Make the Sorcerer burn most of their spell slots and have a point or two of exhaustion, best plan. Just didn't anticipate the mid-combat level up into a monster stat block.
@@HeartLockHex Hey do you think you could do like a Suguru geto build who is like a monk bard multi-class that summons other monsters flavored as cursed spirits. Also you could use the spells planeshift and demiplane, planeshift to capture monsters and send them to a demiplane you have created then use Demi plane again to unleash them.
fun fact: there is actually a dnd-based ttrpg system made here in Brazil, it's called Feiticeiros e Maldições, or Sorcerers and Curses, its pretty damn good and works well with homebrews. They also have a discord server with the name of the system, although be aware that everyone there is brazilian.
Bro, I was actually thinking of playing as him on our next one shot. You just saved me a lot of headaches trying to build this. Time to roleplay me leaving for the milk and never coming back!
Not gonna lie if it weren't for the heavenly restriction monk would fit this man, but this build makes it work. Between having no magic yourself and the idea of any magic item you can find or 'acquire' making this work.
@@HeartLockHex I'm usually playing some form of warlock, both for how customizable it is and how easy it is to mix it into a build. Like Hexblade and swords bard, paladin, and even sorcerer with a pact of the tome warlock. My current campaign has me as a celestial warlock going into divine soul sorcerer in a couple levels.
Mind letting me know how this has gone if you've given the build a shot? Was curious about how to make this work in BG3 as well, would be fun as part of a 4-man that has a few anime watchers in it :).
Toji is my favorite type of anime trope character. The in a world of all this weird magic BS all he’s got going for him is these hands and he’s top tier with it. Your Might Guys and Astas classic
Yup, he's everything I wanted from Rock Lee, and a far more likeable Asta in my opinion lol. Which considering he gunned down a teenage girl in cold blood, is something.
Alternate build: >Same Race, and bonuses, pick the Moblie feat for the meme >Same Ability Scores >Same Background (make sure you pick the standard Background, choose your Equipment, then switch back to Custom Background) >Pure Monk until lvl 10, Kensei Tradition (say your Ki/abilities are just *_really_* good martial arts and Toji things) >Alert feat at 4th lvl >Martial Adept at 8th lvl because you won't get to lvl 3 in Fighter with this build >lvl 11-13 Rogue >Same Proficiency and Expertise as the video's build >The video's build uses Assassin but I personally think Swashbuckler is more fitting from Toji's instinctual behavior in Shibuya >lvl 14-15 Fighter >Fighting Style is Blind Fighting because that's literally one of Toji's abilities (technically spoilers sry) lvl 1-15 BUILD COMPLETE Unlike the video's build, you get solid AC from the very beginning without any particular need to pump your stats or rely on Magic Items and so on. Additionally, the Unarmored Movement really seals the deal for this being Toji. The Mobile Feat gives you a total of 60 ft. movement speed, in addition to the Action and Bonus Action Dash on each turn giving you 240 ft. Movement Speed max, definitely superhuman. You can also walk across water and sheer surfaces as long as you're moving, which Toji uses pretty frequently in JJK. The lvl-progression also makes more sense, as the superhuman senses, speed and reflexes would've been unlocked at his pinnacle, rather than midway through his progression. The damage you can do with this build is laughably insane: If doing raw damage, you can use a Ki Point (of which you have ten) on one attack with your Kensei Weapon to increase it by 1d6 per turn. Sneak Attack adds another 2d6 per Turn. Using the shortsword, that's 5d6+6 (~20 average damage per Turn) damage using just the attack Action, Kensei Weapon and a Ki Point. Then, Action Surge to repeat this entire process without the Sneak Attack and Kensei bonus, for a total of 7d6+12 (~30 average damage on your Turn). Now, use 1 singular Ki Point for two strikes using Flurry of Blows on your Bonus Action, adding another 2d6+6 for a total of 9d6+18, netting ~45 average damage per Turn. Again, THAT'S THE AVERAGE. Without Action Surge, which you only get one of per Short Rest, that's still 7d6+12 damage per turn before you run out of Ki, which would then bring you to 4d6+6 (~15 average damage per Turn, not good but still acceptable for 15th lvl in a party of 4). Of course, all of this is while you're blitzing around the battlefield at double the speed of everyone else, with a whopping +8 to hit on each attack (of which you'll have 6 maximum, arguably the main strength of the build), casually just telling your DM "no" to Charmed, Frightened, Blinded, DEX saves, disease, poison, and just attacking you at all in the first place. Your AC isn't great and can't really be fixed, but you have plenty abilities that allow you to give your attacker Disadvantage and/or run out of their range while avoiding Opportunity Attacks like the gremlin you are. If you choose to play like Toji, favoring doing over avoiding damage, you'll definitely struggle with battles of attrition and damage-soaking, but you have high INT and WIS for a reason. TL;DR: you get to be Toji but more resistant and arguably just as fast. Also Swashbuckler OP when using Martial Multiclassing.
@@HeartLockHex I was going for a "Toji in Shibuya" kinda feel to it. The Swashbuckler is said to embody confidence and creativity in combat, and Toji embodied that pretty well by catching Dagon's sure-hit effect with his mouth and turning rubble into bullets against Megumi's rabbits. Even when he was acting purely on instinct, he used intelligent and creative tactics against his opponents, and all with superhuman speed, laughably overwhelming skill, near pre-cognizant reflexes, and confidence that didn't waver for even a single second. That's what I tried to embody in this build. I also tried to blend Maki's progression into it, as I imagined it to be at least fairly similar to Toji's. It would start off with just a bit more athleticism than average, and then spiral into more and more superhuman feats until you finally get the "epiphany" achieved through lvls 11-15. Monks embody superhuman combat, precise enough to cause status effects with their blows and fast enough to hit you twice in a Bonus Action. I will agree that Toji definitely doesn't favor unarmed strikes, but I'd also argue that Toji isn't a brilliant tactician that relies on being first in combat either. I mean, he certainly blitzes people and employs solid tactics in and out of battle, but not in the sense that it's intentional or especially extraordinary, he just does that by default because of his character and build. Neither embodies him perfectly, but this one gives him a superhuman body and mind while still staying away from magic, just like Toji's Heavenly Restriction. btw I like your build a lot too, I had to use it as a reference multiple times while making mine.
@@RandomInternetStranger Oh I more meant thematically then anything else! Mechanically there's many many options for a physical powerhouse. As I said in the video I just avoided monk since it just didn't feel *quite* right is all! The build you made is fantastic.
This is the kind of character that would be great to play with gestalt rules and rolled stats (definitely not cheated 😉) you could have a rogue barbarian to get that high hp and brutal criticals along with the assassin subclass so that you could tank and damage deal while being mobile and having those high skills rolls WITH some having a minimum roll so long as you have proficiency.
Gestalt alone would be a huge improvement considering you could just go outright Rogue/Fighter and really maximize all of what this build does, and then improve it even further. Rolled stats are a great secondary option though, since many GM's are hesitant to handle gestalt rules (understandably).
If your dm allows it, you can probably get a bag of holding and ask about flavoring it into a giant purple worm that can eat the items to keep hold of them
Just ask your GM for the homebrew fix where your attack rolls against any creature that hasn't taken a turn in the combat yet are also crits and not just surprises in that case
@@HeartLockHex oh nothing to apologise at all! Haha just thought it was funny :3 felt like I had to check your stuff out as I was also doing some JJK/D&D fusion stuff :3
@@TheUglyGoblin I'll have to check out some of your stuff as well! I've seen it in my recommendations a few times but sadly most of what I use RU-vid for lately is music while I work lol
One character I think could be good is Vash the Stampede, with his deep and conflicted character, and vow of pacifism, despite using a weapon that in dnd, cannot do non-lethal damage, would be fun to see
Hey I’m gonna try to use this for Baldurs gate 3 on my second play through, I know some of the things were about talking to your party or DM but I hope I can still work around it into a game, hope you make builds spefivally for Baldurs gate 3!!
@@HeartLockHex They gave me an almost useless magic sword that can cast Spike Growth (pretty useful) and Wither and Bloom..... a Con save spell.... in a campaign with DEMONS.
Welp, time to do this myself except in GURPS!! I've made a habit of doing a similar thing to this in GURPS, but with powers from anime. One of the ones I've made is Choso's blood manipulation kit! It was a ton of fun, and I love seeing stuff like this on YT
I'd lower a bit the wisdom(gambling and overconfidence) and the charisma stats. Also, since Toji is a good strategist due to his battle experience, intuition, and quick thinking, but isn't book smart at all, I'd lower the intelligence the most.
Hello! I loved the content, I saw that you didn't upload more videos of these card creations, a shame since they were incredible. Do you accept commission on pedestrian or orders? because I would love for you to make the yuta okkotsu sheet from jujutsu kaisen❤
I work retail so the holidays are buuuusy for me sadly, I do have a video in the works though. But yes Patrons of a certain tier get to request a specific build monthly if you're interested in that!
I've always wanted to play a martial arts story style swordsman. no armor, no unarmed strikes, only sword and evasiveness. and i cant figure out a way to do it without doing kensei monk and just missing out on half my features or a fighter with mage armor and pretending i dont use magic. any advice?
In 5e that's an incredibly difficult thing to do, your best bet would be going Barbarian though, even if only for one level. Then fighter from there one, maybe some rogue if you want some versatility and mobility alongside such. Honestly my old Goblin Slayer build (with some tweaks since he wears breastplate) could be viable enough for that kind of playstyle.
In a certain way I love this build for Toji, but it's clear that it's only centered on the Toji that fought Gojo, when Toji was out of retirement and had to craft a way to move Past Gojo's Infinity, but honestly, it doesn't fit that much against the rest of what Toji can really do. Like Toji vs Dagon or Toji vs Megumi, even counting stuff (spoilers) Maki can do in the manga, since they are equal in power at that point. Toji should feel like a Physical Beast, overwhelming and efficient. I agree with your statements about Monks. Ironically dropping Str is the best way to make this Character feel Physically Strong. Totem Barbarian is neat, but too "magicky" or Spiritual and Rage takes the "efficiency" out of the equation. I think, still following with your build here, maybe: Open Hand Monk (6) Champion Fighter / Battle Master Fighter (11) Assassin Rogue (3) If we focus on Level 15 as a capstone, we can dismiss the Rogue Levels and the Extra Extra Attack from Fighter. I think it's important that even tho this character does not use magic, it has to still Punch "Magically". However, Magic Weapons Exist, so, maybe Dropping 3 Levels of Monk and Starting as a Rogue to get the Skills makes sense. This build allows you to use Weapons and Fists (Unarmed Fighting Style for a D8), Extra Movement Speed, Slow Fall, Maneuvers + Open Hand Techniques can combine in fun ways to destabilize an opponent. I also added the possibility of Champion Fighter because Toji would be one of the few f***ING characters to take advantage of Peerless Athlete and Crit Fishing is in his style, as a gambler and allowing for occasional Bursts of Damage.
Wanted to avoid using Monk in any way like I said, but it's a totally viable (and arguable more effecient) option. But if someone wanted to go for an overwhelming physical character, they'd probably, frankly, just need to roll stats. 5e doesn't play very nice with anime, just is what it is. Many ways to build the characters though! Thanks for the comment!
They'll be locked behind their books on dnd beyond, I'd recommend using the search function. Should bring it up and tell you what you'll need to own for access to it!
I try not to return to character's I've already done usually, otherwise I'd never get anywhere in new videos, apologies! I'd say use my old Kenpachi video just change the race to fallen Aasimar for the transformation instead.
Could you explain what the ambush and tactical assessment moves are? I got an old DnD Player's handbook but it doesn't say those maneuvers except menacing attack. Recently got into DnD it would be very helpful if you could explain it for me 😭🙏
That'd be entirely up to you and your GM! Firearms aren't something anyone is proficient with unless the GM says so basically. Aside artificer, or Gunslinger fighter, both of which you'd want to talk to your GM with first anyway.
I don't see why not, there's probably room there for work. I'll add him to the list! In the meantime if you're looking for a summoner, maybe take a look at my Megumi build!
Definitely why I built him the way I did! Though I wish I could've played into fighter a bit more but, 5e is limited when it comes to anime adaptations lol
Hexblade is in enough builds in my opinion, and definitely didn't feel like it'd fit the vibe for Toji. Plenty of other anime builds that use Hexblade after all!
I mean he's obv insanely cool but generally he's not the most polite or actively charismatic/manipulative. I think the 10 strength is more egregious here lol
Definitley, highly recommend talking to your GM about some alternative options lol. If we could go all the way with stats every anime character would be a 20 in everything. But Toji'd have a 21 charisma for fun.
hey man, do you know about the baldur’s gate 3 game and do you intend to play it? I think it’ll be awesome if you make build videos for that game and it’ll also attract views because the game is about to be released soon.
I know that you said you wouldn’t be going past level 15 anymore but where would I go with his build after level 15?and what other homebrew items are intresting for this build.
15-16 yeah since even that is a rarity in most games lol. Leaves some room for creativity. But if you really want a recommendation I'd go the rest of the way into fighter, honestly. It gives the most in those last levels for the build.
@@Childeater-ks9pq I don't at the moment no, but I could see about throwing together a video making some homebrew for JJK perhaps, seems like a lot of people want that to my surprise!
Probably just straight Monk. Probably Kobalt Soul to emphasize his mind and strategies. Monk doesn't play very nice with Multicasting. Maybe a 2-level rogue dip for the addition skills and a little sneak attack spice.
@@HeartLockHex Hey thank you for the quick response! I really appreciate it thanks for doing what you do(love the content). Hope you're doing well my friend, looking forward to the Gojo Build! @@robbiebrandorff1482 I appreciate the support! Very glad you enjoy it so much, should have another video out this weekend at the very least! Wish I had the ability to churn out videos the way some of these madlads on the platform can.
@@HeartLockHex while I appreciate you being like that you don't need to compare yourself to anyone else as long as your happy. Can I ask what are the last two maneuvers youd are taking? Assuming your fill out the rest of your levels in battle master. As you get Your 5th and 6th maneuvers at fighter 10?
How do I record all of Toji's weapons? Even the one he took from Maki (triple nunchaku enchanted to knock back enemies)? You created a guide and I don't know anything about weapons. Sorry for the text, I used a translator)
Also about which martial artist to choose. And about martial superiority (which techniques to choose?). That wasn't in the video. It only talked about the warrior archetypes
They're in there, I list the maneuvers you want to take as they come up as options. I don't do weapons and items, since they vary far too much from one GM to GM though!

@@Random_Somewhere Aah apologies, that's good to know! Learned something new today thank you! Im working on a general ttrpg set for jjk yes! Still debating if it'll be a 5e extension or not.
Hm, that's pretty broad. I could see about adding some general DBZ to the list and see how people feel about them though! Generally they're harder to do since they want to punch things but also cast "spells" lol.
@@HeartLockHex And what if it's Goku Black or Fusion Zamasu, where both characters can use sword beams from their hands can teleport and fly Are these skills available in DND? P.S. Personally, I've never played dnd. Just interested and want information from someone with experience
@@ภูริภูมิมี They're all doable. Just most of the builds are all the same, effectively the strength of 5e is the ability to roleplay the mechanics you choose however you'd like.
Big fan of 40k but considering the way the emperor is portrayed throughout the lore don't think that'd work very well. I could look into the primarchs though!
I take requests and add them into a list from comments, then patreons and members get to do official votes to decide who goes first! Added so we'll see where that lands us!
