I have seen some of the MVS community's videos on the game... on my last couple of flights and I gotta say you're right. Some people's entire channel just seems to complain about the game.
I main Garnet in season 2 and let me tell you it’s been rough. Why is her difficulty recommended? It should be hard. The amount of effort you actually put into the game to win with Garnet, in comparison to characters in the same category, is total bunk. Keep in mind that characters in recommended are: Joker, Samurai Jack, and Wonder Woman. Some of her attacks are so inconsistent, don’t kill at high percentages, in addition to having slow windups. If they label her as recommended difficulty at least make her kit on par with characters in the same difficulty level.
Garnet main here too - I would definitely say she's a harder character to play. Very rewarding when you are dialed in with her because it takes a lot of work. Her attacks and combo feel so good when you pull em off though!
I'm a Garnet player,and i gotta say you're fucking spitting. I made it through the video, and every complaint you said about Garnet as well as how privileged other characters like Samurai Jack is resonates with me so damn hard. Literally watching the gameplay and seeing her drop hits that connect, fail to punish moves after dodging with jab( and getting punished for it) and that dumbass clip of the Jack player mashing jab on trade and winning from it hurt my soul. I gotta take a break from this game. There's too many characters that i hate playing against, Garnet doesn't have the tools to keep it even, and the training mode isn't in a state to help me try either.
Almost lost all brain activity when the Jack robbed me off of that. I know she may not be the "worst in the game" but I hate how degenerate you have to fish for neutral airs for 70% of your initiations/engagements as a playstyle.
Yeah, You know my pain. This is the multiversus equivalent of the old Smash meme " Better nerf Greninja " Honestly ive stopped playing entirely after giving the game a fair shot after Garnets loops were taken away, What killed me was that they kept in Taz's infinite and gave Iron giant other 0-deaths at the time. And her loops gave her a good punish game given she had her full meter, and gave her actual kill confirms, gave her good mu's against heavies, but her mu's against the skinny characters where those combos were much harder to pull off, or impossible.
I wasn't around for a lot of Smash 4-Ultimate. But nerfing Greninja seems very similar to "Better nerf Reinhardt" in overwatch. The character already struggles even after being nerfed, then they do it again. Then in the same patch give a top tier a slight buff.
Some advice to for garnet. Gauntlet at low and some mid percents can be followed up with shoulder then fair. Use shoulder check to approach. If you fast fall it and land, you can sometimes dodge backwards and get out. Shoulder can go up or down in angle a little bit so if you time it right you can actually punish things like batman down special or potentially trade with women nair or even her side special. Also feel free to use it to move away from people for positioning. Speaking of positioning void dropped a video showing off new movement tech. You need to learn that stuff cuz other characters are gonna start using it and garnet is behind as it is. You need every advantage you can get. If you dodge down and jump in the air you maintain a lot of momentum and its good for getting around the map, setting up to punish certain moves. It helps a lot when navigating neutral. Moving to combos. Jab down can combo into dash attack if you do the double tap dash attack method. Jab combos into shoulder, and with the new changes you get a lot of aerial combos that didn't exist before. Jab shouler can branch 4 ways depending on DI. If they di high up, up special and up air can combo. If they go down or out shoulder again or fair can connect. Speaking of, fair 1 combos into shoulder, as well as up air depending on DI and percent. Onto specials. Up special travels very slowly. Shooting it directly up is actually a really good way to punish high recovery because if it hits in the air it can combo into up air or up b. On the way down it places the bubble when you land. Now putting bubble on ledge sends ledge sitters into a frenzy. Strong down air on ledge also has a slam that can hit below the ledge. So thats a good way to punish people ledge sitting as well. Dont always let the gauntlets shoot the star. Sometimes its better to use the star on manual in neutral cuz it acts as a panic button for untrue combos. Sometimes people get kidnapped for dropping or messing up. Ive had some people simply refuse to approach me until it goes away. Im no garnet god but these are things ive found to be helpful in the sea of minus matchups for garnet. Im just a beta made gar et lover and steven universe fan enjoying her. Hopefully they give us an actual character someday. I hope this helps someone. Also the hour long video was great. I like your channel. Keep up the hustle. Dont give up on her yet.
Just a little to add to what you're saying cause I think you gave some good advice: Something about Garnett that is unique about her is that she can approach from a diagonal position. Basically, you can approach from the side and above an opponent w her nair because of where her hitboxes are. If her nair is a compass you can approach from the southeast or southwest because of her feet. I abuse the hell out of many matchups because of that hitbox. Her nair is a lot like Steven's, but it has more range. I haven't lost to that many wonderwomen and I feel like it's one of her better matches actually, but then again I'm only Diamond V. Maybe I haven't run into a good one yet. My problem matches are joker and samurai jack. Both characters have good jabs which can lead into 40 percent combos.
Your intro was hilarious😂 but its facts i hust made it to platinum was 2 weeks worth of work but yes ranked does kinda suck but if youre smart you can overcome it. Hopefully by next week ill be master rank jack. Granted i love every character im going to try and rank up the whole roster. Just working 9n one character at a time. Since jack is new i gotta learn it all thru rank

Just Got my Garnet to Silver today and lemme tell ya You have to know the quantum formula for everyone of Her moves AND your opps general strat if you don't have both of those things you should never approach with Garnet FIRST OF ALL her Neutral is a decent poke I use it for kills and timing/rhyth m timings not the N-special just basic rhythm of the fight. General game plan is get them to the top corners and U-air, Fair, or U-spec, or S-Spec or clinging to the sides of the stage then Dair , or Air -N Try to save Side Spec for edge guarding but don't be to stinghy Clap, Neutral, sometimes Fair 2, U-air, U-Spec are ur kill moves Always remember if you use your Dtilt with dodges effectively your opps cannot jab If ur are being aggressive Poking with Fair1s, retreating Nairs, every now and then ground hit of Dair are good for feeling out how aggro your opp is. While being semi safe If they are passive You have to patient and poke with S-Spec, risky instant dash atks, ground up-spec,and Iad Fairs are how you get in Try using Up-spec to float for a while sometimes it helps dirupt your opps rythm That's all I got off the top of my head 🤷🏾♂️
I made it to Diamond 2 with Garnet😢. It got REALLY bad after that. So bad that I gave up. I kept playing but I wasn’t locked in. It was just SOOO unfair.
I feel like the people who made this game, just don't understand fighting games "oh yeah this animation looks pretty cool, let's put a hitbox on it. Oh we're making joker? let's give him some cards to throw, that's a joker thing right?" just absolute trash. Just absolutely no higher level thoughts were put into making this game.
And my homeboys think I’m crazy when I say it . Her multi jab endlag is INSANE . Her hit box is pretty big , the mine only hits half the cast missing the ones with small hit boxes like bugs, Finn or joker who ur prolly gonna lose to bc they’re faster n better and easier. Ruined the game for me that was my only character n she’s gutted
I honestly don't get why her jab is so unsafe to use. It has low range, and feels slow compared to a good chunk of the cast. So why can't it be safe like everyone else?
A lot of these things you said I can relate to Stripe, having to hit a bunch of attacks to get any damage, where i get hit by Wonder Woman once or Twice and they've caught up. My chainsaw move having all the startup and not even being a kill move. Gun bullets taking FOREVER to recharge, ground up attack being very inconsistant in hitting the last hit, having no true combos.
I tried playing Stripe in the lab today, and it's so weird. Sometimes uptilt last hit combos into down air. Sometimes it doesn't, and for the life of me, I can't figure out what's causing it either way. Also I believe bullets should come back faster and dynamite should come back even slower to compensate. And give saw more angles to throw.
Joker really isn't as OP as anybody thinks. Dude like you said has a RNG card that you can go an ENTIRE match without it triggering. His hitboxes are tiny AF and on the note of Garnet?...I fought one..as Joker..and LOST to her punch spam hitting me....from a foot behind her big fusion buttox. Yeah..That never happens for ME and Joker. But Rick is kicking me with his literal backside. Bugs is side air kicking me with his GUT. Gizmo...just Gizmo. i don't even need to say it i mean the little rat can just use and of his basic attack moves in melee range and they WILL hit. SO many others like Jack need hitbox adjustments. But Joker isn't it anymore, they should actually BUFF his wild card to be visible as to when it'll happen for him at least. Cause hitting that thing is impossible if you aren't far away from the enemy. Mortys mudwall got neutred, but the rest of his kit is still plenty strong. Supermana nd WW can just be invulnerable during fast attacks, Meanwhile a character like Smith only get his armor AFTER the charge begins for a bit. Unlike Superman and WW. Garnet in my opinion doesn't suck because EVERY one i face is insanely strong and usually wins. Even when i play as Jack. I'm sure Beetlejuice will come out, have a hammer arm move that everyone will complain about, 2-3 patches later they'll nerf it like crazy. Then the Powerpuffs will be next on the chopping block. And then the next fighter and next fighter and next fight~ ya get it.. like if the devs just fixed the underlying problem..the HITBOXES. We'd be riding the smooth game.
Bro Superman main here, I can’t do it bro. Not ranked bro. I just can’t do it. This character so bad. Side attack hits nothing, gets hit by everything, moveset is complete garbage. I’m gold 3 and ive given up.
Her multihits dont work right. She needs neutral special to be faster to start and end. Give her a move on down special cool down. Let garnet combo please.
1st point, you said “in a 1v1 game” this is a 2v2 game, however. 2nd point having anything but your characters rank influence the Matchmaking is asinine, I can go in “unranked” throw a bunch of matches play ranked and have easy opponents, If they fix that THEN I can swap characters throw a bunch of ranked games as Garnet, go back to fin and fight easy opponents. MAKE RANK MATTER
You are not the worst Garnet, however characters being good isn’t always the reason they are played, some people like Garnet and might be there favorite playstyle/ character in the game.
Literally she isn't even that large in the show just a bit tall but they made sure shaggy hits don't miss and has the smallest hitox in the game@@MartinDemario
