Amazing video Bennim! I am a euphonium player in the 8th grade and I have a passion for the euphonium and music. I dont know where I will go with it after high school, but I hope I'll go far. Keep up with the great work and I cant wait for the next upload!

The John Packer 274 euphonium (JP274) can be found new for under $1400 and is a solid horn. Also, you can get a new Jinbao euphonium for under $700. Both viable options for one on a limited budget.

Brilliant video! I've been keeping practicing and branching out in repertoire, playing jazz standards one day, orchestral parts other days, also found myself in position to be teaching some beginner brass which has really been refreshing and helping my refine my approach and fundamentals on the instrument as I'm having to explain and describe it to people who have never played before!

This is a great video. Im terrified and scared of what my future hold right now because i dont even know what to do after highschool. This video has helped me as its my senior year and I just picked up the euphonium and as of now i want to conintue playing it after school. I didnt know what options i had to keep this passion up, so thank you for making this.

I am actually someone in her senior year of high school who previously played flute, oboe and trombone. I switched to euphonium this year and I know for certain that I love this instrument. I want to go past highschool with it but I dont know how to get to higher places in my music career with the euph because of how little music it has. Thank you for making this video, it'll certainly give me some steps to where I want to go. Also, does anyone know where I can get a euphonium for a good price? Preferably a 3+1 horn. I have been eying Wessex's gold Dolce, but I want to know if I can find other horns of similar quality at a little less.

You are motivated to let us know about all things euphonium. We did not have computers in my generation to let people know how great this is. My mother played baritone and my sister and I did too. I see a community of like minded enjoying this instrument, and thank you for being the spokesman.

I learned Euphonium post college (studied Computer Science). I am thankful to be a part of the local community band and church orchestra! I always enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing and encouraging us amateur musicians!

What a coincidence! I’m in my fourth year in college also studying computer science and math and recently decided to pick up the euphonium. I’m yet to start though. Hopefully I’ll be able to buy one this week. I’m a bit scared to be honest since I haven’t studied music or taken music classes at school so not only can I not play any instrument I can’t read music but I love the sound of the euphonium it’s majestic and beautiful. Plus the instrument looks so freaking cool lol

However, since I’m in Russia we don’t really have church orchestra or local brass bands. Or maybe I just couldn’t find anything but they do exist somewhere. The euphonium isn’t even a well instrument in the US and in Russia almost no knows about. I’ve been to a few music shops and only one of them have heard of a euphonium before. I guess I’ll be playing on my own for a while.

@@mukhammedabusuveilim3468 The reading music part to get started isn’t that bad. Focus on learning bass clef notes. I would also see if you could take private lessons. Since you are at a university, you might could take lessons with a student majoring in music education or music performance. I took private lessons from a friend that was a music education major. You’ll never regret the time to learn to play euphonium (or any instrument). Wish you all the best as you start this journey!

I have yet to go to one but i had heard a music store in my area was hosting what they called "jam sessions" where anyone with any instrument could just show up and improvise music with others, its similair to joining a local group but something worth chechlking in to.
@sol6700
@sol6700 Год назад
Jam sessions come in a lot of flavors but typically, jam sessions are for jazz musicians playing standard tunes. It sounds like the jam session at your store might be a little more inclusive to people of different levels. I only mention this so someone doesn't accidentally go to a more typical jam session and get overwhelmed with jazz tunes theyve never heard and improvisation.

I played in an online international solo contest during the Covid lockdowns. It was organised by the Birmingham Conservotoire. I came seventh playing the cornet, but the people above me were mostly euph players from China. It is massively popular instrument there, and in Japan.

I don't like most people anyway, so I play solo. The euphonium is perfect for that, since it's basically a brass cello that fits a smaller case. Pick up Bach's solos for unaccompanied cello. I also try out different instruments. A year to learn one, then try the next. I'm building a permanent collection. I have a basic knowledge of trombone, clarinet (soprano and alto), concert mellophone (the circular one, not the oversize trumpet they use in marching bands), oboe and trumpet, not to mention guitar and banjo and an attempt at harp playing that didn't work well for me. This year is the euphonum. And of course the usual folk instruments that everyone has, like a shuangchin and a banduria in C. Instruments are easy. EBay is your friend. You might have to repad a clarinet and brasswinds will normally have at least one stuck slide, but I picked up a Yamaha eupho cheap, found a couple of Buescher Aristocrats (Selmer era, an oboe and a trombone), and an Olds Ambassador concert mellophone. The cornet is a Conn Director and the trumpet is a Royal Artist from Bruno, New York, of a pattern apparently not made since 1934. You don't need a plastic instrument unless you really want one.

Hey, just want to say I love your videos! I played euphonium from 6th to 9th grade but quit band in 10th grade, and I wanted to buy a used euphonium, but the quality and price were not it, so I decided to buy a used trombone, and I am having a fun time learning a new instrument.

I second the advice to join a community band. Playing with a group is very motivating. The price of a quality euphonium is the only downside.

my favorite way to stay motivated is to open musescore or some shit and make a little chorale. Very simple cadences, very nice sounding. I try to do 1 per day, and if I can play them I probably will. Super fun method
