucks.
With reviews being mixed I wanted to see some uncut gameplay so the examples wouldn’t be cherry picked. After seeing this tho I wouldn’t even play this game for free. The visuals are uncanny at least for the characters, the combat looks really boring, and that dialog is horrid. I honestly wanted this game to be good bc some of the previews looked promising and I love a good rpg. This sadly just isn’t one of them and I’ll probably just wait till another game.

Nothing bad with the lgbt stuff in general, the only bad thing is that devs are chasing some sort of number to reach satisfaction form the higher ups in hopes that they'll be seen in a better light, basically making it so that instead of hiring people based on merit, they're hiring people based on how diverse the people in the work place should be, choosing unqualified different ethnicity and otherwise trans people instead of the capable ones. Nobody is actually so hell bent on making the gays or representing ethnicity go away, the only thing we want gone is how dei works, or the concept of dei in modern gaming gone. People are still free to create inclusive stories even without the rules of dei being present in the work place, so many games have done plenty inclusive stories and games without the need to have dei be a thing for them, hell, cyberpunk 2077 didn't have dei integrated in the workplace when it was made, and it still had plenty of that going for it, same for baldur's gate 3, these games weren't forced to be inclusive, they added inclusivity in the way that they thought wouldn't pander in general and in a way that'd be cool. This game, as skill up and a lot of other people have said, feels like having said higher ups in the room, telling you what you should think and constantly remind you of odd messages, instead of telling the message through a story, not a non contextual dialogue. Tl;dr: Problem isn't inclusivity, the problem is that things like dei exist in modern gaming that basically FORCES developers to include this stuff distracting them from creating something that is entierly up to them and not to the sbi, dei, or hr team.

It’s the writing. There has always been an inclusivity element to dragon age games but this game has the laziest script (which is like 9/10 of the point of playing BioWare games). Almost every line out of Neve’s mouth sounds like the developer telling rook what to think instead of articulating why he should reach those conclusions. It’s way more jarring than the art style or the combat system.

People who enjoyed Dragon Age 10 and 15 years ago have the same values they do today, but they're not buying into the extremist view points pushed out by people on the edge.
