Demand council position clause in feudal contracts is OP.

Nice video - thanks mate. I am playing tall in the South East of England at the moment (Duchies of Kent, Essex and East Anglia in the South East of England). I found that through a mix of blackmailing people for gold, getting money from the pope, going on crusades etc I had so much money - so I decided to stay as the king of England's vassal and just build up instead of out and see what happened. Now about 50 years later - I am the most powerful vassal in England. I am also the richest. Honestly some years I have so much money I literally cannot spend it all! I can have building projects going on in all my holdings and still have spare money floating around. And I still have ridiculous amounts of tax flowing in. I have an Uber army but I still have my Lieges protection if someone stronger comes knocking on the door. It's definitely an interesting way to play, in CK2 I always used to go wide. But this leads to some interesting gameplay choices. BTW the number of times I saved my Liege's ass in wars means he almost always loves me. Thanks for the vid. Good tip about building extra cities/castles in your holdings somehow I managed to forget about that. I guess I have something to spend all that money on now ;-) It is definitely an interesting change from the Total War style of play where you basically go out and paint the map in your colour

I love that, I imagine the politics of that version of England would revolve more around you than maybe even your king

Going through my first tall campaign, and I added a challenge of being Norse, going on to an adventure, get Normandy, become Norman, swear fealty to the French King, remain Asatru. As a little flavor I made it a Scandinavian Elect before swearing and before adopting Norman culture, so I can choose my own heir. Still need to conquer duchy for my other kids, but its really cool so far. Plus, I can keep on raiding even in Feudal.

@@anthonysunseri1865 9 months since I did it, so I dunno if they’ve changed it. Usually if you get the Scandinavian elect, if you say you have 2 sons for instance, your realm will get split up, but if you get territory outside your main realm, the kid that is not your heir will get that outside your realm and thus, you’ve indirectly created a designated heir system. Playing tall is different than regular gameplay, and can be pretty powerful. Usually having more manpower is the difference maker. I’ve once taken out 15k with only 4-5k. And being a vassal also switch up the dynamic of the gameplay quite a bit. And you can actually get some pretty wicked bonuses thanks to the contract! Get counsel position! And being a pagan within a Catholic realm also adds up the intensity. It’s a fun playthrough. When Royal Courts hits, I think I’m gonna return and try to recreate the Achaemenid Empire whom were Zoroastrian.

I was able to build tall in a Novgorod campaign after conquering Kiev. Moved my capital to Kiev, conquered land across the Dnieper and was able to defend against the Mongols from my stupidly high level forts. It was great.

Easiest nations to build tall with, Bohemia and Georgia in the 1066 start. Bohemia is protected by the HRE and Georgia is isolated from surrounding hostile nations with a strong ally and with the potential to ally the Eastern Roman Empire for protection in the short term.

I went tall in 867 Brittany. When I got about as tall as I could get (limited mainly by innovations) I used Brittany's resources to achieve Emperor of Hispania in about 270 years. Stewardship is key.

This is highly dependent on play style but it's extremely easy to expand quickly and efficiently with tribal government and although feudal out-strips tribal in economy 'in theory' the practical outcome is that a prestigious ruler and their dynasty can easily dominate using a 'wide' strategy against any feudal ruler. The sheer power of their armies supported by vassals who practically worship them is enough to overwhelm any feudal defensive strategy no matter how carefully laid. Their income is no slouch either as they take a much larger percentage of their vassals' income at max fame than a feudal ruler can.

If you dont own the church holding you can ether let him build what ever he wants, but you will lose majority of the profits or you can solely build military buildings in temple holdings because that way you get 100% levies they provide! City holdings should always have only money producing buildings, temples should only have military buildings and your castle holdings can be a mixed bag depending on your play style. You might want to be quick building up your church holdings early game fist, as the head priest usually builds and occupies all the holdings building slots and wont allow you to change them after initial construction. It kind of sucks you cant tell your direct vassal or priest to change a certain building in the holding once it was built, but if you are quick you wont even need to enact lay clergy to gain control of all church holdings, this way you can save up on your domain limit and still get 100% out of your churches because they dont produce gold but troops instead!

How do you ensure your successors have good stewardship? If you have a player character with exceptional stewardship, do you try to use up your entire domain limit? What if your successor then has a lower stewardship than you? What do you do with the excess domains?
@SepikRoque
@SepikRoque 3 года назад
If my heir has a heir of his own heir I give the excess counties to that heir sometimes I know is a bit risky because IA is retarded but if everything goes well those domains always get back to you during each succesion and if you have a good steward character again then you can keep all the domains again
@SepikRoque
@SepikRoque 3 года назад
I forgot to mention, try to get good traits like genious or intelligent for example because those traits give your future heirs a good amount of stats from the begining also you should assign someone to educate them (or assign yourself to that task)

I've heard it said that Church vassal holdings are more efficient at producing money and levies than city vassals or barony vassals. Obviously your personal holdings are the number one most useful however.
@styxrakash4639
@styxrakash4639 2 года назад
@Carl Le Pauvre I thought in ck3 it was a binary decision of the archbishop supporting you or not - unlike ck2 where you got more levies and taxes based off opinion
@svingvejv3593
@svingvejv3593 4 года назад
I'd recommend not building cities, but baronies (castles) instead. Due to you being able to control them. Using the same development as your primary title if they are in your capital county as well as giving county bonuses to all other baronies. Espicially nice for partition succesion due to no penalty for revoking baronies. The county capital gets another building, but the barony way does work wonders. Have 200+ monthly income in my game as a reference. Geography determines what buildings you can build, for example you can only build manor houses (produces lots of income) on farmlands.
@HForHavoc
@HForHavoc 4 года назад
My only rebuttal would be that you aren’t maximizing your income and money in two ways: 1) with cities you get 100% of the money that gets made in your counties PLUS taxes from your republican vassals 2) you have a decent chance that those vassals will build their own buildings, saving you a chunk of cash. I’ve had several rep vassals build in the cities and it’s saved me literally thousands that I could then use to put into the army etc. I totally see where you’re coming from tho and it’s a good strategy.

Temples are the best way to go because they provide 100% levies and up to 55% taxes based on your level of devotion

@@svingvejv3593 of course! Last game I restored Greater Armenia, and Apostolics have 33% temple discount which makes it even more OP. Especially since a lot of the mines are in temples! Though I replace the monasteries building with something else that gives taxes/levies because my realm priest getting piety is useless to me.

The only positive argument for castles I can think of is tougher sieges for enemy, and barons dying gives you back all their gold

Incredible video, I’ve tried a tall campaign but always seem to flop. I’m trying to develop Italy in 867 so I can prioritize building tall early. But it never seems to work, I’m just trying to build at least 1 of 3 universities as a general goal.

@Havoc How were you able to avoid your house switching to another culture within House Seniority in Bohemia? I was really enjoying playing them tall until that happened. When it switched to Polish (from Czech), I lost House Seniority. I couldn't murder the heir because he wasn't in my realm. Loved this idea! I may starting heading this route more often.

How have you been able to avoid having another culture take over your titles? At some point, an eldest house member could come from another culture. You'd lose all of the research you had previously done.

@Reee Flex fair enough, I wasn’t specific in my first comment. He was using Bohemia which has House Seniority. He never mentioned switching it after 100 yrs. at some point, your oldest member will come from another culture because of marriage and the lines being too far out to control. I was curious how you keep that from happening, because it happened to me within 100 years. I’m just looking for help.
