A jazz arrangement of "Count Me Out" by Kendrick Lamar Cameron Campbell - piano Conway Campbell Jr - bass Anton Kot - drums Mixed and edited by Cameron Campbell
The chord progression from the original track with the choir vocals in the background always gives me chills. The song deserved this kind of treatment/recognition. Love this arrangement!
‘This is me and I’m blessed, Anybody fighting through the stress’ that line stopped me from doing some harmful shit to myself more times than I can count.
I know people love TPAP for its jazz but that last album has so many great arrangements, you guys killed it and should definitely see about playing more!!
I saw the livestream of their performance from The Mezzrow Jazz Club in NYC and I'm glad this was recommended. Hopefully I get to see this in person soon!
Dude. The feelings this song evokes in me is something I can’t quite explain. You guys were able to bring that alive once again. This is heat, and I do believe Mr Lamar would absolutely love this himself. Seriously guys, thanks for sharing this with us, God bless you all!
From this, to your halo cover, and the tyler the C one, i am glad i discovered yall. You sound like how i want to sound as a player 😂. Keep it up man i love it
A common configuration is a small-diaphragm stereo pair aimed at the keys to get a nice smooth sound as well as clarity, with a single large-diaphragm microphone aimed at the body (sometimes above around 50-80 degrees, here it seems pointed at the middle of the piano at about 35 degrees) intended to get more warmth and depth in the mix. it looks like they are using that arrangement here, except there is another small-diaphragm aimed at the piano player that maybe is helping provide more brightness as well as a clean mono sound to compliment or backup the stereo pair above. It's possible they were just giving themselves more options when it came time to mix, or they planned on using that mic to input to a sidechain compressor, or a crazy reverb, something more for "sauce" than for meat & potatoes. I agree with you, the sound is very nice in this video!
