YES, this game can be played online via TeknoParrot, including the awesome co-op mode where two racers combine into a freaking tank (skip to 10:31 for that). To play online, you have to:
Register at teknoparrot.com/, then go to teknoparrot.co... and create an ID number.
Open TeknoParrot, go to MKDX's game settings, and enter your ID number after "PlayerID". While you're at it, make sure your Gateway number is correct for your current connection.
Have Steam running. Yes, Steam. This game uses a process from that program, for some reason.
On TeknoParrot, go to TeknoParrot Online and start (or join) a lobby, as seen at the beginning of this video.
When you're in the selftest screen, make sure each player has a different ID number. Press the test button to go into the test menu, then go into Game Options and verify that "BoardID" isn't set to the same number as the other player.
Once the game loads, wait in the main screen until you see a message saying there are two players (if you don't have the latest English patch, you'll see a 2 and some Japanese characters in an orange font).
Press the item button to start the game. When it asks for your Banapass, press F2 to load it.
That's it. If you can't load the game at all... check out one of the 200 other tutorials about that on RU-vid. Thanks to Rand0m-Walk for the races and the footage! (He's on the right.) By the way, one of us is in South America and the other in Europe, so you'll probably get better FPS than us if there aren't 8000 miles between you.
