In the Billy Joel song, the modulation seems to be a 2-5-1 with a deceptive cadence b-E-C, landing on the Camjor instead of Aminor, CMajor being the 3 or relative major of Aminor, which lands the song in the CMajor scale for that section of the song. If you want to say anything in regard to parallel modes here it would be e-Phrygian, 3rd mode of CMajor.

So on the E ionian mode switching over to C ionian mode, did he set up that modulation? Or did he just directly modulate to C ionian without any sort of secondary dominance ?? Also if you didn't have this circle of fifths diagram how would you know the geometric relations?? Why does it matter that they make a geometric shape? Why does it matter that 3 chords make a triangle or a 4 chords make a square shape? I really don't understand how that relates to music. I feel like I know less know. Any help would be appreciated.

Billy Joel- the modulation to G Lydian would make it DMajor key, which for the purpose of staying with the E theme- where are now referencing E dorian.

"Modal Mixture" sounds like making "moves" out of a chord IN a mode INTO a chord OUTSIDE the original mode VIA SOME GEOMETRIC RELATION (adjacent/square/triangle/etc) that is made to "make sense" (sound "good") by repetition ("repetition legitimizes" as per ie Adam Neely). The GEOMETRIC RELATION indicates that there's SOMETHING "similar" (some same notes/same chord "type"/etc) between the two chords chosen ("before and after" chords [launch and destination]), which makes the transition "appropriately expressive" (good sounding in context). The "dance" between "stations" is what you FEEL when listening, and what you can SEE via the Circle-5ths and Circle-3rds tool (the beautiful Spinney-Tool). 😊🤙🏄☘

The G Lydian section uses two different secondary dominants (played three time)s, so is it still ‘right’ to say it is in the Lydian mode? Genuine question.

I read the book 📖 first and then watch the film. And if you read the book and then watch the film you get more details for me I read the book 📖 the outsiders and then watch the film 🎞 and I realize that the movie 🍿 have less details like it’s like a broader overview of the subject but don’t give you the details. Books give you details if you read it more than 2 or more times similar to a recording album 💿 like say your favorite 🤩 artist is tears for fears and the album 💿 the seeds of love ❤ if you listen to the first time great 😌. But if you listen to it 2 or more times like 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 you’ll knowtice these details that are in a book 📖 for me if I had to choose for stronger between book 📖 vs movie 🍿 I would choose stronger by Jeff beauman because I would read it over and over and over again and find those details and books strengths your brain 🧠 and also books 📖 also more details because people want more details about the book 📖. While movie 🍿 it’s quicker and broader too.
