Hey notro i have a question does the uninstall script works with injector that i downloaded? Bc my laptop getting bad defender notifi of injector.dll .Btw Get well soon.
In my opinion, the start screen was very nice, especially when we set the application background the same as the desktop background. the screen of all applications is very interesting and in my opinion it is easier to find the application you are looking for than in windows 10. it is a pity that Microsoft will no longer provide further security updates because I use it all the time on a daily basis on a laptop without a touchscreen
Windows 8.1 still stands strong and in my and many people's books is the last good windows version, other's just...... you can say ruined performance and also i am planning to still use 8.1 after its end of support, because really once an os ends support, if the os was appriciated (in the case of 8.1) then most software vendors will support it for 7 years alteast after its End of support deadline (this is the case with windows 7 mind you)
I think in the beginning there part of your problem is running the game at 2880x1529. That resolution is far too high for the intel iGPU to handle, and honestly it did a pretty good job considering the resolution. oh and full screen not working is likely because of the scaling within windows. Minecraft really doesn't respond well to anything above 100% scaling. Also, that GTX 1060 you mentioned at the end of the video is a pretty good match for this CPU I would say. Maybe you could even try some shaders on it?
Windows 8.1 is one of my favourite operating systems of all time. I'm very happy you did a video about it as I sometimes use Windows 8.1 in daily life. Windows 8.1 is close to my heart as it was BRAND NEW when I was very young. I also love the metro UI as it is almost refreshing to see constant live tiles. Edit: The Windows 8.1 start screen actually reminds me of the 2012 Xbox 360 home screen, another staple of my childhood.
lol im watching this on Windows 8.1 and i seriusly love it i will never plan to upgrade to 10 or 11,minecraft is so smooth on my lap , shame that the support will ends in 6 months, but i will always use it
I do like Windows 8.1, as it runs better than Windows 10 on lower end hardware. Like, for example, my old laptop with a 1.7 GHz Pentium M, 2 GB DDR2, and a 2.5" IDE HDD. It can run Windows XP, Vista, and 7. Windows 8.1 32 Bit runs on it, it uses about 500 MB RAM, and it is decent, and still gets updates. Windows 10 32 Bit only runs on the version 1607, which came out in 2016, no newer versions work. You can't boot a newer ISO from a USB or DVD without a instant blue screen, which you can't get past. And Window's updates doesn't help either. A long time ago it said it fixed a problem, and it allowed me to update to version 20H1, but after a few months it blue screened, and didn't ever get back to the desktop. I tried to reinstall the 1607 version, and it never updated to the newest 20h1 ever again. It's odd. Since then I just have Windows 8.1 on it. I should note, Windows 8, 8.1, and Windows 10 don't work with the Intel 915 GM IGPU, even in compatibility mode.
I installed windows 11 on same specs, it ran faster than 8.1, maybe cause i used a custom lite build (tiny11). Try it yourself, ms said its gonna lose support in January 2023.
@@patrickguy33 well I was just saying so that people could atleast try arch, though there's no doubt about old method being the best But people find it complicated
If he does do arch we should suggest that he tries to do Gentoo on his low end laptop Lol that might be a bit too mean as it would take a week to compile LMAO
I think arch would be hard for him due to the docs and the main process of downloading it. It is quite simple if you have good knowledge about linux. If not i think he should use fedora (xfce plasma version) or manjaro, Debian is also a good idea manjaro also.
If you want simple easy archlinux installer just boot into arch live cd then Type archinstall press enter configure the setting if you’re done confirm installing then wait until done! I might make a video about the command and you watch my video but not yet until I finish my vacation
My first ever laptop came with Windows 8.0, then I updated it to 8.1, then 11 (unnoficially supported), than Linux! And I still have it today, and it works like brand new!
i'll was using windows 8.1 for months its tweaked for me max for me boot up times 5 secs on HDD really lightweight 300mb on boot and its just really amazing its the best OS out there C:
You're wrong about there's no way to close metro apps except from the task manager, if you just drag your mouse to the top right, the minimize and close buttons will pop up.
if you want some help with Fabric and all the performance mods, there's a really easy way to get all the best performance mods. Look up the "Fabulously Optimised" modpack, it'll have everything you need for the best performance on Fabric.
Windows 8.1 is far more better than windows 10. On some games it runs better due to it being more optimized and not full of bloatware like windows 10. But i still use windows 10 due to program compabitility
but on windows 10 u can yourself optimize system like removing blotware, disabing mostly dont need services and etc.. for me it was taking 2 hours to full optimize windows 10 by myself
@idk what to put here no i wanna stay on windows bc i like playing more games and i dont wanna be confused how use linux im good using windows and thats it
Super late, but try doing it in something UNIX-based, like FreeBSD for example Also older windows versions like 98, Me or 2000 could be very interesting too
whoa i can;t belive it you can run windows 8.1 in minecraft let me tryit toooooooooooo.......i hope mojang makes for windows 8.1 it will be great for 8.1 windows players
you can close out of metro apps by pulling them down from the top and they will not stay at background but metro apps are like windows 10's suspend thing and metro apps actually close after some time
7:06 there is you go to the left corner and there are open metro apps just close them and also if you go to the app itself go on the top a bar appears and there is a close button
Windows 8.1 is a good option as the Windows 7 is getting outdated and unusable, personally i download classic shell that replaces the oem start menu into something more familiar like the Windows 7 or Windows 10 start menu, its much smoother than Windows 10/11 as it doesnt have too much bloat and processes in the background
Arch Linux is cool, but the installation is not the most user friendly. Even with Archinstall it's still command line based. I recommend EndeavourOS instead. It's based off arch but way more user friendly with a graphical installer and some goodies in their repo.
8.1 was just a reskinned improvement of windows 7, with essentially the same code base and applications just with a dumb full screen start menu, which you can use extensions to replace
@@NotroDan what’s funny is there are duplicate apps for both the full screen and the desktop, such as the calculator. Though one thing to note is they added a top bar with a close and minimise button to full screen apps, you just need to keep your cursor at the top of the screen for a few seconds for it to appear. Same applies for accessing the taskbar in the start menu and in full screen apps at the bottom of the screen
Windows 8 actually has a pretty different codebase from windows 7. The kernel implemented a lot of APIs that weren’t in 7, as well as WinRT and other similar API support. Windows 8 can look like 7, but under the hood it’s quite different
@@razzledev well if you think about it, every windows version since 2000 is built on top of each other, and windows 8 just added more features to the previous codebase while maintaining compatibility (I’ve had 7 programs run under 8 without issues)
4:45 i count 15 unneeded apps, Weather, finance, food and drink, travel, health and fitness, music, skype, reader, news, sound recorder, sport, scan, skydrive, reading list and the windows store.
Try install 8.1 on minimally Kaby lake processor I've been playing games on 8.1 for few years because 10 were unstable. It was nice with buttside of popup warning that it's not build for that processor. I finally upgrade to 10 to claim my whole kaby(because 3rd party update/security discontinue Jan 1st 2023), it gave so many crushes only to find out you didn't agree to NEW terms from nvidia update, in few days row apart.....
Him: I playing Minecraft on Windows 8.1 in 2022 having 400 fps with only small screen and head always turns Also me on windows 7: *Maniac laughting having 100 fps on big screen, the head doesn't turns*
Why is playing Minecraft on Windows 8.1 so special? I used 8.1 for all my games right up until around 2 months ago when I finally updated to Windows 10.
Actually when you criticised that there is not close or minimise buttons, you just have to keep your cursor at the top for 1s. And ctrl + alt + tab shows all apps
