man there was nothing like neopets back in the day, i am so here for their redo because it was so much of my tween/teen life that i'm dying a little bit (but in a good way)
I got pretty hardcore back into Neopets during 2020 when I was stuck at home lol. I have my accounts from when I was a kid (my first Neopet is 21 years old lol) and it was a lot of fun, but there’s been so much drama and tension due to TMTs poor decisions. I’m excited for this new era and fingers crossed it turns out well lol.
I legit would not be the person I am today without the friends I made in my guild on neopets as a kid in 2006 lol. They showed me music and movies that shaped my interests and led me to the stuff I'm into as an adult now. Shout out to the early Warrior Cats community back in the day.
Neopets is so great, I really want to love it again - I just wish I didn't feel like I can't do anything except daily events for the first little while. I log in, do my daily chores and log out because there's seemingly nothing left to do without a stockpile of NP
wow, I just slapped in the face with nostalgia. the jelly, the omelets, the pets for your neopets, the crappy little games, everything. i was obsessed with this game for a summer when I visited my dad out of town as a kid. i remember logging on every day and i guilt tripped my uncle into trading me his rare snow griffin pet but after that summer i never played it again. but i tell you it was a magical summer.
Got back into Neopets about a year ago and have played pretty regular since. Jellyneo and the Neopets subreddit are very helpful with getting back into the game, as well as inspo for goals you want to achieve! I have sky high hopes for the new team, and I hope they treat us well. Also of interest: there’s an official Neopets cookbook! It’s v cute and nostalgic.
I've been playing on and off for the past decade. Was most heartbroken about all of the flash games being gone, so happy they're finally making big steps to bring some of them back
omg yessssss MORE NEOPETS PLAYERS the game is really not newbie friendly at the moment, but I think the best way to make money to start off is by doing your dailies, trudies (you get more and more NP if you do it every day consecutively), and you can get nerkmids that sell for over 100k each from battledome fights. I recommend getting a cheap set like 2x Scroll of Ultranova and training your pet up a tiny bit or picking one up from the pound, lots of decent statted ones that float around there at times. That should get your feet on the ground and its all about picking up niche hobbies from there! Hope you and all the other returning players enjoy the nostalgia c: I have a lot of the hope for the future of the site and after meeting with TNT in person there's definitely an excitement surrounding everything that isn't insubstantial
Tips for making neopoints: 1. Battledome - just fight the virtupets defenderbot over and over until it tells you it can't award items anymore. You can get codestones and neocola tokens, both of which will always sell and for a good price. 2. Trudy's surprise - if you do it every day, you get on average about 20k per day. Instantly. For free.
I get on snapchat approximately thrice a year. Three-ish months ago was #2, and I spent a solid 3 minutes drunkenly ranting to everyone about how fun Neopets still was. It's crazy that it's changed so much in 3 months. I can't waittttt to have an off-and-on relationship with Neopets the way I do with Runescape in the year 2023.
I recommend to try opening a shop, and selling pieces or do auctions with things you really dont want. and find a game that you really like and send the highest scores
I would play neopets during the summer at my moms work bc we couldn’t afford a babysitter it makes me so happy to see that neopets is potentially coming back
i actually logged into my old account thanks to this video. And re Kass Basher: Wait for Wind +9, while he's flying hold the mouse button down. Release at highest point, and start clicking again when Kass hits the Ground. That got me the Avatar back then.
i spent SO much money on neopets in my late teens and early 20s. i had really awesome names for them, they were all painted, and i even paid for custom profiles for all of them. at some point i just.. stopped playing. last time i checked tho, most of my pets had been adopted out or whatever over the years. all that money wasted LOL im glad tho that a new team is trying to bring it back and keep it running!
On the last thing you said about html/css. That is LITERALLY the reason I am a software engineer now, I kid you not. There is a few of us out there that are women in tech because of Neopets.
The brand ambassador thing might’ve been a masterplan where they expected people would find the decision strange, causing it to gain a lot of traction which would cause more people to think about neopets Though that would be pretty stupid and it’s probably not the case
Omg how nostalgic. Im so happy to see so many core things from our day still exists today. Some of the neopets games were so good tho, i try to get back into my acc every few years w no success
AAAAAA SUPER AWESOME VIDEO!!! I loved Neopets ever since I was a kid, although there was a point where I completely gave up on the site thanks to the NFT stuff. Now that that’s over though, I recently got back on the site, and I’ve been having an absolute blast!!! I’m so excited for them to convert all the games to HTML5 omg!!! I’d also love it if they make all the other Flash stuff on the site work too!
I never played neopets but I will probably check it out now. I was more of a Webkinz kid. I still play it to this day. I’d love to see more of the classic flash games make a comeback.
loved this!! i was hardcore into neopets as a kid and seeing some of the old games brought back so many mems 😭 i was fully teaching myself html coding to make my homepage cute and aesthetic LOL
Been playing since the beginning, off and on. Right now I'm more ON than I was in 2018 and I'm playing daily while the faerie festival is happening and I'll continue to support the new Neopets staff to see if they can really bring back what I loved most. They announced a new plot in 2024 so I'm training my pet for that rn
Honestly if you can even remember vauge information about your old account the neopets team might be able to find it. If you can remember what email it was on that might be enough.
God, i haven't even so much as thought about neopets in years. I never had a computer at home, so my ability to play it was super limited. i never even learned the game enough to do the chats, or much of anything besides buying/creating pets, and honestly that was enough for me xD
i used to spend so much time on neopets in the 2000's!! i loved collecting all the different things and looking after my neopets and exploring the world. the thing that i miss the most are the flash games and the big board game. i would love to start playing again.
I just popped in my decade old account and was pleasantly surprised its still there! And good old past me had the mind to store some funds in my bank and the interest accumulated blew my mind. Hahahhah its nice to have some starting Neopoints coming back into the game.
I've always loved neopets and played all the time in middle school. I just my neopets trading cards the other day and it made me miss it. I've always loved the unique art style too. There's no reason why neopets wouldn't be popular today, they just need to update some things and expand on it!
omg the nostalgia is REAL, i def think it looks just as confusing now as when i was a kid lol BUT the new game they are creating sounds cool!! Nonetheless, your commentary never disappoints haha thanks for this liss, keep us updated!
Oh my GOSH I am so validated by your experiences with the tutorial and other stuff not working, and not understanding how to do most of the navigations. I never played Neopets (because I never heard of it lol) as a kid, so the learning curve has been BRUTAL. Also, anytime I get a bunch of points on any of the Flash games, the points get rejected because I’m an ‘invalid user’???
Aw, I miss Neopets! I played from about 12 years old all the way through high school and college and eventually I just stopped. But embarrassingly enough I still have a “premium” account that I pay like 60 bucks a year for but I never had the heart to stop it because it gives you a 5th pet slot and I couldn’t get rid of any of my Neopets! I wish they would make an app for it to all be accessible for mobile because I would absolutely get back into it!
The web browser based social virtual character game that i really like as a kid was Millsberry so much so that the old user name that I used for a long time had Millsberry in the name 😅. Sadly Millsberry was discontinued in January 1st, 2011.
I've played Neopets around 2004-2008 and just now looking to get back into it again :D This time around, I WILL get that baby paintbrush (I was way to0 young to understand how to make much NP back then). Thanks for posting this video!
"i wanted to sign up for the neocash thing but i couldnt figure it out in 15 seconds so, i'm out."-girl, SAME! if it takes longer than a couple seconds to figure out, with no clearly accessible links, then it's too much trouble lol also, love how i got back into neopets mere weeks before this grand announcement from them, and all this stuff about brand ambassadors, etc. i feel like im SO ahead of trends 😌haha
I've continued to play Neopets on and off for yeeeears and really the only thing stopping me from being a giant outspoken Neo fan today is how chunky and disjointed the broken site is. The new UI is pretty... awful. And with the broken games and old broken pages it's hard to enjoy a lot of the things I used to. If they can breathe some new life into those things, that'd be wonderful!
I've always love Neopets, do have account need to check ok the games we've updated. Just glad, it's gradually coming back even if it's going to take a while.
Forget giving young kids gamba brain, I'm getting gamba brain playing it at 28 :') though...looking back, it honestly could have started when I was 10 and playing neopets
omg they actually let you use the shop wizard for quests now? it used to bar you, i had to get my mom to go on her account and gift me the items after she looked them up at the wizard LMAO. also kass basher did change, alst i checked the wind doesnt even like reset after you've hit it, so once its like -8, it feels like its alwayyssss in the negatives. also the forgotten shore map pieces are super easy to get and theres pretty decent loot, some ppl sell them cheap + you can get them from anchor management
god I remember friends who were much less tech knowledge than me learning some html because they wanted to make their myspace and other websites look cute. I wasn't as interested in that. so I could fix their PC, but they would code my page cus they said it was boring lol. Bring back noob! Its funny, nowadays I hear younger adults talk about how their favorite online game from their childhood is still running and how weird that was. I'm just old enough that I've had the internet since I was a kid, but there are no online games left from that era. The oldest one I can think of are things like maplestory or WoW, but WoW launched later in the year after I graduated high school and maplestory didn't come to the US until 2005. I did get to play a bunch of flash games as a teen/young adult on things like newgrounds and kongregate, and the kids that made those games grew up to make some of the games that started the indie game boom in the late 2000s. Actually my gf and I met online through a mutual friend and we bonded over sending each other cool games we found on kongregate, so kingregate always has a special place in our hearts.
I'm a mobile neo player. It's tricky for most games because I don't have a Bluetooth keyboard or anything. Some games though that just take clicking work find on mobile now that ruffle is integrated.
I used to play a lot back in the day. I loved the random art contest and won a couple times. I made most of my points from the games and the interest rates and there was a list of dailies. Stuff like the omelette, jelly, the fashion fever game gave you 900 points for doing nothing per round… i have popped back in a couple times since college ill be glad to have it come back. I lived for playing Cheat! And pyramid solitaire
I still played Neopets into the late 2010s, but for the last few years I haven't been able to get into my account because I used a fake birthday as a kid and can't do the birthday verification (woulda been nice to play during 2020 lockdown ;-;). This video inspired me to finally reach out to TNT to get back into my account, something I've been meaning to do for years because I don't wanna have to start over from scratch. I really really really really really wanna play it now, hopefully I can get into my account!
John Legend being an ambassador… what is this marketing team and who are they advertising to? Also what was in your CD player while you played Neopets back in the day?
i miss petpetpark , when i was younger i had never heard of neopets before petpetpark shut down and for some reason i thought they changed the game entirely to something different
My last memory with Neopets was seeing them being sold at Kmart when that was still in business. Other than that I didn't get into them because I saw them as a Pokemon rip off.
Great video! Hope you make more neopets content! Best ways to make money are dailies and games for a beginner. I would play the battledome and face against koi warrior on easy to get codestones.
I played a long time ago, don't know if I'd call myself a veteran since I never got much money or anything. I got really into Subeta at one point and forgot all about Neopets.
yay! i semi got into neopets just before it all broke and was hoping they would eventually get it back. BUT ALSO, i didnt realize you were a fellow scape nerd, thats super sick honestly. ive been on a break for.. awhile, but ill defo be back at some point, lol. i know the scape content creation scene is kiiinda oversaturated sometimes, but id be interested in a vid about scape from your experience/perspective if you are ever up to that, i know i cant be the only one. edit: bring noob back fkjdhsfkds IF i can get back into my account its been ages i dont remember shit, maybe i get back into it? idk. this was cute tho! beep boop just wanted to come back to say, i did get back into my account (even tho its only 5 years old rip imagine still having the one from when i was a child, WHEW.) anyways, i played some games, fed and played with my pets, read some books, etc. still a vibe even all these years later. idk if ill play it super often, but at least dailies and stuff for the time being! for science: Meridiaslight(f) the Speckled Usul Kynesbreath(m) the Cloud Lupe my babies.. (yes they are elder scrolls references) ANYWAYS, thanks for this vid truly, i had no idea they got the site back working. edit edit: also for battledome, there's a lot of guides for it, but a quick n ez dummies version: chia clown, start on easy and work ur way up. you're looking specifically for the codestone drops (5k+ usually), other stuff is bonus. Parasol of Unfortunate Demise, Flaming Oven Gloves, Ridiculously Heavy Battle Hammer, Virtupets X-514 Super Shield, and Scroll of Ultranova are all good beginner equipment that shouldnt break the bank. for abilities: static cling, shade, and positive thinking. to train neopets youll need dubloons and go to swashbuckling academy, reading books to your pet increases INT. OH AND use healing springs in fairyland/Magical Healing Potion (dont pay over 50NP for one) to heal early on. wheels: excitement and knowledge if you want to play it safe. hopefully this helps with some direction for any new/returning players.
stock market is a good way to passively get nps! look up a guide, but mostly you check every day and sell anything that's over 1000 per stock. no thinking involved, and the companies never go bankrupt so you can't make the wrong choice.
