This game was incredible. Truly truly fun to play. I highly recommend it!. Also, please notice, I didn't say I was gonna play every boxing game made by EA. I'll be playing every Fight Night game. We might go back and play Knockout kings... maybe, but for now we'll be focusing on the Fight Night series!.
I think ESBC needs to take notes from this game because the way punches are thrown, the sound they make and the reaction the opponent has to it is amazing, and that's the ONE thing their game needs rn!
Quick story about fight night - as I was growing up I had a friend who used to own all the fight night games because of his father. We used to trade wins, being pretty bad/young for the game. His dad used to WRECK both of us, and we thought he had superpowers. Fast Forward to 2020 and FNC has been out for like 9 years. I go back and visit this friend and we start talking about fight night and how his dad used to wreck us. Me, having been playing ufc and boxing games pretty regularly over the past 5 years, decided to challenge him. He absolutely wrecked me, just like old times. This man hadn’t played for years, and he humiliated me. It didn’t make any sense. The only thing I could think of (besides the possibility that I am actually trash) is that the game is so damn good he never even forgot how to play it. One of the most memorable franchises for me. EA seriously needs to put some time and effort into Fight Night and bring it back from the dead.
Ragdoll knockouts in this game were so funny, lol the ability to drop someone in the corner and then keep hitting them with shots after shots was amazing, my 2nd favorite fight night game after round 2. The combos felt so fluid and I loved knocking out my opponent and watching his lifeless body limp, it was almost as if you've killed them 😂
EA are straight up lazy. All of their sports games in 04-08 were better than the equivalents they have now. If you play Madden 08 and then play Madden 20 there's way more content in 08.
Yeah but Fight Night 2004 had so much depth. Knockout kings was good for its time but there wasn’t any comparison to this. FN 2004 is the best boxing game ever made
Champion is great for cinematic fights and really satisfying presentation -- but I've been filling my time with 2004 till ESBC Also for those looking to pick the game up, the movement felt weird because control scheme 3 has "Boxer Relative Navagation" rather than control scheme 4 which is "Camera Relative"
Series like this show how much attention to detail and how much of a simulation route companies take from the start. Then once they get a massive audience they cater more to the casual fan and make it all about the dollar.
The best part about this fight night specifically is once you land one punch… it boosts your fighters punch speed and allows you to follow up with a combo that could be like 5 punches which looks much quicker where as if you get your punch blocked it completely kills your fighters movement momentarily
One of the greatest joys of these earlier boxing games, was the ragdoll knockdowns. If you got them in the corner or the ropes and knocked them down, you could keep pounding like it was Roy Mercer vs. Tommy Morrison... SO satisfying... I wish they had never taken that out of these games
I wouldnt mind it, if you NEVER ever play UFC 4 again on Your channel. Latest content is dope. Really happy, that its working out for you, without playing that trash game. Keep it up.
@@c200065524 but really very misleading how much they advertised it only for it to be like the least popular venues in the game and nothing about it be different, thought they mentioned before release that in career you could like come up through back yard fights or you'd get offers for the underground koumites in career
Fight night 04 was one of my favorite games ever. I put so many hours into it. And guess what. It actually has a career mode that's worth playing, unlike new games which couldn't care less. Also they give you full replays and stats.
Genuinely so fucking happy to see you play this game man. I picked it up about 6 months ago and couldn’t believe it either. When I was watching your ESBC gameplay review and was talking about “I’m probably gonna use semi automatic because manual sounds too complicated” all i could think was this game. I think most of us are gonna enjoy this series more than your UFC game series. The fight night games are amazing.
Henry I have to say, followed this channel for a very long time and I’m LOVING the variation of content lately as well as your upload rate! Man, you made the right choice when you left your job at the airport!
If you like this blocking system I think you’ll like Fight Night Round 3s system. I feel the counter window might if been to big but besides that it was great. Had middle, left and right side you had to block.
The best series EA has ever done. Cannot believe they stopped working on it. Cant play it too much now as i keep wanting to kick or takedown. Keep up the good work bro
Ayyeeeee, I hope martial gets more spotlight with this, these series are so addictive and I’m always waiting for the next notification for the next video😅
I’m looking forward to this series especially since I never played a fight night. However I have heard every single person I’ve encountered (for context I work in GameStop) mention that fight night 3 is one of there favorites. So martial I’m with you for the ride brother
Your contents been getting so much better lately. A lot more of your personality on display rather than a voice to gameplay. Really loving the diversity instead of just showcases. You should play more fighting games, like Tekken and Street Fighter or maybe even something like Smash Bros
I started with Round 3 and thought that was the best because of the face punch buttons and right stick block, but hated the slow mo parry. Tried the newer ones but hate using the right stick to throw punches. I've since gone back and played the others, this one is for sure the best. You can emulate it on PC at 4K and set it at wide screen, it actually looks pretty damn good.
I think its great how you can analyse an older game objectively, picking out parts that were maybe ahead of their time, as you did with the UFC games. Makes a really enjoyable watch.
And just to touch on the "feel" of a game vs the "look" of a game. This was a debate on the EA forum at the time when Fight Night Champion came out. The game clearly looked more sim and realistic than the older games, but didn't feel as realistic to play. Placing your shots as the aggressor and blocking/parrying as the defensive fighter, wasn't nearly as relevant in fight night champion, as it is in real life or as it was implemented in some of the older games. The debate was, what was more preferable. The look of a game, or the feel.
OMG This looks awesome!!!! Especially for a game on PS2...The Philly Shell in this game is 1 of the best I've seen be executed. Yea i know those haymakers looks super arcade but i think it was a good mixture between the 2
Err no. It depends what you like. Sim boxing fans prefer 2004. They get more and more arcadey looking. Albeif, are probably still loada fun. Load of people like Round 4. But again, E.a asking for micro transactions.
This is not all the fight night games, although I played all of these, the first fight night games were called Knockout Kings, I remember cause I had them as a kid hehe.
The directional blocking is actually a parry system. So if you block the right side of your face and your opponent throws a left hook, you have a good counter opportunity. Source: This was my favorite game in middle school.
@@MartialMind its the predecessor. Anyways I hope you find some time to compete in the esfl. Your too humble for no reason! You would be sending alot of these esports guys away with empty pockets. Thank you for all you do for the community. And again! Do more tutorials! Peace and love
Martial this was my FAVORITE FN. Love the corner beating u can put on people. I stop playing FN when u can block head and body with the same button. Best Boxing game ever...
There was a different controller type you could’ve used that you missed and with the right stick blocking that was the beginning of the parry system but in Round 2 it’s super necessary to use
Was actually thinking Martial, I remember you mentioning you like Rap in one of your other videos and you love Martial arts? Well.... How about both? Play Def Jam Fight for NY, it's basically a arcade style MMA game with Rappers as the fighters, definitely recommend it mate
The earliest Fight Night game I’ve ever played is Round 4, but I absolutely sucked, lol. Was one of the first games I played online. Really looking forward to watching this series. By the way, don’t wanna bug you so I won’t ask anymore, I know it’s probably annoying, but I sent you a DM on Twitter regarding something with UFC Undisputed Legacy, the UFC Undisputed 3 mod. Wanted to ask if you’d like to be involved with something in the mod. Thanks, and appreciate the video!
The simulation aspect gets dialed down as you get into the numbered fight nights.I was one of the top players online in round 2 on Xbox at the time. But all the game was is who is the fastest at rotating the stick to throw haymakers. I was very fast at it lol. Round 3 was a huge visual step up, I never played 4 so I'm looking forward to see the video on it. I don't see how they could have messed it up vs 3. But I don't doubt it.
Fight Night 2 and 3 were sooo goood....for diffrent reasons I really enjoyed the arcade style of 2 just how you could flow 6 punch combo's lol.......3 is so nostalgic for me spent alot of time with the boys on that one.
Gotta use that jab more brother. a few more 1-2 combos, high then low. Work the head then the body hard. Drain him. Conserve energy, stick and move for the first few rouds, let him throw himself out, then come in HARD and pop him. Leave those special punches be, unless you have him in a knockdown situation, THEN let the special punch fly
