I am playing every golf course in Melbourne, and today I played at one of Future Golfs newest partner courses Bacchus Marsh. It’s 40 minutes from the CBD, and in my opinion, it is one of the most under rated courses I’ve played to date. It’s got well-kept tree lined fairways; excellent greens, and a signature 13th hole, a 500-meter par 5 dog leg right. As you’ll see, if you play here you will need to do all your scoring on the front nine, because the back nine is very tricky.
Hole 1 is a Par 4 360m. I hit a decent drive a had a 56 degree to the green. It stuck 5 meters from the hole and I landed a birdie to start.
Hole 2 is a short Par 4 270m. My drive just rolled off the fairway, and I hit the pitch of my life right beside the flag for a second birdie.
Hole 3 is a Par 3 170m and I started thinking about going for three birdies in a row, I barley ever get one never mind three. I overthought it and missed the putt and ended up with a par.
Hole 4 is a Par 4 349m. My drive went down the middle, but I pulled my pitching wedge to the left because of the trees. I chipped at the hole, and tried to slot home a par but took a bogey here instead.
Hole 5 on Bacchus Marsh in Melbourne Australia is a Par 3 158m I hit a 6-iron and had a decent chance at birdie. But it came up short and I took a par.
Hole 6 is a Par 4 390m. I hit my drive down the middle of the fairway and had a pitching wedge at the green. I hit the green and my birdie putt went agonisingly close. But thankfully I save a par.
Hole 7 is a Par 5 480m. I hit a good drive and follow it up with a 5-wood at the green. It’s short and I have a 30ish meter chip onto a raised green. It just catches the edge and I have a long putt for birdie. It goes close enough and I tap in a par.
I’m 1 under at this point and Hole 8 is a 395m Par 4. I hit a decent drive but trees block my view of the green. I try to draw a 5-wood around the them but mostly hook it. My chip make the green and I have a long putt for par but take my bogey for granted and end up with a double.
Now I’m 1 over on Hole 9 a 490m Par 5. I took my drive onto the fairway for the 1st hole. And try and go through a gap in the tree. It bounces back onto the fairway again and this time I manage to slice it back into play. My chip hit the green and I just barley miss the par putt to take a bogey.
